Exclusion has been applied as a main measure for re-vegetation all over the world.This paper,by comparing the results of year-round exclusion,seasonal exclusion,and non-exclusion,quantified the vegetation variations under three different exclusion measures and their correlation to soil factors.The analysis results for community species component and plant diversity using multi-response permutation procedures (MRPPs)showed that exclusion did change the species component and increase plant diversity remarkably,while the period of exclusion had no significant influence on these two community features.The indicator species analysis and calculation of similarity indices indicated that community for year-round exclusion were becoming xerophytization and unpalatability,and showed highly spatial heterogeneity of plant species distribution,whereas community for seasonal exclusion was under stable non-equilibrium condition.Detrended correspondence analysis (DCA)and detrend canonical correspondence analysis (DCCA)results of relationship between plant species and soil variables demonstrated that soil moisture was a controlling factor for plant species component,microbiotic soil crust cover,soil organic matter,and soil bulk density had significant effects on soil moisture,among which microbiotic soil crust was a leading factor owing to its limitation to rainfall infiltration on the one hand,and its constraints to entrance of herbaceous seeds into soil or to germination of soil seeds on the other hand.As a result of long-term removal of animal grazing,crust kept intact in year-round exclusion community,which was a main reason of community xerophytization.It was also obvious from ordination results that some important environmental factors,such as tempo-spatial change of rainfall and corresponding tempo-spatial change of soil moisture,were neglected during direct gradient analysis.In addition,biodiversity was close related to soil nutrients as well as to soil moisture condition (soil water content and crust cover),and it had positive relation to available N,and negative relation to available P.Higher soil N had advantage to non-leguminous plants growth on nutrition-poor sand land definitely.The impact of P to community component was unclear and should be studied from plant physiology.Further researches on nonequilibrium theory in semi-arid rangeland will provide a scientific and flexible animal development paradigm for being implementing livestock fen-raising and grazing-forbidden policies in China. 相似文献

Introgressive hybridization of Senecio hercynicus and S. ovatus (Compositae, Senecioneae) was studied in a hybrid zone on the southern slopes of Mt Brocken (Harz Mountains, Germany). A total of 415 plants representing 10 stands along an altitudinal gradient were investigated using multivariate statistical analyses of morphological characters and molecular markers (random amplified polymorphic DNA[RAPD]). Both types of traits detected pure S. hercynicus stands on the summit plateau, pure S. ovatus stands at the lowest elevations, and hybrid swarms at intermediate elevations. While morphological and molecular patterns coincided, some individuals in hybrid stands combined morphological patterns typical of S. ovatus with RAPD patterns typical of S. hercynicus, and vice versa. In general, introgression was symmetrical within stands, though one stand combined S. ovatus characters with the glandular hair typical for S. hercynicus, and two stands combined a S. hercynicus typical RAPD genotype with morphological characters shifted towards S. ovatus. Because pure stands of S. hercynicus occurred only on the summit plateau of Mt Brocken, and markers typical for S. ovatus were detectable in stands up to 1040 m a.s.l., future fusion or assimilation of the rare form, S. hercynicus, by the more widespread S. ovatus appears possible at Mt Brocken. 相似文献

Polyamines are small cationic molecules necessary for growth and differentiation in all cells. Although mammalian cells have been studied extensively, particularly as targets of polyamine antagonists, i.e. antitumor agents, polyamine metabolism has also been studied as a potential drug target in microorganisms. Since little is known concerning polyamine metabolism in the microsporidia, we investigated it in Encephalitozoon cuniculi, a microspordian associated with disseminated infections in humans. Organisms were grown in RK-13 cells and harvested using Percoll gradients. Electron microscopy indicated that the fractions banding at 1.051-1.059/g/ml in a microgradient procedure, and 1.102-1.119/g/ml in a scaled-up procedure were nearly homogenous, consisting of pre-emergent (immature) spores which showed large arrays of ribosomes near polar filament coils. Intact purified pre-emergent spores incubated with [1H] ornithine and methionine synthesized putrescine, spermidine, and spermine, while [14C]spermine was converted to spermidine and putrescine. Polyamine production from ornithine was inhibitable by DL-alpha-difluoromethylornithine (DFMO) but not by DL-alpha-difluoromethylarginine (DFMA). Cell-free extracts from mature spores released into the growth media had ornithine decarboxylase (ODC), S-adenosylmethionine decarboxylase (AdoMetdc), and spermidine/spermine N1-acetyltransferase (SSAT) activities. ODC activity was inhibited by DFMO, but not by DFMA. AdoMetdc was putrescine-stimulated and inhibited by methylglyoxal-bis(guanylhydrazone); arginine decarboxylase activity could not be detected. It is apparent from these studies that Encephalitozoon cuniculi pre-emergent spores have a eukaryotic-type polyamine biosynthetic pathway and can interconvert exogenous polyamines. Pre-emergent spores were metabolically active with respect to polyamine synthesis and interconversion, while intact mature spores harvested from culture supernatants had little metabolic activity. 相似文献

Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) are the predominant luminal anion in the mammalian colon. Although they are rapidly absorbed
in vivo, little is known about the mechanisms of transepithelial transport in vitro. Previous studies have suggested that
SCFA transport may be linked to Na absorption or an anion exchange mechanism. We compared the transport of propionate under
short-circuit conditions in rabbit proximal and distal colon to determine whether there were segmental differences, how SCFAs
may be linked to either Na absorption or anion transport, and whether SCFAs, as weak electrolytes, may be affected by transepithelial
pH gradients. In distal colon, propionate transport was not significantly altered by stimulation of electrogenic Na absorption,
epinephrine or Cl removal. However, a modest transepithelial pH gradient (luminal 6.8/serosal 7.4) stimulated propionate absorption.
In proximal colon, propionate transport was significantly altered by manuevers that either stimulated (lowered [Na] in the
bathing media) or inhibited (theophylline) apical Na−H exchange. Neither Cl removal, nor the anion exchange inhibitor DIDS,
nor a transepithelial bicarbonate gradient, altered propionate transport. A transepithelial pH gradient inhibited propionate
secretion, but not in a manner entirely consistent with the effect of pH on the distribution of a weak electrolyte. These
results suggest that there is significant segmental heterogeneity in colonic SCFA transport; that transepithelial propionate
fluxes are altered by changes in pH or electroneutral Na absorption (Na−H exchange), but not by chloride removal, bicarbonate
gradients or electrogenic Na absorption. Regulation of SCFA transport may be an important factor in the physiology of colonic

以滇池流域六甲乡金家村为研究对象,该区为城郊典型的居民-农田混合区,总面积14万m2,其中居民区面积为7.7万m2,常驻人口780口,区内有一家约120头的养猪场,一个具有9家洗涤企业的金家村工业园区,居民区和养殖、工业废水直接排向就近的90%种植韭菜的农田区。针对该区村庄-小企业-农田-养殖业呈复区分布,污染源复杂,雨污混流污染严重,污水管网建设滞后,化肥施用过量,沟渠湿地系统破碎等现状,研发出兼顾水质净化和农田排灌的居民-农田混合区面源污染控制集成技术,包括改良化粪池与组合基质床,生态支沟,生态干渠,A/O生物处理系统,复合人工湿地等污水处理技术,以及农田内部的节氮控磷技术,如精确施肥,施用硝化抑制剂抑制氮向水体迁移,垄沟内浮萍的氮磷滞留与养分循环利用。通过12个月的连续监测表明:在非降雨日负荷为500m3/d的工况下,改良化粪池与组合基质床对COD,TP,TN的去除率分别为61.3%,50.50%,44.4%;A/O生物处理系统对COD,TP,TN的去除率分别为65.8%,55.2%,55.2%;生态支沟由于进水量小浓度高,水力停留时间长,其对COD,TP,TN的去除率均比生态干渠的高,分别高29.0%,17.5%,28.4%;系统末端复合人工湿地对污染物质的去除效果分别为COD 50.6%,TP44.9%,TN36.4%。一年内依托集成技术建设的生态工程去除污染物的总量为COD 143.71t,TP2.43t和TN16.99t,对氮磷的去除量相当于一座负荷为350~620m3/d 的市政污水处理厂去除的量。经济效益分析得出,整个系统日耗电量18度,由一名工人即可管护。传统施肥减量20%+叶面肥,每年每公顷可减少氮肥投入约2400元,增加叶面肥投入约500元,减少收入约1300元,合计增收3200元。浮萍滞留与养分循环利用,每年每公顷韭菜地相当于少施用151kg尿素和93kg过磷酸钙的氮磷含量。施用DCD和元素硫,淋溶水中硝态氮的浓度降低了59.2%,测渗水中则降低了62.2%。可见,居民-农田混合区面源污染控制集成技术不但可以有效去除污染物,而且在保证产量的情况下,增加农民收益。技术适用于城市郊区、城乡结合部及广大农村等城市污水管网未覆盖地区推广使用,具有巨大的推广潜力。 相似文献

