Abstract: Restudy of skulls and available postcrania of the proterochampsian archosauriform Proterochampsa barrionuevoi from the Ischigualasto Formation (Upper Triassic, Carnian) in the San Juan Province, Argentina, confirms that the genus is diagnosed by autapomorphies that include dermal sculpturing consisting of prominent ridges and nodular protuberances, a large hook‐like lateral projection on the quadratojugal, an antorbital fossa restricted to a depression along the maxilla, lateral expansion of the premaxilla anterior to the premaxilla–maxilla contact, absence of a supratemporal fossa, exclusion of jugal from suborbital fenestra, basal tubera of parabasisphenoid facing ventrally and reaching laterally beyond the basipterygoid process, and a ventral lamina on the angular. Proterochampsa nodosa is a valid species distinguished from Pbarrionuevoi by fewer cranial ridges with larger protuberances, relatively smaller supratemporal fenestrae and width of frontals between orbits less than that of the nasals. A phylogenetic analysis supports the monophyly of Proterochampsia consisting of Proterochampsa, Chanaresuchus bonapartei, Gualosuchus reigi, Tropidosuchus romeri and Cerritosaurus binsfeldi. A temporal separation between the two basal proterochampsians with earliest records in the Late Triassic (Proterochampsa and Cerritosaurus) and Chanaresuchus, Gualosuchus and Tropidosuchus in the Middle Triassic indicates hidden proterochampsian diversity in the Middle Triassic.  相似文献

浙江淳安县大坑坞剖面安吉组底部化石丰富,其中腕足动物组合属于BA3中上部,指示正常浅海底域环境。作者通过分析该层位腕足化石标本的围岩发现一个低分异度的几丁虫组合,包含3属4种,即Ancyrochitina sp.,Belonechitina cf.postrobusta sensu Butcher,Belonechitina sp.,Spinachitina verniersi。该组合具有强烈的奥陶-志留纪过渡色彩,其时代可定为奥陶纪末期至志留纪初期。这是首次在该地区获得奥陶-志留纪过渡地层的几丁虫,有助于开展国际奥陶-志留系界线精细划分对比研究。文中描述了Belonechinacf.postrobusta和Spinachiti-naverniersi。  相似文献

描述了在内蒙古二连盆地新采集的保存较完好的冠齿兽类化石。基于牙齿特征的比较认为:Eudinoceras kholobolchiensis Osborn&Granger,1931、E.obailiensis Gabunia,1961、Metacoryphodon luminis Chow&Qi,1982和M.?minorQi,1987的个体大小、上前臼齿前尖V形脊角度、原尖前后棱发育程度、上下臼齿脊形化程度和尖脊形状及位置等特征与E.mongoliensisOsborn,1924一致,应视为后者的次主观异名;M.xintaiensisChow&Qi,1982应归入Eudinoceras属,变更为E.xintaiensis;Metacoryphodon为无效命名,应予废除。厘定后的Eudinoceras属共含有6个有效种:E.zhichengensis Lei etal., 1987、E.youngiXu,1980、E.xintaiensis Chow&Qi,1982、E.mongoliensis Osborn,1924、E.crassum Tong&Tang,1977和E.sishuiensis Wang,1994。修订了Eudinoceras属和E.mongoliensis种的齿列特征。将二连盆地冠齿兽类化石的产出层位对应至该盆地重新厘定的地层框架中,E.mongoliensis集中在阿山头组,能确定的最早出现层位为阿山头组底部的AS-1层,最晚出现层位为阿山头组上部的AS-5层,其时代为早始新世中期,约为53~49Ma。  相似文献

Dolichocebus is known from the type skull encased in a concretion, numerous isolated teeth, parts of two mandibles, and a talus. The specimens come from the Trelew Member (early Miocene, Colhuehuapian South American Land Mammal Age) of the Sarmiento Formation near the village of Gaiman, Chubut Province, Argentina, dated to about 20Ma. We describe all Dolichocebus fossil material using conventional surface anatomy and micro-CT data from the cranium. The new material and newly imaged internal anatomy of the skull demonstrate that anatomical characters hitherto supposed to support a phyletic link between Dolichocebus and either callitrichines (marmosets, tamarins, and Callimico) or Saimiri (squirrel monkeys) are either indeterminate or absent. To more fully explore the phyletic position of Dolichocebus, we undertook a comprehensive phylogenetic analysis. We examined 268 characters of the cranium and dentition of 16 living platyrrhine genera, some late Oligocene and early Miocene platyrrhines, Tarsius, some Eocene and Oligocene stem anthropoids, and several extant catarrhines. These analyses consistently indicate that Dolichocebus is a stem platyrrhine, as are late Oligocene Branisella and early Miocene Tremacebus, Soriacebus, and Carlocebus. Platyrrhine evolution often is conceived of as a single ancient adaptive radiation. Review of all available phyolgenetic data suggests a more layered evolutionary pattern, with several independent extinct clades filling modern platyrrhine niche space, and modern platyrrhine families and subfamilies appearing over a nine-million-year interval in the Miocene. The outcome of these analyses highlights the pervasiveness of homoplasy in dental and cranial characters. Homoplasy is a real evolutionary phenomenon that is present at all levels of biological analysis, from amino-acid sequences to aspects of adult bony morphology, behavior, and adaptation.  相似文献

