系统树是描述物种、人种甚至基因间亲缘关系和演化的重要工具,必须以进化距离或(相对)替代率作为重要的参数。但以哪一个参数构建的树更能反映真实的系统树呢?事实上迄今并无人对此作过认真的研究。本文以模拟数据并用方差分析法检验两个参数的异同并讨论其包含的生物学意义。研究结果表明,当氨基酸的替代率和核苷酸的替代率分别为0.18和0.13时,它们的进化距离分别为0.199和0.143。经方差分析证实,若检验的氨基酸和核苷酸最大数目均为75只时,不论以替代率或进化距离中那一个作为构树参数,拓扑树事实上几乎只有一个。这就是说,该时拓扑树可靠性很大,而且随着它们替代率的减少,则检验的氨基酸和核苷酸的数目会随之增加。但是一旦氨基酸的替代率和核苷酸的替代率超过上述数字,则两个参数构建的树在拓扑长度上是不等价的。经分析,若进化距离大致上与进化时间成线性关系的话,则应选用进化距离。用进化距离重建的系统树事实上支持中性学说;若进化距离与进化时间显著地不存在线性关系的话,则可选用替代率,该情况表明中性学说不适用,似更倾向于新达尔文主义。 相似文献

1-Phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone is a reagent, known as PMP, used to derivatize monosaccharides for the study of polysaccharides composition and structure, and for the dosage of carbohydrates in complex media. The same molecule is also known as edaravone, a drug approved for the treatment of stroke and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. It is also a reactive molecule susceptible to form stable adducts with aromatic aldehydes, such as formylpterin and vanillin. In addition, the molecule serves as a scaffold to design of edaravone analogs and drug conjugates, with various pharmacological properties (antioxidant, anticancer, antiviral). We have analyzed the multiple usages of PMP/edaravone to highlight the reactivity of the molecule and its wide range of applications. This phenyl-pyrazolone compound, considered by many as a biochemical reagent and by other as a clinically useful drug, has not yet revealed the full extent of its capacities and benefits. 相似文献

Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) is a major cereal grain and is known as a halophyte (a halophyte is a salt-tolerant plant that grows in soil or waters of high salinity). We therefore conducted a pot experiment to explore plant growth and biomass, photosynthetic pigments, gas exchange attributes, stomatal properties, oxidative stress and antioxidant response and their associated gene expression and absorption of ions in H. Vulgare. The soil used for this analysis was artificially spiked at different salinity concentrations (0, 50, 100 and 150 mM) and different levels of ascorbic acid (AsA) were supplied to plants (0, 30 and 60 mM) shortly after germination of the seed. The results of the present study showed that plant growth and biomass, photosynthetic pigments, gas exchange parameters, stomatal properties and ion uptake were significantly (p < 0.05) reduced by salinity stress, whereas oxidative stress was induced in plants by generating the concentration of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in plant cells/tissues compared to plants grown in the control treatment. Initially, the activity of antioxidant enzymes and relative gene expression increased to a saline level of 100 mM, and then decreased significantly (P < 0.05) by increasing the saline level (150 mM) in the soil compared to plants grown at 0 mM of salinity. We also elucidated that negative impact of salt stress in H. vulgare plants can overcome by the exogenous application of AsA, which not only increased morpho-physiological traits but decreased oxidative stress in the plants by increasing activities of enzymatic antioxidants. We have also explained the negative effect of salt stress on H. vulgare can decrease by exogenous application of AsA, which not only improved morpho-physiological characteristics, ions accumulation in the roots and shoots of the plants, but decreased oxidative stress in plants by increasing antioxidant compounds (enzymatic and non-enzymatic). Taken together, recognizing AsA's role in nutrient uptake introduces new possibilities for agricultural use of this compound and provides a valuable basis for improving plant tolerance and adaptability to potential salinity stress adjustment. 相似文献

Many planktivorous fishes forage in currents, where they actively maintain position and visually strike at current-entrained zooplankton. In general, the zooplankton are wafted by the foraging fish at a rate equivalent to the current velocity. From a fish's viewpoint the plankton approach either head-on or offset at varied distances from the fish's position. We present a model that describes the relative motion of particles as they approach and pass a foraging fish at different offset distances, and the rate of change in apparent size as they close on a fish. In addition, a series of experiments of fish feeding on plankton in a flume at increasing current velocities revealed that two basic tactics are utilized. At low current velocities (<10-14 cm s m 1), the fish swims toward the prey, whereas at higher current velocities the fish tends to fall back with the current to capture a prey item. The model and experimental results are discussed in terms of the visual problems associated with the detection and tracking of items in motion. 相似文献

