连香树(Cercidiphyllum japonicum)是第三纪孑遗植物, 存在严重的幼苗更新限制。为验证生活史早期(种子萌发)限制中国分布区北缘连香树种群幼苗更新, 并探讨其主要成因, 本研究在秦岭和太行山脉采集不同种源地的种子, 测定其形态性状、营养元素含量和质量、不同贮存时间的活力及不同温度条件下的萌发性状, 通过方差分析、相关分析等方法对不同种源地的种子性状进行分析。结果表明: 在中国分布区北缘, 其种子长度(P < 0.001)、萌发率(P < 0.001)、平均萌发时间(P < 0.001)、氮(P < 0.05)和磷含量(P < 0.001)在不同种源间存在显著差异; 而在区域尺度上(秦岭与太行山), 仅种子碳含量存在显著差异(P < 0.01)。天水种群的种子萌发率最高(21.77%), 平均萌发时间最长(11.12 d); 栾川的萌发率最低(1.38%), 平均萌发时间最短(3.47 d)。在25℃条件下, 济源种群的种子萌发率显著高于10℃、15℃和20℃条件下(P < 0.05), 而其他种源地的萌发率在不同温度条件下无显著差异。在4个温度条件下, 栾川种群种子的初始萌发时间无显著差异, 而其他4个种源地的初始萌发时间都随温度升高而缩短。相关分析结果表明, 种子萌发率与种子活力密切相关, 而种子活力与种子质量、种子的氮和磷含量显著相关。在中国分布区北缘, 连香树种子的自身属性(质量、氮和磷含量)通过影响种子活力间接影响萌发率; 且种子萌发对温度的响应主要表现在萌发时间上。本研究证实种子萌发是限制连香树种群幼苗更新的关键阶段, 主要原因如下: (1)连香树种子在9月成熟后, 10月的温度仍适宜种子萌发, 但较短生长期的幼苗在冬季低温下不能存活; (2)连香树种子萌发率低(14.4%); (3)第二年春天种子活力骤降。 相似文献

The effects of river flow diversion on biodiversity were assessed using Coleoptera as an indicator group in three habitats of the Kihansi Gorge (Udzungwa Mountains, Tanzania), before and after commissioning of a hydropower plant. Data collected using sweep netting and pitfall traps showed that the effect of diversion of the river flow was site-specific, affecting particularly the spray habitat. Rarefaction analysis of both sweep netting and pitfall samples indicated that the expected richness of Coleoptera declined significantly in all habitats after commissioning of the power plant. Sweep netting and pitfall samples showed that the highest Shannon–Wiener diversity index value before the diversion of the river flow was in the spray zone, but the index value decreased after diversion. Changes in the other two habitats were less prominent. Analysis of variance using diversity index values from five pitfall samples in each habitat type before and after commissioning indicated that there were no statistically significant differences in the diversity index between the two sampling periods or among the three habitat types. Renkonen's similarity index between habitats showed that pitfall samples had higher similarity (87%) than did samples from sweep netting (69%). It is suggested that for mitigation purposes, artificial spray systems, which have been installed in other wetlands of the Kihansi Gorge, also be installed to cover the whole Lower Wetland in which this study was undertaken. Caves harbor a rich fauna unique to subterranean environments. Although extensive records of cave animals are available, only a small fraction of known caves in any region have been biologically assessed. We investigated the impact of incomplete sampling using one of the richest, best documented cave faunas in the world – that of the Dinaric karst of Slovenia. We utilized time snapshots (1940, 1970, and 2000) of the caves and cave fauna to analyze stability of hotspots, spatial pattern, and relationship between number of species and number of caves. Using data aggregated into 100km2 hexagons, the location of hotspots, black–white joins, Moran's I, and spatial autocorrelation all remained constant, at least from 1970 on. The linear regression coefficient of the relationship between number of caves and number of species declined with time. Most hexagons had been sampled, but there was no indication that any hexagon had been sampled intensively enough for the accumulation curve of number of caves versus number of species within a hexagon to reach an asymptote. This appeared to be the result of a highly skewed distribution of species richness among caves. chimpanzee from Mahale , was remarkably lower than the mean of the other six younger adult female chimpanzees and categorized
as osteoporosis. Posture, locomotion, and trunk-sacral anatomy of chimpanzees may have prevented fractures in Wansombo, whose
BMD was below human osteoporosis criteria.

Chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) often groom in gatherings that cannot simply be divided into unilateral dyadic grooming interactions. This feature of grooming is studied at two different levels: grooming cliques and grooming clusters. Grooming cliques are defined as directly connected configurations of grooming interactions at any given moment, and when any member of a clique successively grooms any member of another clique within 5min and within a distance of 3m, all the members of both cliques are defined as being in the same grooming cluster. Twenty-seven types of cliques are observed, with the largest one consisting of seven individuals. Mutual and/or polyadic cliques account for more than 25% of all cliques. The size of grooming clusters varies from two to 23 individuals, and almost 70% of the grooming time is spent in polyadic clusters. Although adult males groom the longest in relatively smaller clusters (size=2-4), adult females groomed the longest in clusters of five or more individuals. A review of the literature implies that mutual and polyadic cliques occur less often in other primate species than in chimpanzees. The importance of overlapping interactions for these kinds of gatherings and its possible significance in the evolution of sociality is discussed in this article. 相似文献

We asked whether 3–5 kg N y−1 atmospheric N deposition was sufficient to have influenced natural, otherwise undisturbed, terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems
of the Colorado Front Range by comparing ecosystem processes and properties east and west of the Continental Divide. The eastern
side receives elevated N deposition from urban, agricultural, and industrial sources, compared with 1–2 kg N y−1 on the western side. Foliage of east side old-growth Englemann spruce forests have significantly lower C:N and lignin:N ratios
and greater N:Mg and N:P ratios. Soil % N is higher, and C:N ratios lower in the east side stands, and potential net N mineralization
rates are greater. Lake NO3 concentrations are significantly higher in eastern lakes than western lakes. Two east side lakes studied paleolimnologically
revealed rapid changes in diatom community composition and increased biovolumes and cell concentrations. The diatom flora
is now representative of increased disturbance or eutrophication. Sediment nitrogen isotopic ratios have become progressively
lighter over the past 50 years, coincident with the change in algal flora, possibly from an influx of isotopically light N
volatilized from agricultural fields and feedlots. Seventy-five percent of the increased east side soil N pool can be accounted
for by increased N deposition commensurate with human settlement. Nitrogen emissions from fixed, mobile, and agricultural
sources have increased dramatically since approximately 1950 to the east of the Colorado Front Range, as they have in many
parts of the world. Our findings indicate even slight increases in atmospheric deposition lead to measurable changes in ecosystem
properties.

Metagentiana striata is an alpine annual herbaceous plant endemic to the east of the Qinghai–Tibet (Q–T) Plateau and adjacent areas. The phylogeography of M. striata was studied by sequencing the chloroplast DNA (cpDNA) trn S– trn G intergenic spacer. Ten haplotypes were identified from an investigation of 232 individuals of M. striata from 14 populations covering the entire geographical range of this species. The level of differentiation amongst populations was very high ( G ST = 0.746; N ST = 0.774) and a significant phylogeographical structure was observed ( P < 0.05). An analysis of molecular variance found a high variation amongst populations (76%), with F ST = 0.762 (highly significant, P < 0.001), indicating that little gene flow occurred amongst the different regions; this was explained by the isolation of populations by high mountains along the Q–T Plateau and adjacent areas ( N m = 0.156). Only one ancestral haplotype (A) was common and widespread throughout the distributional range of M. striata. The populations of the Hengduan Mountains region of the south-eastern Q–T Plateau showed high diversity and uniqueness of haplotypes. It is suggested that this region was the potential refugium of M. striata during the Quaternary glaciation, and that interglacial and postglacial range expansion occurred from this refugium. This scenario was in good agreement with the results of nested clade analysis, which inferred that the current spatial distribution of cpDNA haplotypes and populations resulted from range expansion, together with past allopatric fragmentation events. © 2008 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society , 2008, 157 , 125–140. 相似文献
