An innovative method for directly and explicitly quantifying the maintenance energy requirements of pure cultures growing on volatile organic compound (VOC) substrates in a two-phase partitioning bioscrubber is described. Direct evidence of maintenance energy requirements of Achromobacter xylosoxidans Y234 is provided both through observed reductions in the macroscopic biomass-to-substrate yield with decreasing specific growth rates, but more remarkably through achievement of steady-state operation. The data conclusively show that maintenance activities do occur in the two-phase partitioning bioscrubber and clearly illustrate the importance of this phenomenon to the operation of this process, and similar bioreactor systems. While benzene was selected as the principal, sole substrate of interest in this study, ethylbenzene degradation experiments were also subsequently performed to illustrate and confirm the general applicability of the proposed technique, as well as the potential capabilities of the two-phase partitioning bioscrubber for the continuous treatment of waste gases containing various VOCs. The proposed method has been shown to generate maintenance energy estimates that are consistent with those obtained while employing more widely recognized estimation strategies, further validating its capabilities. 采用GC-MS测定损伤冷蒿VOCs的主要成分,并通过生物测定的方法研究损伤冷蒿VOCs对牧草幼苗根系生长发育的影响。结果表明:损伤冷蒿释放30种VOCs,包含萜烯类、醇类、酯类、醛类和酮类等5类化合物,其中相对含量高于1%的化合物共占VOCs总量的97.37%,桉树脑含量最高(22.43%)。损伤冷蒿释放的VOCs极显著(P0.01)的抑制草木樨、苏丹草、披碱草和冰草幼根的伸长,以及苏丹草侧根与冰草须根的发育,抑制率分别为51.55%、55.34%、37.57%、48.68%、93.04%和25.00%;同时也极显著抑制4种牧草幼根生物量的积累(P0.01)。损伤冷蒿VOCs影响牧草根部中柱组织结构的分化,使草木樨中柱内木质部、韧皮部与形成层不能正常分化;苏丹草、披碱草和冰草的凯氏带发育不完整。由此可见,损伤冷蒿VOCs对牧草根系生长发育具有明显的抑制作用。  相似文献

大花栀子植物挥发物成分测定及其日变化分析   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
为探究大花栀子植物挥发物成分组成及其一天内早、中、晚的差异,采用热脱附气质联用技术对其进行香气成分的分析。结果表明:全天从其花朵中共鉴定出62种成分,主要为萜烯类、酯类、醇类物质,且不同时间其成分差异显著,如早、中、晚3个时间段,β-蒎烯相对含量分别为1.93%、1.69%、8.81%,顺式-β-罗勒烯分别为28.22%、4.35%、16.47%。3-蒈烯(3.45%)、异丁子香酚(0.21%)等只在早上检出;月桂烯(0.38%)、伞花烃(2.46%)等只在晚上检出;芳樟醇、金合欢烯等在早上和午间两个时间段相对含量较高,而在晚上却未检测出。从植物VOCs角度结合其日变化动态,为大花栀子园林配置及其综合开发利用提供理论依据。  相似文献

Competition between mycelia of saprotrophic cord-forming basidiomycetes occurs both within dead woody resources and in the soil-litter interface, and involves a variety of antagonistic mechanisms including the production of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The antagonistic potential of VOC profiles from interactions in wood blocks and in soil microcosms was assessed using shared headspace experiments, and the profile of VOCs emitted over the course of interactions elucidated using solid phase microextraction (SPME) with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC–MS). Quantitative and qualitative changes in VOC production occurred in interactions compared to self-pairing controls, with different VOC profiles from fungi growing in wood blocks compared to soil trays. There were both stimulatory and inhibitory effects of VOCs on target mycelial extension rate, hyphal coverage and fractal dimension. VOC-mediated effects were greater in self-pairing controls compared to interactions, and differed depending on the substratum in which the VOC-producing fungi were growing.  相似文献

