Nitrate and nitrite was reduced by Escherichia coli E4 in a l-lactate (5 mM) limited culture in a chemostat operated at dissolved oxygen concentrations corresponding to 90–100% air saturation. Nitrate reductase and nitrite reductase activity was regulated by the growth rate, and oxygen and nitrate concentrations. At a low growth rate (0.11 h–1) nitrate and nitrite reductase activities of 200 nmol · mg–1 protein · min–1 and 250 nmol · mg–1 protein · min–1 were measured, respectively. At a high growth rate (0.55 h–1) both enzyme activities were considerably lower (25 and 12 nmol mg–1 · protein · min–1). The steady state nitrite concentration in the chemostat was controlled by the combined action of the nitrate and nitrite reductase. Both nitrate and nitrite reductase activity were inversely proportional to the growth rate. The nitrite reductase activity decreased faster with growth rate than the nitrate reductase. The chemostat biomass concentration of E. coli E4, with ammonium either solely or combined with nitrate as a source of nitrogen, remained constant throughout all growth rates and was not affected by nitrite concentrations. Contrary to batch, E. coli E4 was able to grow in continuous cultures on nitrate as the sole source of nitrogen. When cultivated with nitrate as the sole source of nitrogen the chemostat biomass concentration is related to the activity of nitrate and nitrite reductase and hence, inversely proportional to growth rate.  相似文献

An S I R S epidemiological model with vital dynamics in a population of varying size is discussed. A complete global analysis is given which uses a new result to establish the nonexistence of periodic solutions. Results are discussed in terms of three explicit threshold parameters which respectively govern the increase of the total population, the existence and stability of an endemic proportion equilibrium and the growth of the infective population. These lead to two distinct concepts of disease eradication which involve the total number of infectives and their proportion in the population.Partially supported by NSF Grant No. DMS-8703631. 本实验观察了视前区(POA)内微量注入阿片样物质对丘脑束旁核(Pf)痛反应神经元电活动影响。结果如下:(1)POA 内微量注射高浓度吗啡(10μg/μl)能显著抑制 Pf 内大部分(20/26)痛兴奋神经元(PEN)的痛诱发放电,其中3个神经元注药后对伤害性刺激转变成抑制反应;POA 内微量注射低浓度吗啡(1μg/μl)也显著抑制 Pf 内大部分(19/23)PEN 的痛诱发放电。(2) POA 内微量注射两种浓度的吗啡,均使大多数痛抑制神经元(PIN,共27/33)的完全抑制时程缩短。上述结果提示,POA 内阿片样物质对 Pf 内痛反应神经元的电活动可能具有抑制作用。  相似文献

本文应用受体阻断、高效液相,6-OHDA 化学损毁神经末梢和放射自显影等多学科技术方法,探讨脊髓苯环立啶受体的心血管效应与去甲肾上腺素能神经系统的关系。结果表明,哌唑嗪、育亨宾均可对抗 ith PCP 的降压和减慢心率作用,ith PCP 产生降压和减慢心率作用时,脊髓脑脊液内 MHPG 的含量升高;用6-OHDA 损毁脊髓 NA 能神经末梢后,ith PCP的降压和减慢心率作用大为减弱,脊髓 PCP 受体密度亦同时大为降低。可以认为,脊髓内有 PCP 受体分布于 NA 能神经末梢上,促进 NA 释放或抑制 NA 重摄取,可能是脊髓 PCP 受体产生心血管抑制效应的重要机理。  相似文献