The aim of this work was to study the role of H3O+ and transition-metal (TM) ions in keto-enol and amino-imino tautomeric transitions in DNA base pairs and depurination. In this regard, we discuss the thermodynamic model of ion-DNA interactions and UV display of double-proton transfer (DPT) in GC. The probabilities and energies of rare tautomeric forms of GC pairs in DNA induced by H3O+ and TMwere determined being in the range from0.02 (forMg2+) to 1 ( forCu2+), and from 0 kcal/m (for Cu2+) to 2.3 kcal/m (for Mg2+), respectively. It was shown that 3'ACC5'/5'TGG3' site of DNA double helix, which corresponds to the only triplet 5'UGG3' of RNA that codes the most valuable amino acid tryptophan, is a good target for TM ions to attack. It was also shown that the only way to obtain the tryptophan-coding 5'UGG3' triplet in RNA via transition-type G --> A point mutation caused by TM ions is their interaction with the site of a DNA double helix, which corresponds to 5'CGG3' triplet of RNA that codes arginine.  相似文献

In 1905, Nopcsa tentatively identified a fragmentary rib from the Jibou Formation at Someş Odorhei as belonging to an ornithopod dinosaur. Therefore, he concluded that the base of this formation is Late Cretaceous, but this hypothesis was subsequently ignored or rejected by other authors. New dinosaur bones discovered in this locality by new excavations are here interpreted as belonging to the euornithopod Zalmoxes shqiperorum Weishampel, Jianu, Csiki and Norman, 2003. The base of the Jibou Formation can therefore be regarded as Maastrichtian, correlative to the Sânpetru Formation and to the middle member of the Densuş Ciula Formation from the Haţeg Basin, as well as the base of the Şard Formation in the southwestern Basin of Transylvania, in the Alba Iulia area. The presence of Zalmoxes at Someş Odorhei also confirms the northeastern extension for the ‘Haţeg Island’ in Transylvania.  相似文献

The Meishucun stage is the prelude in decipher-ing the Cambrian Explosion. In this prominent stage, rapid radioactive evolution and body-plan innovation have taken place and different associations of organism have been shaped. In this paper we report several 3D-preserved rare star-like fossils with finely preserved soft tissues which were recovered from the Kuanchuanpu Member of the Dengying Formation in South Shaanxi, China in 2003. By studying on functional morphology and analogy with mouthpart of Punctatus, there are evidences that this star-like organism approaches the coelenterates in systematic classification and the centre of star-like organism is its mouth. The appearance of coelenterates marks the real beginning of metazoan evolution. Therefore, it has the prominent position in the origin and evolutionary history of organisms. Perhaps the star-like organism represents the early types of coelenterate with original tentacles. These new materials provide new evidence for the origin, evolution and the functional evolution of the metazoan during the early stage of the Cambrian Explosion.  相似文献

The Upper Ordovician (late Whiterockian to Mohawkian) Lourdes Formation represents a narrow (tens of kilometers), short-lived [∼5–7 million years (my)], open-ocean (high-energy) mixed siliciclastic-carbonate ramp that onlapped allochthonous strata along the orogen side of the local Taconic foreland basin. Platform development followed a 6–8 my hiatus during which weathering had concentrated chemically mature siliciclastics that were admixed with initial carbonate sediments. A cross-platform facies gradient contains paleokarst and peritidal carbonates and sandstones, shallow-ramp carbonate bioherms and skeletal shoals, and deeper ramp calcareous shales. Transgressive systems tracts are marked by ramp-wide sheets and shoals of skeletal grainstone and low accumulation rates, and highstand systems tracts are marked by significant admixture and interbedding of siliciclastics with cross-ramp carbonate facies. Platform demise coincides with increased siliciclastic input, which is likely tectonically influenced. The Lourdes platform is equivalent to epicontinental foreland ramps along eastern Laurentia, but its narrower width precluded formation of oceanographically restricted platform-interior facies.  相似文献

The Tale-Zang Formation in Zagros Mountains (south-west Iran) is a Lower to Middle Eocene carbonate sequence. Carbonate sequences of the Tale-Zang Formation consist mainly of large benthic foraminifera (e.g. Nummulites and Alveolina), along with other skeletal and non-skeletal components. Water depth during deposition of the formation was determined based on the variation and types of benthic foraminifera, and other components in different facies. Microfacies analysis led to the recognition of ten microfacies that are related to four facies belts such as tidal flat, lagoon, shoal and open marine. An absence of turbidite deposits, reefal facies, gradual facies changes and widespread tidal flat deposits indicate that the Tale-Zang Formation was deposited in a carbonate ramp environment. Due to the great diversity and abundance of larger benthic foraminifera, this carbonate ramp is referred to as a “foraminifera-dominated carbonate ramp system”. Based on the field observations, microfacies analysis and sequence stratigraphic studies, three third-order sequences in the Langar type section and one third-order sequence in the Kialo section were identified. These depositional sequences have been separated by both type-1 and type-2 sequence boundaries. The transgressive systems tracts of sequences show a gradual upward increase in perforate foraminifera, whereas the highstand systems tracts of sequences contain predominantly imperforate foraminifera.  相似文献
