A group of insect growth regulators, the chitin synthesis inhibitors (CSIs), are being more widely used as many insects have become resistant to broad-spectrum insecticides. This study investigated the mode of action of one CSI, particularly looking at the delayed effect of treating adult insects on the survival and development of their progeny. The study describes the responses of adult stored grain beetles Sitophilus oryzae (L.) (Curculionidae) and Rhyzopertha dominica (F.) (Bostrichidae) to wheat treated with chlorfluazuron. For both species, wheat treated with chlorfluazuron reduced progeny survival at a constant rate from 1 day to 8 weeks after it had been treated. There was a direct, negative concentration-time relationship between the treatment of the adults with chlorfluazuron-treated wheat and the survival and developmental rate of their progeny. Adults that were pre-exposed for one or more weeks before oviposition to wheat treated with chlorfluazuron had significantly lower progeny survival than adults that were not pre-exposed. The EC95 values were 16-fold higher for R. dominica and 40-fold higher for S. oryzae from assays without pre-exposure, than with pre-exposure. Pre-exposure of R. dominica with 0.1 mg kg-1 and of S. oryzae with 0.4 mg kg-1 of chlorfluazuron reduced progeny survival by 95%. Higher concentrations of chlorfluazuron produced a reduction in mean population developmental time of several days. These findings have important implications for bioassays of CSIs, since pre-exposure of the adults can significantly reduce the numbers of F1 progeny. Effects of crowding, food deprivation, and type of cereal diet upon flight initiation, development, body weight, lipid content, and fatty acid composition of the lesser grain borer, Rhyzopertha dominica (F.), were studied in two field strains and one laboratory strain. Beetles of all strains reared under crowded conditions had significantly higher flight initiation than beetles reared on isolated kernels (uncrowded). Regardless of degree of crowding, flight initiation increased with the period of food deprivation up to a maximum at 24 h, after which flight initiation declined. Body weight and lipid content decreased as the food deprivation period increased, whereas fatty acid composition was not significantly affected by food deprivation. Beetles from a field strain collected in 1995 had higher flight initiation and increased lipid content compared with beetles from the laboratory strain. However, beetles from the laboratory strain were larger, developed faster, and were more fecund than beetles from this field strain. The cereal diet on which beetles were reared also had a significant effect on flight initiation, lipid content, and fatty acid composition. Beetles reared on whole rice and wheat produced adults with higher flight initiation, higher lipid content, and higher oleic acid concentration than beetles reared on whole corn and sorghum. 相似文献

对胡芦巴Trigonella foenum-graecum L.中杀虫活性成分进行超临界CO2萃取分离,并以主要储粮害虫谷蠹Rhyzopertha dominica Fabricius为对象,对其触杀活性进行研究。采用正交试验设计,以萃取液中活性成分的得率、毒力为考察指标,对杀虫活性成分的提取条件进行优化。结果表明:最佳萃取工艺为萃取压力25 MPa,萃取温度55℃ ,夹带剂为95%乙醇,固液比为200 g:30 mL。萃取压力和夹带剂体积对试验指标有非常显著的影响,萃取温度和夹带剂浓度的影响较小。优化后的萃取方案可达到5.96%的得率。萃取产物对谷蠹的触杀试验结果显示,优化后的超临界CO2萃取工艺对胡芦巴中的杀虫物质具有良好的选择性,得到的萃取物对谷蠹处理10天后的致死中浓度为65.03 μg/cm2,触杀活性明显增加。 相似文献

采用滤纸药膜选择法研究了蛇床子、茵陈、萹蓄等12种药用植物乙醇提取物对谷蠹Rhizopertha dominica(Fab.)和赤拟谷盗Tribolium castaneum Herbst成虫的驱避效应。12种药用植物以蛇床子(Cnidium monnieri)提取物对谷蠹成虫的驱避效果最佳,786μg/cm2处理24h对谷蠹的驱避率达93%;茵陈(Artemisia capillaries)提取物对赤拟谷盗成虫的驱避效果最佳,用393μg/cm2处理72h的驱避率为95%,茵陈提取物以262μg/cm2放置7d后对赤拟谷盗成虫的驱避率可达Ⅴ级水平。茵陈提取物对赤拟谷盗的驱避持效期长、效果好,具有一定的开发前景。 相似文献

采用冷浸法和溶剂萃取法,研究石菖蒲(Acorus gramineus Soland)根茎甲醇提取物对谷蠹Rhizopertha dominica(Fabricius)成虫的生物活性。结果表明,石菖蒲甲醇提取物以石油醚萃取物的生物活性最强,水层次之。石油醚萃取物对谷蠹具有较高的触杀、熏蒸、种群抑制活性和防治效果,并具有一定的驱避活性。药膜法触杀处理72h后对谷蠹的LC50和LC95分别为8.30μg/cm2,51.75μg/cm2。药纸熏蒸法6.25μL/L处理120h后对谷蠹的校正死亡率为94.25%。饲料拌药法250mg/kg处理对谷蠹的防效与5mg/kg马拉硫磷效果相当,且对F1代的种群抑制效果显著高于5mg/kg马拉硫磷处理。 相似文献

dominica (Fab.)成虫的触杀和驱避活性。结果表明:触杀效果以葫芦巴Trigonelia foenum-graecum提取物的活性最强,蛇床子Cnidium monnieri和石菖蒲Acorus gramineus提取物次之。葫芦巴提取物0.39 mg/cm2 浓度处理48 h后对谷蠹的触杀死亡率为100%,处理72 h后对谷蠹的LD50为19.94 μg/cm2。蛇床子和乌头Aconitum carmichaeli提取物对谷蠹成虫具有显著的驱避活性。蛇床子提取物同时具有较好的触杀和驱避活性。 相似文献