The pgr5 mutant of Arabidopsis thaliana has been described as being deficient in cyclic electron flow around photosystem I, however, the precise role of the PGR5 protein remains unknown. To address this issue, photosynthetic electron transport was examined in intact leaves of pgr5 and wild type A. thaliana. Based on measurements of the kinetics of P700 oxidation in far red light and re-reduction following oxidation in the presence of DCMU, we conclude that this mutant is able to perform cyclic electron flow at a rate similar to the wild type. The PGR5 protein is therefore not essential for cyclic flow. However, cyclic flow is affected by the pgr5 mutation under conditions where this process is normally enhanced in wild type leaves, i.e. high light or low CO2 concentrations resulted in enhancement of cyclic electron flow. This suggests a different capacity to regulate cyclic flow in response to environmental stimuli in the mutant. We also show that the pgr5 mutant is affected in the redox poising of the chloroplast, with the electron transport chain being substantially reduced under most conditions. This may result in defective feedback regulation of photosynthetic electron transport under some conditions, thus providing a rationale for the reduced efficiency of cyclic electron flow. 相似文献

- Understanding the drivers of trait selection is critical for resolving community assembly processes. Here, we test the importance of environmental filtering and trait covariance for structuring the functional traits of understory herbaceous communities distributed along a natural environmental resource gradient that varied in soil moisture, temperature, and nitrogen availability, produced by different topographic positions in the southern Appalachian Mountains.
- To uncover potential differences in community‐level trait responses to the resource gradient, we quantified the averages and variances of both abundance‐weighted and unweighted values for six functional traits (vegetative height, leaf area, specific leaf area, leaf dry matter content, leaf nitrogen, and leaf δ13C) using 15 individuals of each of the 108 species of understory herbs found at two sites in the southern Appalachians of western North Carolina, USA.
- Environmental variables were better predictors of weighted than unweighted community‐level average trait values for all but height and leaf N, indicating strong environmental filtering of plant abundance. Community‐level variance patterns also showed increased convergence of abundance‐weighted traits as resource limitation became more severe.
- Functional trait covariance patterns based on weighted averages were uniform across the gradient, whereas coordination based on unweighted averages was inconsistent and varied with environmental context. In line with these results, structural equation modeling revealed that unweighted community‐average traits responded directly to local environmental variation, whereas weighted community‐average traits responded indirectly to local environmental variation through trait coordination.
- Our finding that trait coordination is more important for explaining the distribution of weighted than unweighted average trait values along the gradient indicates that environmental filtering acts on multiple traits simultaneously, with abundant species possessing more favorable combinations of traits for maximizing fitness in a given environment.

St Lucia Lake on the north coast of Natal, South Africa, has an area of 325 km2 and is the largest estuarine complex in Africa. It consists of a 20 km tidal channel, averagingca. 400 m in width, linking the sea with the non-tidal lake which is H-shaped with a maximum length ofca. 40 km and width ofca. 20 km. Except during flood periods the depth of the lake does not exceed 2 m. The salinity gradient depends on evaporation,
the configuration of the mouth and on the input of fresh water from four rivers which discharge into the northern and western
areas of the lake. If fresh water input is high, the lake and much of the channel may be fresh. An intermediate stage features
a normal salinity gradient while a third stage shows a reversed salinity gradient with salinities in excess of 100‰ in the
upper reaches of the system. Changing salinities have marked effects on the biota. Aquatic macrophytes show cycles of appearance
and disappearance depending on salinity tolerance and the presence of dormant stages. The resident benthic faunal species
go through cycles of range expansion and contraction depending on prevailing salinities and recolonisation by dispersal phases.
To date salinities in the southern part of the lake have approached, but not exceeded, lethal levels and this has therefore
acted as a reservoir area. Catchment degradation and water abstraction are anticipated to exacerbate future salinity extremes.
This has resulted in concern for the long term viability of this Ramsar site which has major southern African populations
of hippopotamus and crocodile, provides breeding sites for South African Red Data water bird species and plays an important
nursery role for marine fish and penaeid prawns. 相似文献
