Summary Late Eocene sediments of the Upper Austrian Alpine Foreland Basin discordantly overlie Mesozoic and crystalline rocks, which are deeply eroded and form a distinct pre-Eocene relief. Late Eocene deposits contain red algal limestones with a remarkable lateral extent and a high diversity of sedimentary facies. Towards the south the algal limestones change into more clastic sediments, which are characterized by larger foraminifera and bryozoans. Main components are coralline algal branches and detritus, coralline crusts, rhodoliths, peyssonneliacean aggregates and crusts, nummulitid and orthophragminid foraminifera, corals, bryozoans, as well as terrigenous components. Rank correlation and factor analysis were calculated in order to obtain informations about relations between components. Hierarchical cluster analysis allowed the designation of 17 facies, most of them are dominated by coralline algae. Actualistic comparisons and correlations obtained from statistical analyses allowed the reconstruction of the depositional environments. Main features of the northern area are huge accumulations of unattached coralline algae (branches, rhodoliths, detritus), which are comparable to the present-day “Maerl”-facies. They formed loose frameworks cut by sand channels. The frequency of coralline detritus decreases upsection. Peyssonneliacean algae in higher parts of the profiles show growth-forms that are comparable to peyssonneliaceans of the Mediterranean circalittoral soft bottoms. This succession can be interpreted by an increasing relative sea level. Besides, crustose coralline algal frameworks were growing on morphological highs which are partially comparable to the present-day “Coralligéne de Plateau” of the Mediterranean Sea. In contrast to the northern area, sedimentation rate of the southern area is too low to keep up with rising sea level. The typical succession from nummulitid- to orthophragminid-and bryozoan-dominated facies can be interpreted by an increasing water depth from shallowest subtidal to the deeper photic zone and finally to the aphotic zone.  相似文献

南雄群及其介形类化石在我国晚白垩世非海相地层划分对比中占重要地位,主田和杨梅坑剖面主田组和浈水组中有270个样品含介形类化石,计有23属(2亚属)99种(12新种)。南雄群介形类动物群是以Talicypridea,Cypridea,Nanxiongium,Candoniella等4属为主,称Talicypridea Cypridea Nanxiongium动物群(简称Tali cypridea动物群)。该动物群在我国和蒙古的非海相地层中广泛分布,时代属晚白垩世中—晚期。  相似文献

通过对福建宁化县泉下镇石灰窑下村上石炭统达拉阶筵类的系统研究,共描述筵类10属35种,包括3个未定种。根据筵类化石在地层中的分布和垂向变化规律,自上而下建立两个筵带、三个亚带:Ⅱ.Fusulina-Fusulinella带,3)Fusulina quasicylindrica亚带,2)Beedeina mayiensis亚带和1)Fusulinella helenae-Pseudostaffella paradoxa亚带,Ⅰ.Pseudoendothyra ninghuaensis带。为该区以及我国石炭系地层的划分和对比提供重要的素材。  相似文献

The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of particle size on the wet massing behavior of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC). In this study, a series of six fractionated MCC grades were customized and specially classified to yield different particle size varieties of the standard grade, Comprecel M101. All seven MCC grades were extensively characterized for the physical properties and wet massing behavior using mixer torque rheometry. Effects of MCC physical properties on the maximum torque (Torquemax) were determined using partial least squares (PLS) analysis. Most physical properties varied systematically with particle size and morphological changes. Marked differences were observed in the small pore volumes (V highP) and BET surface areas of the MCC grades. Variables that exerted dominant influences on Torquemax were identified. In particular, the significance of V highP in governing wet mass consistency was established. The role of V highP has not been reported in any study because this small but significant variation is likely to be obliterated or compensated by variation in other physical properties from MCC grades from different suppliers. The findings demonstrated the role of small pores in governing the wet mass consistency of MCC and provide a better understanding of MCC’s superior performance as a spheronization aid by the ability to fulfill the function as a molecular sponge to facilitate pellet formation during wet granulation processes.  相似文献

