We report results from a study of human and canine mucosal cells, investigated by infrared micro-spectroscopy, and analyzed by methods of multivariate statistics. We demonstrate that the infrared spectra of individual cells are sensitive to the stage of maturation, and that a distinction between healthy and diseased cells will be possible. Since this report is written for an audience not familiar with infrared micro-spectroscopy, a short introduction into this field is presented along with a summary of principal component analysis.  相似文献

The feeding behavior of Peregrinus maidis (Ashmead) (Homoptera: Delphacidae), vector of maize mosaic virus (MMV) and maize stripe virus (MStpV) in maize (Zea mays L.), has been studied by Electrical Penetration Graph (EPG). The different recordings collected have allowed the temporal distinction of three EPG signal classes. These class 1, class 2 and class 3 signals are correlated through histological sections to the feeding activities of probing, xylem ingestion and phloem ingestion, respectively. Although these signals are described by various statistical parameters, only the median allows significant differentiation between class 2 and class 3 signals, the others varying from one insect to the next. On the other hand, spectral analysis is used to describe the signal classes by associating a characteristic frequency spectrum to each. This study treats the importance of such analysis in characterizing and comparing the signals of various piercing and sucking insects.  相似文献

In robot-assisted beating heart surgery, motion of the heart surface might be virtually stabilized to let the surgeon work as in on-pump cardiac surgery. Virtual stabilization means to compensate physically the relative motion between the instrument tool tip and the region of interest on the heart surface, and to offer surgeon a stable visual display of the scene. To this end, motion of the heart must be estimated. This article focusses on motion estimation of the heart surface. Two approaches are considered in the paper. The first one is based on landmark tracking allowing 3D pose estimation. The second is based on texture tracking. Classical computer vision methods, as well as a new texture-based tracking scheme has been applied to track the heart motion, and, when possible, reconstruct 3D distance to the heart surface. Experimental results obtained on in vivo images show the estimated motion of heart surface points.  相似文献

When an animal is moving relative to its surroundings it can nevertheless stabilize the image on the retina, at least partially, by means of the large-field optomotor response. In the animal species investigated so far, this response has been found to be colour-blind as indicated by grey-matching tests, and to involve only photoreceptors sensitive in the long-wavelength region of the spectrum. Here we show that this rule also applies to pigeons, i.e. birds, a group not previously studied in this regard. Accepted: 4 February 1998  相似文献
