A variety of microorganisms were used to hydrolyze racemic methyl jasmonate [I] with varying degrees of enantioselectivity. The fungi tested included species from the genera Aspergillus, Penicillium, and Talaromyces. All fungi tested showed a preference for the [1S,2S(Z)]-(+)-isomer. The yeasts Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Candida albicans showed no activity. A number of bacterial genera were also tested. No activity could be shown for members of the genera Bacillus, Pseudomonas, Escherichia, Nocardia, and Thermoactinomyces. Hydrolytic activity was found in the genera Streptomyces and Mycobacterium. S. henetus showed the same enantioselectivity as the fungi, while M. phlei hydrolyzed the [1R,2R(Z)]-(−)-isomer preferentially. A number of isolated enzymes were also screened for activity. A study was conducted to determine the efficacy of β-mannanase supplementation to a diet based on corn and soya bean meal (SBM) on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), faecal coliforms and lactic acid bacteria, and noxious gas emission in growing pigs. A total of 140 pigs [(Landrace × Yorkshire) × Duroc; average body weight 25 ± 3 kg] were randomly allotted to a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement with dietary treatments consisting of hulled or dehulled SBM without or with supplementation of 400 U β-mannanase/kg. During the 6 weeks of experimental feeding, β-mannanase supplementation had no effect on body weight gain, feed intake and gain:feed (G:F) ratio. Compared with dehulled SBM, feeding hulled SBM caused an increased feed intake of pigs in the entire trial (p = 0.05). The G:F ratio was improved in pigs receiving dehulled SBM (p < 0.05). Dietary treatments did not influence the total tract digestibility of dry matter, nitrogen and gross energy. Enzyme supplementation reduced (p < 0.05) the population of faecal coliforms and tended to reduce the NH3 concentration after 24 h of fermentation in a closed box containing faecal slurry. Feeding hulled SBM tended to reduce NH3 emission on days 3 and 5 of fermentation. In conclusion, mannanase supplementation had no influence on growth performance and nutrient digestibility but showed a positive effect on reducing coliform population and tended to reduce NH3 emission. This study aimed at investigating the extent of accumulation of selenium in the hepatopancreas of the crayfish Procambarus clarkii and its effects on the enzymatic activities of catalase, glutathione peroxidase, and glutathione reductase. Crayfish were fed for 15 days either a diet enriched in Se, ED (1.21 mg kg-1) or a standard diet, SD (0.30 mg kg-1). Results showed that Se accumulation is higher in the sample subject to ED rather than to SD. A sexual difference was found for the response of the analyzed enzymes in the ED sample only. Catalase activity and glutathione peroxidase activity decreased in females and males, respectively, whereas glutathione reductase activity showed significant reductions in both sexes. These preliminary data might provide information about prooxidant effects of Se on P. clarkii when fed a Se enriched diet. 相似文献

For 22 days after monocrotaline injection two groups of rats received either of the monocarbonyl curcumin analogs (2E,6E)‐2,6‐bis(2‐bromobenzylidene)cycloxehanone (B2BrBC) and (2E,6E)‐2,6‐bis([2‐tri?uoromethyl]benzylidene)cyclohexanone (C66), and their right ventricle parameters were compared to those from the control and the monocrotaline injected animals. B2BrBC and C66 treatments did not prevent the monocrotaline‐induced right ventricular hypertrophy but attenuated the changes in antioxidant enzyme activities and reduced inflammation. The level of thiol‐based nonenzymatic antioxidants did not change in the function of monocrotaline or curcumin analogs treatment. However, due to its stronger antioxidant properties, only B2BrBC treatment was effective in the reduction of monocrotaline‐associated lipid peroxidation. The obtained results suggest that increasing the levels of antioxidant enzymes may not be sufficient to reduce oxidative stress and chronic inflammation optimally and our current study supports the potential of compounds with more than one beneficial biological activity as a promising treatment against the progression of cardiac hypertrophy. 相似文献

