In this experiment, hand and forearm vasomotor activity was investigated during localised, but stable heating and cooling of the face, hand and thigh, under open-loop (clamped) conditions. It was hypothesised that facial stimulation would provoke the most potent vascular changes. Nine individuals participated in two normothermic trials (mean body temperature clamp: 36.6 °C; water-perfused suit and climate chamber) and two mildly hyperthermic trials (37.9 °C). Localised heating (+5 °C) and cooling (−5 °C) stimuli were applied to equal surface areas of the face, hand and thigh (perfusion patches: 15 min), while contralateral forearm or hand blood flows (venous-occlusion plethysmography) were measured (separate trials). Thermal sensation and discomfort votes were recorded before and during each thermal stimulation. When hyperthermic, local heating induced more sensitive vascular responses, with the combined thermosensitivity of both limb segments averaging 0.011 mL·100 mL−1·min−1·mmHg−1·°C−1, and 0.005 mL·100 mL−1·min−1·mmHg−1·°C−1 during localised cooling (P<0.05). Inter-site comparisons among the stimulated sites yielded minimal evidence of variations in local thermal sensation, and no differences were observed for vascular conductance (P>0.05). Therefore, regional differences in vasomotor and sensory sensitivity appeared not to exist. When combined with previous observations of sudomotor sensitivity, it seems that, during mild heating and cooling, regional representations within the somatosensory cortex may not translate into meaningful differences in thermal sensation or the central integration of thermoafferent signals. It was concluded that inter-site variations in the cutaneous thermosensitivity of these thermolytic effectors have minimal physiological significance over the ranges investigated thus far.  相似文献

Many species of amphibians in the wet tropics of Australia have experienced population declines linked with the emergence of a skin-invasive chytrid fungus, Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis. An innate defense, antimicrobial peptides produced by granular glands in the skin, may protect some species from disease. Here we present evidence that supports this hypothesis. We tested ten synthesized peptides produced by Australian species, and natural peptide mixtures from five Queensland rainforest species. Natural mixtures and most peptides tested in isolation inhibited growth of B. dendrobatidis in vitro. The three most active peptides (caerin 1.9, maculatin 1.1, and caerin 1.1) were found in the secretions of non-declining species (Litoria chloris, L. caerulea, and L. genimaculata). Although the possession of a potent isolated antimicrobial peptide does not guarantee protection from infection, non-declining species (L. lesueuri and L. genimaculata) inhabiting the rainforest of Queensland possess mixtures of peptides that may be more protective than those of the species occurring in the same habitat that have recently experienced population declines associated with chytridiomycosis (L. nannotis, L. rheocola, and Nyctimystes dayi). This study demonstrates that in vitro effectiveness of skin peptides correlates with the degree of decline in the face of an emerging pathogen. Further research is needed to assess whether this non-specific immune defense may be useful in predicting disease susceptibility in other species.  相似文献

目的 调查皮肤软组织感染病原菌的种类及耐药性,为临床合理使用抗菌药物提供科学依据.方法 利用WHONET 5.6对2009年1月至2011年12月皮肤软组织感染患者脓液或分泌物细菌培养及药敏试验结果进行回顾性分析.结果 共分离菌株444株,金黄色葡萄球菌(SAU)分离率居第1位,171株占38.5%;表皮葡萄球菌居第2位,54株占12.2%;铜绿假单胞菌第3位,43株占9.7%;头孢哌酮/舒巴坦、哌拉西林/他唑巴坦、阿米卡星、亚胺培南和美罗培南对革兰阴性杆菌有较好的抗菌活性(耐药率≤3.3%);金黄色葡萄球菌对青霉素和红霉素的耐药率为93.6%和65.0%,对呋喃妥因、利奈唑胺、利福平、莫西沙星和左旋氧氟沙星耐药率为0%、0%、1.4%、2.2%和9.3%,未检出万古霉素耐药株;耐甲氧西林金黄色葡萄球菌(MRSA)检出率25.7% (44/171);MRSA和甲氧西林敏感金黄色葡萄球菌(MSSA)对氨苄西林/舒巴坦、利福平、莫西沙星三种药物的敏感性差异有统计学意义.结论 引起皮肤软组织感染病原菌以阳性球菌尤其是金黄色葡萄球菌为主,临床上应尽量根据药敏试验结果选用抗生素,合理用药.  相似文献

