重金属是水体沉积物中的重要污染物,可能对底栖生物和水生态环境产生严重的危害.生物效应数据库法是国际上广泛接受的沉积物质量基准计算方法.本文介绍了利用该方法计算沉积物质量基准的详细过程,并应用该方法初步建立了Cu、Zn、Cd、Pb、Ni 5种重金属的淡水沉积物质量基准,对建立基准值进行了可比性、可靠性和可预测性分析.结果表明: Cd、Ni、Pb、Zn、Cu的临界效应浓度(TEL)分别为3.0、31.4、47.3、74.9和45.5 mg·kg-1(以干质量计),可能效应浓度值(PEL)为19、76.9、204.1、403.6和181.1 mg·kg-1(以干质量计).除Zn外,其他4种重金属的TEL、PEL值与其定义的生物效应基本一致,符合针对保护底栖生物制定的沉积物质量基准的要求,具有较高的可靠性,可以作为淡水水体沉积物重金属质量基准建议值.  相似文献

Summary .   A general framework for regression analysis of time-to-event data subject to arbitrary patterns of censoring is proposed. The approach is relevant when the analyst is willing to assume that distributions governing model components that are ordinarily left unspecified in popular semiparametric regression models, such as the baseline hazard function in the proportional hazards model, have densities satisfying mild "smoothness" conditions. Densities are approximated by a truncated series expansion that, for fixed degree of truncation, results in a "parametric" representation, which makes likelihood-based inference coupled with adaptive choice of the degree of truncation, and hence flexibility of the model, computationally and conceptually straightforward with data subject to any pattern of censoring. The formulation allows popular models, such as the proportional hazards, proportional odds, and accelerated failure time models, to be placed in a common framework; provides a principled basis for choosing among them; and renders useful extensions of the models straightforward. The utility and performance of the methods are demonstrated via simulations and by application to data from time-to-event studies.  相似文献

Levels of transaction costs in community‐based forest management (CBFM) in four communities adjacent to the Ambangulu mountain forests of the north‐east of Tanzania were assessed through questionnaire responses from 120 households. Costs and benefits of CBFM to the rich, medium and poor groups of forest users were estimated. Costs of CBFM were participation in forest monitoring and time spent in meetings. Benefits included forest products consumed at household level. Transaction costs relative to benefits for CBFM were found to be higher for poorer households compared with medium income and richer households. Higher income groups obtained the most net benefits followed by medium and poorer households. Community involvement in forest management may lower the transaction costs incurred by government, but a large proportion of these costs are borne by poorer members of the community. Transaction costs are critical factors in the success or failure of CBFM and need to be incorporated into policies and legislation related to community‐based natural resource management.  相似文献

The topic of ecological, practical, and political considerations in the selection of weed targets for biological control has been widely discussed during the past two decades, mostly from the perspective of insect herbivores. For conceptual and practical purposes, plant pathogens have been treated in these discussions as if they are a subset of inoculative biocontrol agents, with little said about the inherent differences between pathogens and insects as biocontrol agents or the selection of weed targets for control by the inundative, bioherbicide strategy. Herein, I attempt to address the question of what makes a good biological control target for plant pathogens used as inoculative as well as inundative agents, basing my analysis on examples from the past three decades. Despite the small number of examples available for this analysis, the following generalizations can be made: (1) Weeds with robust capacity for vegetative regeneration are more difficult to control with pathogens than those that lack this trait. (2) A plant’s growth habit is not a reliable guide for target selection; weeds that have been successfully controlled include annual and biennial herbs, perennial shrubs, perennial vines, and trees, while numerous failures have been reported irrespective of the target’s growth habit or reproductive mode. (3) It is more challenging to control species with genetic heterogeneity and capacity for introgression than genetically homogeneous and reproductively conserved species. (4) Matching the target host’s susceptibility with the candidate pathogen’s virulence is of utmost importance for biocontrol success since host–pathogen interactions at the species and subspecies levels are often governed by single-gene differences (e.g., varietal specificity). (5) Practical and political considerations are central to the selection of targets for control with pathogens. (6) Demand from influential stakeholders for control and/or for a nonchemical or economically sustainable control typically drives the initiative as well as the continuance of biocontrol projects to their completion. (7) In the case of inundative, bioherbicide agents, the continuity and ultimate implementation of a project will be dictated by the prospects of economic returns from developing and using a pathogen. (8) The stakeholders’ perceptions of the effectiveness of a biocontrol program can be unpredictable, leading to conflicting views of “success.” In the final analysis, a good weed target for control by a pathogen is one that has strong stakeholder backing and the list of available pathogens for the target suggests a possibility of acceptable control at a cost that is competitive with those of other control options. While this conclusion is also applicable to target selection for insect biocontrol agents, it is more relevant for pathogens because of limited funding and personnel available for development of pathogens and the added cost and technological complexity of implementing bioherbicides compared to classical biocontrols.  相似文献

