All Enterococcus spp., isolated from environmental water samples (n=81), emitted a high chemiluminescence signal in the presence of luminol (10(-2) M). Kinetic studies of chemiluminescence show a close correlation between chemiluminescence and growth curves during the exponential phase, with a maximum chemiluminescence reached just before bacterial growth entered in the stationary phase. On the other hand, genera closely related to Enterococcus such as Streptococcus or Lactococcus produced a very weak chemiluminescent signal. Chemiluminescence of enterococci could therefore offer a rapid test, in aiding the identification of the genus Enterococcus and in the survey of the microbiological quality of water supplies. 相似文献

2004年的5~7月,在浙江省嵊州市河麂种源繁育基地对34只獐(Hydropotes inermis)的分娩活动进行了观察。结果表明,母獐通常选择安全的地点进行分娩。獐集中分娩的时间为6月3日到6月19日,占分娩母獐总数的73.53%(n=34),并且分娩多在白天进行。产程(从胎膜露出到胎盘娩出)平均为(302.20±15.27)min(n=15)。胎儿娩出的姿势多为前躯前置(前足、头先露出),占83.78%;少数为后躯前置(后足先露出),占16.22%。幼仔首次吮乳时间在单胎和多胎间无显著差异,平均为出生后(44.97±2.73)min(n=35)。幼仔出生后首次平均站立时间在双胞胎、三胞胎和四胞胎分别为(32.25±2.49)min(n=16)(、29.42±2.52)min(n=12)和(65.00±7.39)min(n=6)。每胎幼仔数越多,初生幼仔的平均体重越轻。 相似文献

Light partition has been examined and evaluated on five woody species (Olea europaea, Ficus carica, Pittosporum tobira, Hedera helix maculata, Persica vulgaris) in relation to their leaf morpho-histological characteristics, water and chlorophyll contents. Leaf parameters and optical
properties (reflectance, transmittance, absorbance) in PAR, FR and NIR wavebands (400–1100 nm) were preliminarily submitted
to a canonical correlation analysis where lamina thickness and water content showed a leading role in determining all the
optical properties, while chlorophyll, influential in the PAR region, was remarkably effective only in an extreme pigment
situation when green and albino patches of ivy leaves were compared. Transmittance appeared inversely related to lamina thickness
in accordance with the Lambert Beer law. Significant correlations were found also between mesophyll water content and both
transmittance (positive) and reflectance (negative). Olive leaves showed peculiar optical patterns because of the dense and
continuous trichome layer on their abaxial surface.

Summary By selecting for germinating seeds in the progeny of mutagen-treated non-germinating gibberellin responsive dwarf mutants of the ga–1 locus in Arabidopsis thaliana, germinating lines (revertants) could be isolated. About half of the revertants were homozygous recessive for a gene (aba), which probably regulates the presence of abscisic acid (ABA). Arguments for the function of this gene were obtained from lines homozygous recessive for this locus only, obtained by selection from the F2 progeny of revertant X wild-type crosses. These lines are characterized by a reduced seed dormancy, symptoms of withering, increased transpiration and a lowered ABA content in developing and ripe seeds and leaves.Abbreviations ABA

Cyclic irrigation is considered an effective water management practice for reducing pollutant loads from a paddy-field district. The objective of this study was to clarify the effects of cyclic irrigation on mass balance in paddy plots. At the study site, cyclic irrigation with a high cyclic irrigation ratio (% reused water in irrigation water) was conducted from late April to late June. We found a complementary relationship between the volume of irrigation water and rainfall, which together totaled about 1400-1600 mm during the irrigation period each year. We concluded that a cyclic irrigation system that enables the paddy-field district to use a high cyclic irrigation ratio may lead to more efficient use of rainfall for crop irrigation. Nitrogen concentrations in both irrigation water and ponded water tended to be higher during the cyclic irrigation period than during the lake water irrigation period. Nitrogen input from irrigated water accounted for about 8-16% of the total input of nitrogen. It is suggested that fertilizer application of nitrogen can be reduced by its return through cyclic irrigation. 相似文献

Seed banks of a southern Australian wetland: the influence of water regime on the final floristic composition 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
The sediments of a southern Australian wetland complex were investigated to determine the germinable seed bank. The number of seeds ranged from 22,000 to 78,000 m–2. Non-metric multi dimensional scaling (NMS) ordination based upon species composition separated the four basins but each contained the representatives of the major functional groups: terrestrial, amphibious and submerged. To test the influence of water regime on the final floristic composition derived from these seed banks, sediments were positioned at three elevations (0, 30 and 80 cm) and subjected to three hydrologic regimes (static water level, and draw down rates of 2.5 and 7 cm week–1). Species compositions were analysed after 98 days via ordination. Despite significant differences in the initial seed bank composition the final floristic compositions were correlated with the water regime and independent of the initial seed bank composition. Species groups were segregated on a basis of whether sediments were continuously exposed to the atmosphere, the rate of draw down and the water depth. Moist sediments were dominated by species belonging to all the main functional groups. Sediments subject to rapid drying were dominated by terrestrial species whereas sediments that were flooded for the majority of the time were dominated by submerged species. 相似文献