We evaluated the paper by Maley et al. (2020) in this journal “Infrared cameras overestimate skin temperature during rewarming from cold Exposure” for the evidence provided in support of its title and conclusions. Several methodological issues were identified as well as issues with the data interpretation: 1: Only one camera was used but a conclusion was made for ‘cameras’ in general; 2: The camera accuracy (±2 °C) is too low to do a meaningful comparison without using local reference values or an on-site calibrator with higher accuracy; 3: Thermistor measurements are taken as a gold standard while issues such as temperature gradients and taping are known; 4: Both methods are not compared at the same location and a natural, physiological, gradient may be present between their locations; 5. The impact of the sensor and tape on delays in the change of the underlying tissue temperature is not considered; 6: Only a single pixel was used for the analysis, which has been shown to be problematic.We concluded that the paper by Maley et al. does not provide conclusive evidence that infrared cameras overestimate skin temperature during rewarming from cold exposure.  相似文献

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is a proven carcinogen, responsible for more than half of all human malignancies. It also compromises skin appearance and function. Since the UV action spectra for DNA damage, skin cancer and Vitamin D3 (vit D) photosynthesis are identical and vit D is readily available from oral supplements, why has sun protection become controversial, now that some data suggest conventionally “sufficient” levels of vit D may be less than optimal for at least some population groups? First, the media and apparently some researchers are hungry for a new message. Nevertheless, after 50 years, UV exposure is still a major avoidable health hazard. Second, the controversy is fueled by a powerful special interest group: the indoor tanning industry. They target not the frail elderly or inner-city ethnic minorities, groups for whom evidence of vit D insufficiency is strongest, but rather fair-skinned teenagers and young adults, those at highest risk of UV photodamage. Third, evolution does not keep pace with civilization. When nature gave man the appealing capacity for vit D photosynthesis, the expected lifespan was far less than 40 years. Long-term photodamage was not a concern, and vit D was not available at the corner store. The medical community should avoid sensationalism and instead rigorously explore possible cause-and-effect relationships between vit D status and specific diseases while advocating the safest possible means of assuring vit D sufficiency.  相似文献

Chemokines play a critical role in the acute transplant rejection. In order to provide an overview of the chemokine expression during the course of acute allograft rejection, the intragraft expression profile of 11 chemokines representative of all four chemokine subfamilies was analyzed in a murine skin transplantation model of acute rejection. It was found that RANTES/CCL5, TARC/CCL17 and FKN/CX3CL1 were expressed at equivalent levels in iso- and allografts. However, the other eight chemokines expression was up-regulated to some extent in allograft compared with that in isograft. The levels of MIP-1α/CCL3, MIP-3α/CCL20 and CTACK/CCL27 were progressively increased from early stage (day 3 post-transplantation) to late stage (day 11). Mig/CXCL9, IP-10/CXCL10, I-TAC/CXCL11, CXCL16 and LTN/XCL1 expression was elevated at middle stage (day 7), and peaked at late stage. Among the up-regulated chemokines, I-TAC was the most obviously elevated chemokine. Therefore, the effect of I-TAC on the skin acute allograft rejection was evaluated. Block of I-TAC by the intradermal injection of anti-I-TAC monoclonal antibody (mAb) reduced the number of CXCR3+ cells in skin allograft and significantly prolonged the skin allograft survival. The mAb treatment did not influence the proliferation of the intragraft infiltrating cells in response to the allogeneic antigens, but significantly decreased the number of the infiltrating cells and consequently lowered the secretion of IFN-γ and TNF-α. These data indicate I-TAC might be a dominant chemokine involved in the intradermal infiltration and I-TAC-targeted intervening strategies would have potential application for the alleviation of acute transplant rejection.  相似文献

摘要:丝素蛋白是一种天然的高分子纤维蛋白,其结构的特殊性决定了较好的机械性能,再因其优良的生物相容性、降解产物无毒等特点,被广泛用于各种材料的研究。通过各种化学修饰和负载生长因子等,使丝素蛋白在体内外具有促进成纤维细胞增殖分化的作用,拥有诱导创面愈合的功能,同时其可部分降解,具有缓释性能好,柔韧性强,透气以及透水等较好的理化性质不但在皮肤组织工程学中的广泛的应用,并且在敷料领域的研究也显示了其治疗烧烫伤、创伤达到抑制疤痕、促进伤口快速愈合的治疗效果。总之,通过改良丝素蛋白材料的加工方法,通过化学修饰、其他物质复合等手段得到适合于皮肤修复的具有优良性能的各种材料,是具有很大潜力的极具临床价值的皮肤修复材料。本文旨在综述国内及国外学者的各种关于丝素蛋白生物材料治疗皮肤损伤的研究最新进展。  相似文献