Abstract The diversity of bacterial communities isolated from Antarctic lake sediment in chemostats under constant low temperature (8°C) or diurnally fluctuating temperature (1°C to 16°C) was examined. The median optimum temperature for growth of the freshwater bacteria isolated from the fluctuation chemostat was significantly lower ( P < 1%) than that for those from the constant temperature chemostat. The diversity of the enriched bacterial community isolated in the chemostat culture subjected to short-term temperature fluctuations was greater than that enriched under constant temperature. At least 4 different groups of bacteria, that occupied separate 'temperature niches', were isolated from the fluctuating chemostat compared to only one group isolated from the stable chemostat. Furthermore, a pseudomonad from the fluctuating chemostat was shown to out-compete another pseudomonad from the stable chemostat when both were subjected to the fluctuating temperature regime. However, the pseudomonad of constant (8°C) temperature origin out-competed that isolated under fluctuating conditions when subjected to a stable temperature regime.  相似文献

Two enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli strains of serotype 0.25.H42 that produced coli surface associated antigens CS4 and CS6 hybridized with a probe containing the cfaD sequence that regulates expression of colonization factor antigen CFA/I. Transformation of a cloned cfaD gene into some derivatives of the strains that were negative for CS4 and CS6 resulted in expression of CS4 but not CS6. By hybridization the sequence that regulated CS4 production in the wild type 025 strains was located on a plasmid that also encoded the CS6 antigen. The structural genes for the CS4 antigen were on a separate plasmid. The 025 strains carried a third plasmid encoding enterotoxin production which was therefore unlinked to regulation sequences or genes encoding CS antigens.  相似文献

从腹侧面暴露家兔延髓,脑内微量注射1%普鲁卡因阻滞面神经后核内侧区(mNRF),全部动物(n=20)一次注射(0.3—1.0μl)后即能可逆地消除呼吸节律。区域对照显示此区非常局限,范围约1.0×1.0×1.0mm。组织学检查表明为面神经后核内侧区。本文分析了 mNRF的呼吸相关神经元(RRNs)的放电形式。在 mNRF 有较多的呼气(E)神经元和呼气-吸气跨时相(E-IPS)神经元。在阻滞 mNRF 引起呼吸停止期间,观察到低位延髓背侧呼吸群(DRG)和腹侧呼吸群(VRG)尾端区 RRNs 放电的节律性消失,表现连续放电或停止放电。电刺激DRG,VRG 尾端区,只能诱发短串的膈神经放电,而不能产生节律性发放。说明这些区域的RRNs 无自动节律性活动的能力。结果表明,面神经后核内侧区与呼吸节律发生有关,它可能是呼吸节律发生器的一个重要的所在部位。  相似文献

Plant species that secrete oil as their primary floral reward are rare and sporadically found in the angiosperms. We report here thatMonttea, a genus previously unsuspected of being an oil-plant, produces lipids from trichome elaiophores on the inside of the lower (anterior) lip. The discovery of the production of oils by species of this S. American genus explains the occurrence of unusual dual-function collecting structures in ArgentineCentris (Hymenoptera: Anthophoridae) and explains the presence of oil-collecting bees in regions where oil-secreting flowers were previously thought to be absent. The behavior of these centridine pollinators onMonttea flowers parallels that of oil-collecting bees onDiascia (Scrophulariaceae) in S. Africa.  相似文献

本文涉及淡色库蚊(Culex pipiens pallens)抗马拉硫磷纯合子(RR)、杂合子(RS)和敏感纯合子(SS)的自然内禀增长率及其对马拉硫磷抗性演化的影响。RR、RS和SS的内禀增长率分别为0.1118、0.1171和0.1339。RR和RS基因型在无杀虫剂时呈现出繁殖不利性,RR和RS的相对适合度分别是SS的0.65和0.68。 影响淡色库蚊对马拉硫磷进化的某些因子在计算机上进行了模拟。模拟的因子包括R等位基因的起始频率(P_o)、所用马拉硫磷的剂量和迁入率(m)。模拟结果表明(I)不用药时R等位基因衰减是由于RR和RS基因型的繁殖不利性;(2)在起始种群N_o=200,P_o=0.1,使用杀死全部SS和RS的剂量(8ppm)处理,使R等位基因为有效隐性,并且m≥0.15时可阻止马拉硫磷抗性的发生。  相似文献