Ecosystem responses to changes in plant functional type composition: An example from the Patagonian steppe 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Abstract. Grass cover along a grazing intensity gradient in Patagonia decreases, whereas bare soil and shrub cover increases. Our objective was to study the effect of a change in the dominant plant functional type on soil water balance, primary production, herbivore biomass, roughness, and albedo. Using a soil water balance model, we found increases in evaporation and deep drainage, and a decrease in total transpiration along the grazing intensity gradient. Above-ground primary production, estimated from transpiration, decreased along the grazing intensity gradient because shrubs did not fully compensate for the decrease in grass production. Using a statistical model, we calculated herbivore biomass from estimates of above-ground primary production. Estimated herbivore biomass was lowest in the shrub-dominated extreme of the grazing gradient. Roughness increased from the grass-dominated to the shrub-dominated community. Albedo had a maximum at an intermediate position along the gradient. Our results suggest that changes in plant functional type composition, independent of changes in biomass, affect ecosystem functioning and the exchange of energy and material with the atmosphere. The objectives of this study were to investigate the moisture-induced protein aggregation of whey protein powders and to elucidate
the relationship of protein stability with respect to water content and glass transition. Three whey protein powder types
were studied: whey protein isolate (WPI), whey protein hydrolysates (WPH), and beta-lactoglobulin (BLG). The water sorption
isotherms were determined at 23 and 45°C, and they fit the Guggenheim–Andersson–DeBoer (GAB) model well. Glass transition
was determined by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). The heat capacity changes of WPI and BLG during glass transition
were small (0.1 to 0.2 Jg−1 °C−1), and the glass transition temperature (T
g) could not be detected for all samples. An increase in water content in the range of 7 to 16% caused a decrease in T
g from 119 down to 75°C for WPI, and a decrease from 93 to 47°C for WPH. Protein aggregation after 2 weeks’ storage was measured
by the increase in insoluble aggregates and change in soluble protein fractions. For WPI and BLG, no protein aggregation was
observed over the range of 0 to 85% RH, whereas for WPH, ∼50% of proteins became insoluble after storage at 23°C and 85% RH
or at 45°C and ≥73% RH, caused mainly by the formation of intermolecular disulfide bonds. This suggests that, at increased
water content, a decrease in the T
g of whey protein powders results in a dramatic increase in the mobility of protein molecules, leading to protein aggregation

以干旱地区的肉食性步甲科(Carabidae)和植食性拟步甲科(Tenebrionidae)昆虫成体为材料,测定鞘翅目甲虫的含能值和含水量,分析其含能值和含水量的相互关系及其变动规律.结果表明,肉食性步甲科昆虫的含能值(22.64 J/mg无灰干重)显著高于植食性拟步甲科昆虫(20.55 J/mg无灰干重)(P<0.05),相反,前者的含水量(54.96%)却显著地低于后者(63.28%)(P<0.05).步甲科和拟步甲科昆虫的含能值都与其含水量成显著负相关(r=-0.5962,P<0.05).步甲科和拟步甲科昆虫的含能值或含水量具有明显的季节变动规律,两科的变动规律基本相同,其中,含能值在秋季最高(22.80 J/mg无灰干重),春季最低(20.42 J/mg无灰干重),含水量则相反,秋季最低(54.93%),春季最高(61.88%)(P<0.05).步甲科和拟步甲科昆虫的头、胸、腹和附肢不同体区的含能值具有显著差异(P<0.05),其中,腹部的含能值最高(22.65 J/mg无灰干重),其次为胸部(21.33 J/mg无灰干重),头部和附肢的含能值最低(20.89 J/mg无灰干重和20.60 J/mg无灰干重).不同体区的含能值也具有同样的季节变动,即含能值在秋季最高(22.30 J/mg无灰干重),春季最低(19.46 J/mg无灰干重)(P<0.05).步甲科和拟步甲科昆虫的个体含能值与其头、胸、腹和附肢各体区的含能值成正相关,相关系数分别为0.718、0.846、0.897和0.604(P<0.05);其中个体含能值与腹部或胸部体区含能值的相关系数显著地高于它们与头部和附肢含能值的相关系数(P<0.05);这些结果说明,脂质在甲虫腹部和胸部的积聚是引起甲虫个体含能值提高的主要原因.本文对不同食性甲虫含能值产生差异的原因,甲虫含能值和含水量变动的影响因素也进行了分析;并结合最佳摄食理论,就甲虫作为猎物,其含能值和含水量的这些变动规律对食虫动物食物选择所可能产生的影响也进行了探讨,就今后进一步检验食虫动物摄食对策所应开展的猎物喂养食虫动物的实验提出建议. 相似文献

Eutrophication resulting from nutrient enrichment decreases water quality and harms ecosystem structure and function, and its degree is significantly affected by land use in the catchment. Quantifying the relationship between eutrophication and land use can help effectively manage land use to improve water quality. Previous studies principally utilized land use quantity as an indicator to link water quality parameters, but these studies lacked insight into the impact of land use intensity. Taking the upper catchment of Miyun Reservoir as a case study, we developed a method of aggregating land use quantity and intensity to build a new land use indicator and tested its explanatory power on water quality. Six nutrient concentrations from 52 sub-watersheds covering the whole catchment were used to characterize the spatial distribution of eutrophication. Based on spatial techniques, empirical conversion coefficients, remote sensing data, and socio-economic statistical data, land use intensity was measured and mapped visually. The new land use indicator was calculated and linked to nutrient concentrations by Pearson correlation coefficients. Results demonstrated that our new indicator incorporating intensity information can quantify the different nutrient-exporting abilities of different land use areas. Compared to traditional indicators that only incorporate land use quantity, most Pearson correlation coefficients between the new indicator and water nutrient concentrations increased. This new information enhanced the explanatory power of land use on water nutrient concentrations, and so will be able to help us understand the impact of land use on water quality and guide decision making for better land use management. 相似文献