Angiogenesis is one of the most important processes for cancer cell survival, tumor growth and metastasis. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its receptor, particularly VEGF receptor-2 (VEGFR-2, or kinase insert domain-containing receptor, KDR), play critical roles in tumor-associated angiogenesis. We developed TTAC-0001, a human monoclonal antibody against VEGFR-2/KDR from a fully human naïve single-chain variable fragment phage library. TTAC-0001 was selected as a lead candidate based on its affinity, ligand binding inhibition and inhibition of VEGFR-2 signal in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC). TTAC-0001 inhibited binding of VEGF-C and VEGF-D to VEGFR-2 in addition to VEGF-A. It binds on the N-terminal regions of domain 2 and domain 3 of VEGFR-2. It could inhibit the phosphorylation of VEGFR-2/KDR and ERK induced by VEGF in HUVEC. TTAC-0001 also inhibited VEGF-mediated endothelial cell proliferation, migration and tube formation in vitro, as well as ex vivo vessel sprouting from rat aortic rings and neovascularization in mouse matrigel model in vivo. Our data indicates that TTAC-0001 blocks the binding of VEGFs to VEGFR-2/KDR and inhibits VEGFR-induced signaling pathways and angiogenesis. The role of endogenous circadian rhythmicity in autonomic cardiac reactivity to different stressors was investigated. A constant routine protocol was used with repeated exposure to a dual task and a cold pressor test. The 29 subjects were randomly divided into two groups in order to manipulate prior wakefulness. Group 1 started at 09:00 h immediately after a monitored sleep period, whereas group 2 started 12 h later. Measures of interbeat intervals (IBI), respiratory sinus arrythmia (RSA, a measure of parasympathetic activity), pre-ejection period (PEP, a measure of sympathetic activity), as well as core body temperature (CBT) were recorded continuously. Multilevel regression analyses (across-subjects) revealed significant (mainly 24 h) sinusoidal circadian variation in the response to both stressors for IBI and RSA, but not for PEP. Individual 24 + 12 h cosine fits demonstrated a relatively large interindividual variation of the phases of the IBI and RSA rhythms, as compared to that of the CBT rhythm. Sinusoidal by group interactions were found for IBI and PEP, but not for RSA. These findings were interpreted as an indication for endogenous circadian and exogenous parasympathetic (vagal) modulation of cardiac reactivity, while sympathetic reactivity is relatively unaffected by the endogenous circadian drive and mainly influenced by exogenous factors. 相似文献

Probability is closely related to biological organization and adaptation to the environment. Living systems need to maintain their organizational order by producing specific internal events non-randomly, and must cope with the uncertain environments. These processes involve increases in the probability of favorable events for these systems by reducing the degree of uncertainty of events. Systems with this ability will survive and reproduce more than those that have less of this ability. Probabilistic phenomena have been deeply explored using the mathematical theory of probability since Kolmogorov's axiomatization provided mathematical consistency for the theory. However, the interpretation of the concept of probability remains both unresolved and controversial, which creates problems when the mathematical theory is applied to problems in real systems. In this article, recent advances in the study of the foundations of probability from a biological viewpoint are reviewed, and a new perspective is discussed toward a comprehensive theory of probability for understanding the organization and adaptation of living systems. 相似文献

A species of rice bran lipase (lipase II) was purified by ammonium sulfate precipitation, followed by successive chromatographies on DEAE-cellulose, Sephadex G–75 and CH-Sephadex C–50. Both polyacrylamide disc electrophoresis and ultracentrifugation demonstrated that the enzyme protein is homogeneous. The isoelectric point of the enzyme was 9.10 by ampholine electrophoresis. The sedimentation coefficient of the enzyme was evaluated to be 2.60 S, and the molecular weight to be 33,300 according to Archbald’s method. The enzyme showed the optimum pH between 7.5 and 8.0, and the optimum temperature at about 27°C. It was stable over the pH range from 5 to 9.5 and below 30°C. In substrate specificity, the enzyme exhibited a high specificity toward triglycerides having short-carbon chain fatty acids, although it was capable of hydrolyzing the ester bonds in the rice and olive oil. 相似文献