采用石菖蒲Acorus gramineus根茎提取物β-细辛醚对谷蠹Rhizopertha dominica成虫进行拌粮处理,测定β-细辛醚对谷蠹体内乙酰胆碱酯酶、谷胱甘肽S-转移酶、羧酸酯酶和酯酶同工酶的时间效应和剂量效应。结果表明:β-细辛醚对试虫体内4种酶的酶活性均表现出较强的时间效应。LC50(94.49 mg/kg)剂量的β-细辛醚处理后,谷蠹成虫体内乙酰胆碱酯酶和谷胱甘肽S-转移酶活性随处理时间的延长整体表现为抑制作用,对羧酸酯酶和酯酶同工酶则表现诱导增加作用。低剂量(67.5 mg/kg)β-细辛醚对乙酰胆碱酯酶具有显著的诱导作用,但是随着处理剂量的升高,对乙酰胆碱酯酶的活力多数表现为抑制作用。低剂量(≤100.0 mg/kg)β-细辛醚对谷胱甘肽S 转移酶具有诱导作用,而高剂量(≥133.3 mg/kg)β-细辛醚对谷胱甘肽S-转移酶具有抑制作用。β-细辛醚对羧酸酯酶的活性多数表现为诱导作用,提高β-细辛醚的处理剂量可提高羧酸酯酶的活力。不同剂量的β-细辛醚处理对谷蠹酯酶同工酶均具有显著的诱导作用,但诱导效果与处理剂量关系并不显著。 相似文献

The virulence of Isaria fumosorosea alone and integrated with an enhanced formulation of diatomaceous earth (diatomaceous earth + bitterbarkomycin, DEBBM) was tested against the lesser grain borer Rhyzopertha dominica (F.) (Coleoptera: Bostrychidae) under laboratory conditions on stored wheat. The fungus was applied to wheat grains at various concentrations of 3.60 × 106, 3.60 × 108, and 3.60 × 1010 conidia/kg alone, or in combination with 15 and 30 ppm of DEBBM. R. dominica was held at 20, 25 and 30°C and two RH regimes (56 and 75%) and mortality was registered after 5, 10 and 15 d. Generally, I. fumosorosea was most effective at 25°C caused the highest mortality of R. dominica at 56% RH. The increase of temperature, concentration and exposure interval increased the insecticidal effect of DEBBM at low RH level. The DE alone suppressed the progeny emergence at higher dose rate as compared I. fumosorosea alone, but their simultaneous use further reduced the progeny production of R. dominica. The integrated use of both tested bio control agents synergized the effect of each other and caused the highest mortality at 25°C and 56% RH. The results clearly demonstrated that I. fumosorosea and new enhanced DEBBM can be integrated to be an effective control measure for R. dominica in stored wheat. 相似文献

Abstract Calamusenone [3,8‐dimethyl‐5‐(1‐methylethylidene)‐1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8‐octahydroazulene‐6‐one, C15H22O] from Acorus gramineus Soland rhizome was tested in the laboratory for its insecticidal activities against adults of Sitophilus zeamais Motsch. and Rhizopertha dominica (Fab.), using dry film contact and fumigation methods. Responses varied with insect species, dosage and exposure time. In the dry film contact experiment, the highest insecticidal effects of calamusenone against S. zeamais and R. dominica adults were produced at 170.32 μg/cm2 after treatment for 72 h, with 96.2% and 98.7% mortalities, respectively. The median lethal concentration (LC50) (72 h) values of calamusenone against S. zeamais and R. dominica adults were 67.00 μg/cm2 and 77.30 μg/cm2, respectively. As a potential fumigant, calamusenone showed moderate insecticidal effect on the adults of S. zeamais and R. dominica in fumigation experiment, with their LC50 (120 h) values of 125.71 μL/L and 93.64 μL/L respectively. Calamusenone isolated from A. gramineus rhizome showed promise as a novel pesticide candidate for stored‐product pest control. 相似文献

Stored wheat grains are vulnerable to attack by Sitophilus oryzae and Rhyzopertha dominica, which deteriorate the quality of the infested commodities, depletes nutrition value and makes them unfit for human consumption. The susceptibility of two Egyptian local (MISR1 and SIDS12) and four imported wheat (Hard Australian wheat, American Hard Red Winter, American Soft Red Winter and Romanian wheat) cultivars to infestation by S. oryzae and R. dominica was investigated. The Romanian cultivar was the most susceptible at infestation level of 20 adults/250g. For the other two infestation levels (10 and 15 adults/250g), the Romanian and American (SRW) varieties showed high susceptibility to S. oryzae by 5.13 and 5.52% and 4.32 and 4.76% for both varieties, in respect. On the other hand, the infestation with R. dominica showed the minimum weight loss in Romanian wheat and unexpectedly showed maximum number of emerged adults after three months storage. Maximum means of damaged grains were recorded in Romanian and American (HRW) cultivars caused by S. oryzae and R. dominica infestations, respectively. Moreover, chemical changes were recorded in nutritional composition of the grains when they were subjected to infestation with 20 unsexed adults/250g wheat by S. oryzae and R. dominica for three months storage. 相似文献