Little is known about the genetic basis of residual feed intake (RFI) variation in fish, since this trait is highly sensitive to environmental influences, and feed intake of individuals is difficult to measure accurately. The purpose of this work was (i) to assess the genetic variability of RFI estimated by an X-ray technique and (ii) to develop predictive criteria for RFI. Two predictive criteria were tested: loss of body weight during feed deprivation and compensatory growth during re-feeding. Ten heterozygous rainbow trout clones were used. Individual intake and body weight were measured three times at threeweek intervals. Then, individual body weight was recorded after two cycles of a three-week feed deprivation followed by a three-week re-feeding. The ratio of the genetic variance to the phenotypic variance was found high to moderate for growth, feed intake, and RFI (VG/VP = 0.63 ± 0.11, 0.29 ± 0.11, 0.29 ± 0.09, respectively). The index that integrates performances achieved during deprivation and re-feeding periods explained 59% of RFI variations. These results provide a basis for further studies on the origin of RFI differences and show that indirect criteria are good candidates for future selective breeding programs.  相似文献

Objective:  There are a number of unresolved issues in endometrial cytology. They include the significance of nuclear atypia for the diagnosis of grade1 adenocarcinoma (G1AC) and atypical endometrial hyperplasia (AEH), cytological criteria of endometrial hyperplasia without atypia, and recognition of stromal cell cluster (SC) and its distinction from epithelial cell cluster (EC).
Methods:  We examined nuclear atypia, SC and EC in typical cases of five categories: normal endometrium (NEM), simple endometrial hyperplasia without atypia (SEH), complex endometrial hyperplasia without atypia (CEH), G1AC and grade2 adenocarcinoma (G2AC). We classified EC into four types: simple EC (SPEC), large regular EC (LREC), large irregular EC (LIEC) and small irregular EC (SIEC). Based on the results, we developed criteria of endometrial cytology and have evaluated 13 639 cases over 8 years.
Results:  Nuclear atypia was significantly more frequent in G2AC than in any of the other four categories ( P  <   0.001). SC was significantly more frequent in NEM and SEH than in the other three categories ( P  <   0.001). G1AC and G2AC showed significantly higher frequency of LIEC than the other three categories ( P  <   0.001). CEH exhibited significantly higher frequency of LREC than the four categories ( P  <   0.001). The sensitivity and the specificity was 88.8% and 99.0% respectively.
Conclusions:  We could diagnose G1AC, G2AC and CEH with high accuracy using the established criteria mainly based on SC and EC. We think that the criteria may facilitate an effective screening and an objective interpretation of endometrial samples.  相似文献

