北方农牧交错带是我国典型生态脆弱区之一,恶劣的自然环境和落后的基础条件制约着生产和消费的发展。自2000年起,当地实施了一系列生态工程措施,引导农牧民由粗放型生产经营方式向集约型转变,改善区域生态环境的同时也优化了农牧业生产格局,居民食物消费结构随之改变。由于入户跟踪调查数据较难获取,现有食物消费研究缺少长时间尺度的消费特征变化研究,且农区和牧区的对比研究较少。以赤峰和鄂尔多斯为例,采用基于随机抽样调查方法收集的食物消费面板数据,对比研究2000—2020年典型农牧交错区的食物消费类型、结构及其数量变化。结果表明:生态工程实施以来,农牧居民食物消费种类趋于多样化,但消费结构不尽合理。赤峰趋于传统农区以谷类为主的消费结构,其谷类消费正在稳步减少,其他食物类型的消费增加;鄂尔多斯表现为多粮肉、少果蔬的消费结构,兼具农牧区的消费特点,其谷类和畜肉消费的年际波动较大,体现出传统牧区粗放式经营下产出不稳定的特点。食物消费总量持续增长,截至2020年,农牧居民谷类消费偏多,肉蛋类、豆类和食用油消费较为适度,薯类和果蔬类消费不足,奶类消费涨幅虽十分突出,但仍比我国膳食标准低20倍以上,因此减少谷类消...  相似文献

Health risk assessment due to groundwater As contamination was conducted in two As-prone panchayats, Rampur Diara (RD) and Haldichapra (HC) of the Maner block of the Patna district, Bihar (India). All 100% of the water samples surveyed were found to be contaminated with As with a mean value of 52 μg/L (n = 10) in RD and 231 μg/L (n = 10) in HC, both exceeding the World Health Organization (WHO) guideline of 10 μg/L and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) standard of 50 μg/L, respectively. The average calculated per capita consumption of As through drinking water in RD ranged from 120 μg/day for 5–10-year-old children to 320 μg/day for adults older than 41 years, while in HC the average calculated As through consumption ranged from 580 μg/day for 5–10-year-old children to 1470 μg/day for adults older than 41 years. Hazard quotients were calculated to be between 12.1 to 41.6 for the RD population and 58.3 to 192.5 for the HC population, both exceeding the typical toxic risk index 1. In addition, cancer risk of 19 per 1000 was found for RD children and 87 per 1000 for HC children. Visible symptoms of Arsenicosis were also observed in the area.  相似文献

The oxygen distribution in various bio-hybrid systems composed of cellular tissue on an artificial scaffold was estimated by mathematically modeling the oxygen consumption and diffusion. Mathematical models were established for practical systems such as bio-hybrid artificial liver (BAL) and bio-hybrid blood vessels, and the calculated results were compared with corresponding experimental data. Analysis of a spherical organoid (“spheroid”) composed of hepatic cells suggested that the oxygen consumption rate in hepatocyte spheroids incubated in a BAL is one or two orders of magnitude larger than the total average value that had been calculated for various organs. A model was established for a BAL system on a scaffold of commercially available hollow fiber (typical inner and outer radii of 150 and 200 μm) to determine the optimal conditions under which the hepatocytes can be packed as closely as possible into the hollow fiber lumen while still maintaining viability without falling into oxygen deficiency. A model of bio-hybrid blood vessels formed by vascular endothelial cells incubated on the inner wall of a hollow fiber scaffold was used to estimate the maximum thickness of viable endothelial tissue under various conditions of outer partial oxygen pressure and different sizes and permeabilities of the hollow fiber scaffold. The model suggested that the oxygen supply becomes quite restricted when the hollow fiber membrane is thicker than 100 μm; the thickness of the endothelium in a 500 μm-thick hollow fiber membrane was estimated to be 7 μm at most, even when the membrane permeability was as large as that of the culture medium.  相似文献

We investigated the effect of CH-19 Sweet, a nonpungent cultivar of red pepper, on body temperature and oxygen consumption in humans. CH-19 Sweet was given to 11 healthy volunteers, and core body temperature, body surface temperature and oxygen consumption were measured. The control group ingested California-Wandar, which contained neither capsaicin nor capsiate. The core body temperature in the CH-19 Sweet group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.01). The forehead temperature measured by infrared thermography in the CH-19 Sweet group was significantly higher than that in the control group. The body surface temperature was increased for about 20 min after consumption of CH-19 Sweet intake, and the neck temperature was significantly higher (P<0.001) than when the subjects consumed California-Wandar. We also measured respiratory gas by indirect calorimetry while subjects wore a face mask. A significant difference was detected in oxygen consumption between the two groups, and the value was significantly higher in the CH-19 Sweet group (P<0.03). These results suggest that CH-19 Sweet increased thermogenesis and energy consumption.  相似文献