对于田地区3种不同生境(沼泽、盐化沙丘过渡带和沙丘顶)芦苇的生长环境特征、光合特性、渗透调节及抗氧化系统的特征进行研究。结果表明:芦苇叶片的Pn日变化在沼泽生境呈单峰曲线,在盐化沙丘过渡带和沙丘顶部均为双峰曲线,光合"午休"现象明显,气孔导度降低是其主要原因。脯氨酸和可溶性糖含量随根区土壤水分减少和盐分加剧增加显著,其中可溶性糖含量变化剧烈,对抵御干旱和盐渍化危害的贡献较大。芦苇叶片超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)和过氧化氢酶(CAT)活性随干旱及盐分加剧增加显著,两者对水分亏缺的响应较盐分敏感,且可有效缓解沙丘生境由于缺水所造成的氧化损伤,使丙二醛(MDA)含量维持在相对较低水平。过氧化物酶(POD)活性在沙丘和盐渍化生境内都比较高,对抵抗盐渍化和干旱起着同样重要的作用。 相似文献

以大五星枇杷幼果为试验试材,在自然低温胁迫下,研究不同浓度的聚天冬氨酸锰(MSOD)喷施枇杷幼果后的抗氧化酶活性、细胞膜透性及丙二醛含量.结果表明:不同浓度 MSOD(5.0、12.5、20.0 mg/L)均能提高幼果抗氧化酶系统中的超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)、过氧化氢酶(CAT)、抗坏血酸过氧化物酶(APX)和过氧化物酶(POD)的活性、减少细胞膜透性和丙二醛(MDA)含量.而在试验浓度范围内,12.5 mg/L 的MS O D处理为最佳喷施浓度. 相似文献

The plant cell wall is a dynamic structure whose constant modification is necessary for plant cells to grow and divide. In the cell walls of chickpea (Cicer arietinum) there are at least four β‐galactosidases, whose presence and location in embryonic axes during the first 48 h of seed imbibition are discussed in this paper. We examined their roles as cell wall‐modifying enzymes in germinative and/or post‐germinative events. At the start of germination, only βV‐Gal, and to a lesser extent βIV‐Gal, appear in the axes before rupture of the testa, suggesting they are related to germination sensu stricto. Once the testa has broken, the four β‐galactosidases are involved in growth and differentiation of the axes. Immunolocation of the different proteins in axes, which in part confirms previous results in seedlings and plants, allows assignment of post‐germinative roles to βI‐Gal and βIII‐Gal as cell wall modifiers in vascular tissue elements. βIV‐Gal and βV‐Gal participate in the initial events of germination in which cell walls are involved: βV‐Gal in cell proliferation, detachment of root cap cells and initial vascular tissue differentiation; both of them in xylem maturation; and βIV‐Gal in thickening of the primary cell wall. Together with other cell wall‐modifying enzymes, such as expansins and XTH, chickpea galactosidases might function in a sequential order in turnover of the primary cell wall, allowing the elongation of embryonic axes during seed germination. 相似文献

Thimerosal is ethyl mercury based compound which is being used as a preservative in vaccines since decades. Pharmaceutical products and vaccines that contain thimerosal are among the potential source of mercury exposure. Current research was intended to ascertain the reprotoxic effects of thimerosal on rat testes. Twenty-four adult male albino rats were sorted into four groups (n = 6). The first group was a control group. Rats of experimental Group 2, 3 and 4 were treated with various dosages of thimerosal (0.5, 10, 50 mg/kg) respectively. Rats were decapitated after thirty days of trial and different parameters were analyzed. Thimerosal exposure resulted in a significant decrease in antioxidant enzyme activities including catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione reductase (GSR) and increased levels of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS). Different doses of thimerosal significantly decreased (p < 0.05) the concentration of plasma testosterone, luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). Additionally, Daily sperm production (DSP) and efficiency of daily sperm production were significantly reduced followed by thimerosal exposure. Moreover, thimerosal significantly (p < 0.05) decreased the primary spermatocytes, secondary spermatocytes, number of spermatogonia along with spermatids. Thimerosal induced adverse histopathological and morphological changes in testicular tissues such as decreased Leydig cells, diameter of seminiferous tubules, tunica albuginea height and epithelial height. On the other hand, the increase in tubular lumen and interstitial spaces was observed due to thimerosal. These outcomes indicated that thimerosal has potential reprotoxic effects in male albino rats. 相似文献