We developed a gel- and label-free proteomics platform for comparative studies of human serum. The method involves the depletion of the six most abundant proteins, protein fractionation by Off-Gel IEF and RP-HPLC, followed by tryptic digestion, LC-MS/MS, protein identification, and relative quantification using probabilistic peptide match score summation (PMSS). We evaluated performance and reproducibility of the complete platform and the individual dimensions, by using chromatograms of the RP-HPLC runs, PMSS based abundance scores and abundance distributions as objective endpoints. We were interested if a relationship exists between the quantity ratio and the PMSS score ratio. The complete analysis was performed four times with two sets of serum samples containing different concentrations of spiked bovine beta-lactoglobulin (0.1 and 0.3%, w/w). The two concentrations resulted in significantly differing PMSS scores when compared to the variability in PMSS scores of all other protein identifications. We identified 196 proteins, of which 116 were identified four times in corresponding fractions whereof 73 qualified for relative quantification. Finally, we characterized the PMSS based protein abundance distributions with respect to the two dimensions of fractionation and discussed some interesting patterns representing discrete isoforms. We conclude that combination of Off-Gel electrophoresis (OGE) and HPLC is a reproducible protein fractionation technique, that PMSS is applicable for relative quantification, that the number of quantifiable proteins is always smaller than the number of identified proteins and that reproducibility of protein identifications should supplement probabilistic acceptance criteria.  相似文献

Complementarity of the nature reserve network in southernmost Finlandwas examined using a simple heuristic algorithm and occurrence data of 75characteristic herb-rich forest vascular plant species in 126 protected and 120non-protected sites. Three different minimum sets were selected to represent 1,5, or 10 occurrences of each species. In each minimum set there weresignificantly more protected than non-protected sites. Thus, although efficiencyis not maximal in the existing reserve network, the network does provide arepresentative basis for the conservation of herb-rich forest plants. However,some deficiencies were also noticed, particularly new reserves in floristicallydiverse herb-rich forests along watercourses would supplement the existingreserve network. On the other hand, the growing concern over the shortcomings ofreserve selection studies using presence/absence data is echoed here, becausemany of the protected forests not included in the minimum sets harbour importantnature conservation values. With regard to the five biological reserve selectioncriteria (e.g. occurrences of threatened species) considered here, theperformance of the existing reserve network is rather good. However, examinationof five reserve design criteria revealed some deficiencies, particularlyvulnerability of many reserves to potential edge effects.  相似文献

This paper suggests a model building methodology for dealing with new processes. The methodology, called Hybrid Fuzzy Neural Networks (HFNN), combines unsupervised fuzzy clustering and supervised neural networks in order to create simple and flexible models. Fuzzy clustering was used to define relevant domains on the input space. Then, sets of multilayer perceptrons (MLP) were trained (one for each domain) to map input-output relations, creating, in the process, a set of specified sub-models. The estimated output of the model was obtained by fusing the different sub-model outputs weighted by their predicted possibilities. On-line reinforcement learning enabled improvement of the model. The determination of the optimal number of clusters is fundamental to the success of the HFNN approach. The effectiveness of several validity measures was compared to the generalization capability of the model and information criteria. The validity measures were tested with fermentation simulations and real fermentations of a yeast-like fungus, Aureobasidium pullulans. The results outline the criteria limitations. The learning capability of the HFNN was tested with the fermentation data. The results underline the advantages of HFNN over a single neural network.  相似文献

Based on an analysis of 90 marine fish populations, collapses (the greatest proportional reduction in spawner biomass over 15 years) are predicated typically by dramatic increases in fishing mortality and recoveries are more likely to occur when exploitation is reduced. However, among populations for which fishing mortality declined after collapse, recovery was independent of exploitation rate, even when fishing mortality (F) post-collapse was expressed as a function of each population's maximum growth rate (r). After a period of 15 years, many populations that experienced 15 year declines >60% exhibited little or no recovery, despite considerable reductions in fishing mortality. This suggests that factors other than fishing may be considerably more important to recovery, and fishing less important, than previously thought. Furthermore, among populations for which fishing mortality decreased post-collapse, rate of population decline was a reliable predictor of recovery. With the possible exception of clupeids, variation in marine fish breeding population size was found to differ little from that of other vertebrates, and such variability appears to have no effect on rate of recovery. In addition to providing an empirical framework for the study of population collapse and recovery, the analyses presented here provide a means of assessing the precautionary nature of various population-decline thresholds used to assign extinction risks to marine fish.  相似文献