ABSTRACT About 1.5-million eared grebes (Podiceps nigricollis), representing half of the North American population, stage on Utah's Great Salt Lake, USA (GSL) during autumn migration to forage on brine shrimp (Artemia franciscana). Indirectly competing with birds for brine shrimp are commercial harvesters who annually collect >1 million kg (dry wt) of shrimp cysts (i.e., hardened eggs), an amount that during some years equals up to half of all brine shrimp cysts produced annually on the GSL. No information was available regarding what impact this commercial harvest was having on eared grebes. We determined daily energy requirements of eared grebes so that regulations governing brine shrimp cyst harvest would better reflect foraging needs of grebes. We measured basal metabolic rate (BMR) of eared grebes from June 2000 to October 2000. Mean BMR of 106 adult and subadult eared grebes was 0.023 kJ/g/hour (SD = 0.004), and mean BMR of 37 juveniles was 0.024 kJ/g/hour (SD = 0.003). Resting and preening metabolic rates were 1.2 times higher than BMR, whereas diving-bout metabolic rate was 1.7 times higher than BMR. Daily energy needs of an average-sized grebe (550 g) during November were 391 kJ. Meeting this energy need requires daily consumption of 24,400 adult brine shrimp. In addition, grebes must consume 2,100–5,200 adult shrimp daily to obtain enough energy reserves to continue their migration to California, USA, and Mexico. Hence, grebes need to consume 26,500–29,600 adult brine shrimp daily while staging on GSL. To achieve this high harvest rate, grebes need adult brine shrimp densities at >380 shrimp/m3during autumn. Commercial harvest of brine shrimp cysts from GSL should be curtailed when cyst densities fall below 20,000 cysts/m3to ensure enough adult brine shrimp for grebes during the subsequent year.  相似文献

Aims Global warming does not mean similar warmer temperatures between daytime and nighttime. Soybean (Glycine max) is a widely planted legume crop around the world and an important food crop in China. The aim of this study was to understand the responses of soybean growth and water utilization to future asymmetric warming, which would provide scientific reference for evaluating the adaptation of soybean to the future climate scenarios.Methods This experiment was carried out in artificial climate chambers, using the method of potted plants, under three temperature conditions; contrast (CON, 26 °C during the day and 16 °C during night), symmetric warming (ETs, elevated temperature of 3 °C both during the day and night), asymmetric warming (ETa, elevated temperature of 2 °C during the day and elevated temperature of 4 °C during night). We investigated the differential effects of diurnal asymmetric and symmetric warming on the yield and water consumption of soybean. Important findings The results revealed that, under the background of 26 °C during the day and 16 °C during night: 1) the effect of ETs on soybean yields showed no significant function that mainly benefit from the increase in the amount of biomass to ease negative influence of decrease in the harvest index. ETa reduced yields of soybean by 38.9% (p < 0.05) due to both significant decrease in harvest index and yield components (pod number per plant, grain number per pod and 100-grain weight). 2) ETs showed no obvious effect on the whole growing stage evapotranspiration (ET) of soybean, while ETa reduced the whole growing stage ET by 14.8% (p < 0.05). 3) The effect of the two warming pattern on water consumption of soybean were not significant. The difference in water consumption was mainly derived from the difference in transpiration (T). ETs and ETa reduced total transpiration by 10.7% (p < 0.05) and 26.1% (p < 0.05), respectively. In conclusion, our results suggest that ETs will underestimate the detrimental effects of real climate warming (ETa) on the growth and yield of soybean, and overestimate the effects on water consumption of soybean.  相似文献

1. Benthic microbial respiration was measured in 214 streams in the Appalachian Mountain, Piedmont, and Coastal Plains regions of the eastern United States in summer 1997 and 1998. 2. Respiration was measured as both O2 consumption in sealed microcosms and as dehydrogenase activity (DHA) of the sediments contained within the microcosms. 3. Benthic microbial respiration in streams of the eastern U.S., as O2 consumption, was 0.37 ± 0.03 mg O2 m–2 day–1. Respiration as DHA averaged 1.21 ± 0.08 mg O2 m–2 day–1 4. No significant differences in O2 consumption or DHA were found among geographical provinces or stream size classes, nor among catchment basins for O2 consumption, but DHA was significantly higher in the other Atlantic (non‐Chesapeake Bay) catchment basins. 5. Canonical correlation analyses generated two environmental axes. The stronger canonical axis (W1) represented a chemical disturbance gradient that was negatively correlated with signatures of anthropogenic impacts (ANC, Cl, pH, SO42), and positively correlated with riparian canopy cover and stream water dissolved organic carbon concentration (DOC). A weaker canonical axis (W2) was postively correlated with pH, riparian zone agriculture, and stream depth, and negatively correlated with DOC and elevation of the stream. Oxygen consumption was significantly correlated with W2 whereas DHA was significantly correlated with W1. 6. The strengths of the correlations of DHA with environmental variables, particularly those that are proven indicators of catchment disturbances and with the canonical axis, suggest that DHA is a more responsive measure of benthic microbial activity than is O2 consumption.  相似文献

This work explores the historical effectiveness of efficiency improvements in reducing humankind's consumption of energy resources. Ten activities are analyzed, including pig iron production, aluminum production, nitrogen fertilizer production, electricity generation from coal, electricity generation from oil, electricity generation from natural gas, freight rail travel, passenger air travel, motor vehicle travel, and residential refrigeration. The data and analyses presented here demonstrate the dynamic interplay between technological innovation, market forces, and government policy. They also show that, historically, over long time periods, incremental improvements in efficiency have not succeeded in outpacing increases in the quantity of goods and services provided. Thus, the end result over these time periods has been, not surprisingly, a sizeable increase in the consumption of energy resources across all ten activities. However, there do exist a few examples of shorter, decade‐long time periods in which improvements in efficiency were able to match or outpace increases in quantity. In these cases, efficiency mandates, price pressures, and industry upheaval led to periods of reduced resource consumption. These cases suggest that with appropriate incentives, including, for example, efficiency mandates and price mechanisms, future resource consumption, and its associated environmental impacts, could be stabilized and even reduced.  相似文献