Persistent soil seed banks are presumed to play a significant role in bridging and exploiting the effects of major flood disturbances in riparian systems. However, presently there is little empirical data on the correlation between flooding and seed bank dynamics. The objective of this study was to assess the impact of inter-annual flooding variation on soil seed bank dynamics in flood-meadows. We analysed seed bank composition at 46 plots along the northern Upper Rhine River, Germany, after two periods with contrasting flooding conditions (1996–1997: low and rare flooding; 1998–1999 high and very frequent flooding). Between both sampling occasions the total number of seedlings emerging from the seed bank decreased by 50% and average species-richness per sample by 30%, irrespective of the sampling depth. Similar decline occurred in mesophytes and wetland species as well as over different functional groups, with the exception of legumes. Considerable compositional changes in the seed bank were also indicated by shifts in DCA ordination and by the comparison of similarity matrices from both years with the Mantel test. The Mantel test also confirmed that compositional changes were more pronounced in the seed bank than in aboveground vegetation. There was poor correlation between the decline in total seed densities and species in the soil seed bank and environmental variables such as flooding duration and ecological groupings such as floodplain compartment and seed bank community types. Further distinct patterns of decline and persistence were evident only at the species level. While 21 species displayed a significant decline, only two species increased. Annual arable weeds and perennial ruderals with high temperature or nutrient requirements to break dark dormancy were amongst the most significantly declining species. In contrast, there was no decline in typical winter annuals and certain perennials that preferably germinate in autumn and fall into dormancy at the beginning of the warm period. Generally, differences in germination requirements and dormancy cycles of species gave the best explanation for the patterns of decline and persistence after intense flooding. Given these findings, the heavy depletion of the persistent soil seed bank we observed is most likely attributed to a post-flood germination flush due to very favourable recruitment conditions prevailing during the draw-down period after early summer flooding in 1999. The results of our study suggest that persistent soil seed banks are of outstanding importance to bridge and exploit the highly variable hydrological conditions that are typical of flood-meadows. Thus, they play a significant role in maintaining the floristic diversity of this habitat type over time and space. Summary A rich and diverse dasycladalean algae association is described from the Upper Triassic succession of Mt. Rotonda (Calabria-Lucania border, Southern Italy). This association consists of:Neoteutloporella rajkae n.sp.,Griphoporella bechst?dti n.sp.,Physoporella zamparelliae n.sp.,Spinaporella andalusica Flügel & Flügel-Kahler, 1984,S.? granadaensis Flügel & Flügel-Kahler, 1984,Chinianella? sp.,Gyroporella sp.,Griphoporella? sp. andPhysoporella aff.leptotheca. Neoteutloporella rajkae n.sp. is characterised by an undulated calcareous skeleton with short acrophore primary laterals bearing a tuft of 4–6 elongate, segmented, trichophore secondary laterals. This species allows to extend back to the Upper Triassic the stratigraphic range of the genusNeoteutloporella, previously known only from Upper Jurassic levels. Griphoporella bechst?dti n.sp. has a cylindrical calcareous skeleton and primary laterals only, consisting of a thin proximal part followed by a swollen portion that pinches out distally and finally opens outward with a cup-like swelling. Physoporella zamparelliae n.sp. is characterised by a calcareous skeleton made by partly welded thin individual sheaths enclosing the laterals. The laterals are piriferous, vertically compressed, roughly triangular both in vertical and in verticillar section. In some specimens they end with a spine-like thin apophysis. This species confirms that the typical Middle Triassic genusPhysoporella survived up into the Norian. The dasycladalean algal association of the Norian of Mt. Rotonda shows some similarities with the algal association found in the Upper Triassic of the Betic Cordillera whereas it is markedly different from the rich association occurring in the Upper Triassic of Sicily and of the Northern Calcareous Alps. This pattern is coupled with a different composition of the platform margin communities: microbial/serpulids bioconstructions in the Upper Triassic of the Calabria-Lucania border and of Alpujarridevs. Dachstein-type reefs in Sicily and the Northern Calcareous Alps. This indicates that the palaeoceanographic and palaeogeographic conditions controlled both the development of the different platform margin and of the different algal assemblages.  相似文献

The role of arm motion on the performance of the standing long jump was investigated. Three males performed a series of jumps with free (JFA) and with restricted (JRA) arm motion to determine if arm swing improves jumping distance. The subjects jumped off a force platform and the motion of the body segments were recorded with a four-camera, passive motion-capture system. Jumping performance was defined as the horizontal displacement of the toe between the initial and landing (TD) positions. The subjects jumped 21.2% further on an average with arm movement (2.09±0.03 m) than without (1.72±0.03 m). Seventy-one percent of the increase in performance in JFA was attributable to a 12.7% increase in the take-off (TO) velocity of the center of gravity (CG). Increases in the horizontal displacement of the CG before TO and in the horizontal position of the toe with respect to the CG at TD accounted for the remaining 29% of the improvement in jumping distance. The added balance and control provided by the arms throughout the jumping motion contributed to performance improvement in JFA. The subjects were able to remedy excessive forward rotation about the CG by swinging the arms backwards during the flight phase. Without the freedom to swing the arms during flight, the subjects had to eliminate any excessive forward rotation while still in contact with the ground. This tendency in JRA was manifest in the premature decline in the vertical ground reaction force (VGRF) and the development of a counterproductive backward-rotating moment about the CG just before TO.  相似文献

In this study, we screened serum samples for transient hyperphosphatasemia (TH) using cellulose acetate membrane electrophoresis over a period of 3 years. In the patients found to suffer from TH, we examined the relationship between the clinical condition and viral infection. The frequency of TH was 0.26%, and all of the cases detected were in infants or young children. The female to male ratio of TH was 1.29/1. While there was no clear seasonal fluctuation or periodicity in the appearance of TH, two peaks were recognized in spring and autumn. Research on the clinical manifestations clarified that most of the TH cases had infectious diseases of the upper airways accompanied by symptoms of fever and diarrhea. We examined antibody titers for viruses causing upper airway infectious diseases and identified antibodies for enteroviruses such as Echo 22, Entero 71, and Coxsackie B4. Our results suggested that TH might be caused by an infection of the enterovirus group.  相似文献

In the Late Triassic, an extremely large carbonate platform system (Dachstein-type platforms) developed on the margin of the Neotethys. On the wide inner platform cyclic peritidal, lagoonal successions were deposited. In the Transdanubian Range (Hungary), the lower part of the 1.5–2-km-thick cyclic succession (Upper Tuvalian–mid-Norian) is pervasively dolomitised, the upper part (Upper Norian–Rhaetian) is non-dolomitised; there is a transitional interval between them made up of partially dolomitised cycles. The peritidal–lagoonal cycles are commonly bounded by well-developed disconformity surfaces reflecting subaerial erosion that punctuated the marine carbonate accumulation. Truncation of the cycles was preceded by pervasive cementation of the previously deposited cycle. In the early stage of the platform evolution, tidal flat dolomitisation under semi-arid conditions led to the consolidation of the previously deposited sediments. The truncation surfaces were commonly covered by dolocretes. During the more humid Late Norian–Rhaetian period, the early cementation was followed by karstification, accumulation of wind-blown dust and pedogenesis. Erosion during regularly recurring subaerial exposure that commonly reached the previously deposited subtidal beds suggests eustatic control of the cyclicity and supports the application of an allocyclic model, even if the Milankovitch signal is imperfect.  相似文献