Baccharis dracunculifolia DC. and Baccharis microdonta DC. (Asteraceae) are woody species morphologically similar growing in Uruguay, where not taxonomists people often confuse them in field conditions. As the essential oil of B. dracunculifolia (‘vassoura’ oil) is highly prized by the flavor and fragrance industry, the correct differentiation of the two species is a key factor in exploiting them profitably and reasonably. To differentiate both Baccharis species, in this work their volatile expression profiles were studied as an alternative tool to determine authenticity and quality. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) were monthly extracted during an entire year from aerial parts of wild populations by simultaneous distillation extraction (SDE), and studied by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS; identification) and conventional gas chromatography (GC-FID; component abundances determination). Enantioselective gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Es-GC/MS) was applied in the search of parameters able to ensure genuineness of each species extract. Qualitative VOCs profiles were found to be similar for both species, being β-pinene, limonene, spathulenol, caryophyllene oxide, and viridiflorol the main components. However, the abundance of those VOCs were two to ten times higher in B. dracunculifolia than in B. microdonta during the year of study. These Baccharis spp. showed species-specific patterns of VOCs expression according to the seasonality, and interestingly, oxygenated compounds (trans-pinocarveol and myrtenal) increased their abundances at full-flowering stages. The enantiomeric distribution of selected monoterpenes (α- and β-pinenes, limonene, linalool, terpinen-4-ol, and α-terpineol) presented differential values for both Baccharis spp., meaning that Es-GC might be a useful tool for differentiating chemically both species in Uruguay for genuineness determination purposes.  相似文献

The performance of a biofilter packed with Active Carbon (AC) was evaluated. The effluent (alcohol, ketones, esters, aromatic and chlorinated compounds) treated was a representative mixture of most common industrial emissions. To achieve a better knowledge of multicomponent adsorption mechanisms, and to underline the interest of inoculating AC, a control abiotic humidified filter had been operated in the same conditions as the biofilter. For a load of 110 g VOC m(-3) AC h(-1), after 55 days of operation, the removal efficiency was higher in the biotic than in the abiotic filter (85% vs 55%, respectively). Moreover, in the biofilter, at steady state, the elimination of all compounds was almost complete except for chlorinated compounds and p-xylene (removal efficiency of 25% and 64%, respectively). The microbial colonization of AC involved a decrease of the adsorption sites accessibility and enhanced the treatment of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) having a lower affinity for activated carbon. Moreover, while aromatic compounds and MIBK were eliminated along the overall height of the biofilter, pollutants with reduced affinity for AC, such as methanol, acetone, and halogenated compounds were only treated on the second half of the reactor. Thus, the affinity for activated carbon was an important parameter controlling the biodegradation process. Nevertheless, the use of AC as packing material in biofilters treating complex mixtures of VOCs is limited. Actually, similar removal efficiency could be reached, in the same conditions, for a biofilter packed with granular peat. Furthermore, for the biofilter packed with AC, the column height necessary to remove biodegradable compounds, with reduced affinity for the support, was important.  相似文献

The composite TiO2/Mo-TiO2 were prepared by a modified sol-gel method. The prepared catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, BET analysis, SEM, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and UV–vis diffused reflectance spectroscopy techniques. The structural characterization results demonstrated that Mo was successfully doped into the TiO2 lattice and caused slight changes in the physiochemical properties. The UV–vis DRS showed a red shift of the adsorption edge to the visible region. The photocatalytic decomposition efficiencies of the catalysts were examined with toluene as a typical VOC in a continuous flow reactor. The photocatalytic activity of the n-n heterogeneous TiO2/Mo-TiO2 was greater than that of pure TiO2 and Mo-TiO2, and the catalyst containing a Mo/Ti mole ratio of 2.5% exhibited optimum photocatalytic properties. In general, a relative humidity of 35%, a higher oxygen content, a lower initial toluene concentration, and a higher UV intensity were beneficial for toluene decomposition.  相似文献
