The influence of the cotyledons and apical bud and the root system on the light-induced opening of the hypocotyl hook of etiolated seedlings of Gossypium hirsutum L., Phaseolus vulgaris L., Helianthus annuus L., Ipomoea alla L., Ipomoea sp., Cucumis sativus L., Linum usitatissimum L., Hibiscus esculentus L., and Raphanus sativus L. was studied. Light stimulated the opening of hypocotyl hook in all cases, but the cotyledons and roots had different effects in different plants. Generally, the presence of cotyledons and the remainder of the shoot apical to the hook inhibited light-mediated opening, but in Gossypium the organs stimulated light-mediated opening. Presence of roots either promoted opening, had no effect, or had an effect only when the cotyledons were present. In the dark the adjacent organs had a reduced effect over that shown in the light, but one cultivar of cotton, Acala SJ1, opened the hook in the dark without cotyledons as much as under any condition in the light. The variation between species in hook opening may related to the need of that process for a proper hormonal balance, as affected by light, which must be obtained from adjacent tissues. 相似文献

Attempts directed at an intramolecular cycloaddition of the ortho-quinodimethane complex derived from 17 by anion promoted ring opening unexpectedly resulted in the formation of 12 as the product of an opening of the proximal bond of the anellated ring located between the hydroxy group and the coordinated aromatic ring in 16. The fact that the intermolecular cycloaddition reaction for 16 is possible in the presence of a dienophile is taken as evidence for an equilibrium between the alcoholate 17 and the two ring opened products 16 and 18. The proximal ring opening of 6 is not observed when the free organic ligand 21 is used as the educt. PurposeThis study used an ultrasound image tracking algorithm (UITA) in combination with a proposed simulation program for the approximate irregular field dose distribution (SPAD) to assess the feasibility of performing dose distribution simulations for two-dimensional radiotherapy.MethodsThis study created five different types of multileaf collimator openings, and applied a SPAD to analyze the matrix position parameters for each regular field to generate a static program-simulation dose distribution map (PDDM), whose similarity was then compared with a static radiochromic film experimental-measurement dose distribution map (EDDM). A two-dimensional respiration motion simulation system (RMSS) was used to reproduce the respiration motion, and the UITA was used to capture the respiration signals. Respiration signals were input to the SPAD to generate two dynamic PDDMs, which were compared for similarity with the dynamic EDDM.ResultsIn order to verify the dose distribution between different dose measurement techniques, the gamma passing rate with 2%/2 mm criterion was used for the EDDM and PDDM, the passing rates were between 94.31% and 99.71% in the static field analyses, and between 84.45% and 96.09% for simulations with the UITA signal input and between 89.35% and 97.78% for simulations with the original signal input in the dynamic field analyses.ConclusionsStatic and dynamic dose distribution maps can be simulated based on the proposed matrix position parameters of various fields and by using the UITA to track respiration signals during radiation therapy. The effect of alteration of redox potential on the kinetics of fluorescence induction in pea chloroplasts has been investigated. Potentiometric titration of the initial (Fi) level of fluorescence recorded upon shutter opening gave a two component curve, with Em(7) at ?20 mV and ?275 mV, almost, identical to results obtained using continuous low intensity illumination (Horton, P. and Croze, E. (1979) Biochim. Biophys. Acta 545, 188–201). The slow or tail phase of induction observed in the presence of DCMU can be eliminated by poising the redox potential at approx. 0 to +50 mV. At this potential Fi was increased by less than 10% and the higher potential quencher described above was only marginally reduced. The disappearance of the slow phase titrated as an n = 1 component with an Em(7) of +120 mV. Therefore it seems unlikely that the slow phase of fluorescence induction is due to photoreduction of the ?20 mV quencher. These results are discussed with reference to current ideas concerning heterogeneity on the acceptor side of Photosystem II. 相似文献

Cultural tourism is often described as inciting visited populations to adapt elements of their culture to the visitors' tastes instead of displaying their real way of life or identity. Even when researchers adopt a constructivist approach to authenticity, they often assume that it is defined according to the criteria or expectations of the tourists. In this paper, I analyse three Māori cultural shows in New Zealand, and explore the way cultural authenticity is defined in tourist interactions. I review the arguments in favour of rejecting the opposition between ‘inauthentic’ staged culture and ‘authentic’ daily life. My study tends to indicate that if authenticity is better described as a social construction, the host society might be more active in this process than visitors. 相似文献

Using D-pinitol (= 3-O-methyl-D-chiro-inositol) as starting material, a concise synthesis of 4/5-deoxy-4/5-nucleobase derivatives 11-19 has been achieved. The key intermediate 9 was obtained in good yield via an epoxidation from mono-methanesulfonate of D-pinitol. The process of opening of the epoxide ring in 9 by nucleobases appeared to be regioselective in presence of 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene (DBU). All the synthesized carbocyclic nucleosides were assayed against several viruses and tumors such as HIV-1, HSV-1, and HSV-2, and lung and bladder cancer. However, only compounds 14b, 14a, 16a, 16b, and 19 showed mild inhibitory effect against human lung cancer cell lines (PG) with IC50 values ranging from 50 to 100 microM, and the other compounds did not exhibit any significant antiviral activity or cytotoxicity even at concentrations up to 200 microM. 相似文献

Melting profile and temperature dependent binding constant of an anticancer drug daunomycin-DNA complex 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We calculate thermal fluctuational base pair opening probability and the drug binding constant of a daunomycin-bound Poly d(CGTA) · Poly d(TACG) at temperatures from room temperature to its melting temperature. For comparison we also carry out a calculation on a drug-free DNA with the same sequence. Our calculations are carried out by means of a statistical approach using microscopic structures and established force fields and with cooperative effects incorporated into the algorithm. Both hydrogen bond disruption probabilities and drug unstacking probability are determined self-consistently. These probabilities are then used to determine temperature dependent base pair opening probabilities and the drug binding constant. The calculated base pair opening probabilities and drug binding constant are found to be in fair agreement with experiments carried out at room temperature. Our calculation shows cooperative base pair disruption and drug dissociation at certain critical temperatures close to the observed melting temperatures for similar helices. We find that the temperature dependence of the drug binding constant fits well to the van't Hoff relation, in agreement with observations. Our calculation indicates the occurrence of a premelting transition in the drug-bound DNA helix. Some comments are made about this premelting transition. 相似文献

The influence of far-red (FR; 700–800 nm) radiation on steady-state stomatal conductance and net photosynthesis in P. vulgaris has been studied. Whereas FR radiation alone was relatively ineffective, addition of FR to a background of white light (WL; predominantly 400–700 nm) resulted in increased stomatal conductance. Stomata exhibited a marked diurnal sensitivity to FR. The action maximum for enhancing stomatal conductance was near 714 nm. A combination of FR and infra-red (IR; >800 nm) enhanced net photosynthesis when added to a background of WL. When IR alone was added to WL, there was a net decrease in photosynthesis, indicating that it is the FR waveband which is responsible for the observed photosynthetic effects. Naturally occurring levels of FR radiation (235 mol·m-2·s-1) in vegetation-canopy shade enhanced net photosynthetic CO2 gain by 28% when added to a background of 55 mol·m-2·s-1 WL.Abbreviations BL
