A mating disruption approach using high densities of pheromone dispensers, has recently been proposed for controlling codling moth, Cydia pomonella (L.) (Lep., Tortricidae). Ecodian® CP dispensers, made of low‐cost biodegradable material and easy to apply, were formulated with 10 mg of codlemone and placed at a rate of 1400–2000 dispensers/ha. Seasonal dispenser performance was evaluated using different methods. The release rate of new Ecodian dispensers, measured directly by solid‐phase micro‐extraction (SPME), was significantly higher than that of the standard monitoring lure. The release rate of field‐aged dispensers decreased over time; it was comparable with that of the standard monitoring lure after 55–90 days of field exposure and significantly lower beyond. Electroantennographic (EAG) recordings showed that field‐aged dispensers strongly stimulated virgin male moths’ antennae. Dispensers elicited close‐range approaches in wind tunnel irrespective of their age. Traps baited with aged Ecodian CP dispensers captured males throughout the season. Our results demonstrate that Ecodian dispensers achieved a good level of activity and longevity over the season. Field trials carried out from 2002 to 2004 confirmed the efficacy of Ecodian CP dispensers for codling moth control, regardless of the size of the treated area. The potential of this strategy for the control of C. pomonella is discussed. 相似文献

Introduction
The purpose of this study was to determine whether sensorimotor abnormalities are detectable in asymptomatic individuals deemed at risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS)Methods
Seventeen individuals deemed at risk of developing CTS and 16 asymptomatic individuals deemed to be at minimal risk of developing CTS participated. Nerve conduction velocity, two-point discrimination ability, pressure acuity, Purdue Pegboard Test performance and tracking error and tracking variance on a manual tracking task performed at two different speeds were measured in all participants and compared between the groups.Results
None of the measures of nerve conduction, sensory perception, or Purdue Pegboard task performance were different between the groups. The error in the manual tracking tasks was significantly different between the groups, where the at-risk group demonstrated more error than the control group.Conclusion
These results suggest that manual tracking tasks may be useful in the identification of those individuals at risk of developing CTS before they develop any measurable sensorimotor impairment. 相似文献163.

Ribosome biogenesis is a complex multistep process that involves alternating steps of folding and processing of pre-rRNAs in concert with assembly of ribosomal proteins. Recently, there has been increased interest in the roles of ribosomal proteins in eukaryotic ribosome biogenesis in vivo, focusing primarily on their function in pre-rRNA processing. However, much less is known about participation of ribosomal proteins in the formation and rearrangement of preribosomal particles as they mature to functional subunits. We have studied ribosomal proteins L7 and L8, which are required for the same early steps in pre-rRNA processing during assembly of 60S subunits but are located in different domains within ribosomes. Depletion of either leads to defects in processing of 27SA(3) to 27SB pre-rRNA and turnover of pre-rRNAs destined for large ribosomal subunits. A specific subset of proteins is diminished from these residual assembly intermediates: six assembly factors required for processing of 27SA(3) pre-rRNA and four ribosomal proteins bound to domain I of 25S and 5.8S rRNAs surrounding the polypeptide exit tunnel. In addition, specific sets of ribosomal proteins are affected in each mutant: In the absence of L7, proteins bound to domain II, L6, L14, L20, and L33 are greatly diminished, while proteins L13, L15, and L36 that bind to domain I are affected in the absence of L8. Thus, L7 and L8 might establish RNP structures within assembling ribosomes necessary for the stable association and function of the A(3) assembly factors and for proper assembly of the neighborhoods containing domains I and II. 相似文献

PurposeIn modern radiation therapy accurate small fields dosimetry is a challenge and its standardization is fundamental to harmonize delivered dose in different institutions. This study presents a multicenter characterization of MLC-defined small field for Elekta and Varian linear accelerators. Measurements were performed using the Exradin W1 plastic scintillator detector.Materials and methodsThe project enrolled 24 Italian centers. Each center performed Tissue Phantom Ratio (TPR), in-plane and cross-plane dose profiles of 0.8 × 0.8 cm2 field, and Output Factor (OF) measurements for square field sizes ranging from 0.8 to 10 cm. Set-up conditions were 10 cm depth in water phantom at SSD 90 cm. Measurements were performed using two twin Exradin W1 plastic scintillator detectors (PSD) correcting for the Cerenkov effect as proposed by the manufacturer.ResultsData analysis from 12 Varian and 12 Elekta centers was performed. Measurements of 7 centers were not included due to cable problems. TPR measurements showed standard deviations (SD) < 1%; SD < 0.4 mm for the profile penumbra was obtained, while FWHM measurements showed SD < 0.5 mm. OF measurements showed SD < 1.5% for field size greater than 2 × 2 cm2. Median OFs values were in agreement with the recent bibliography.ConclusionsHigh degree of consistency was registered for all the considered parameters. This work confirmed the importance of multicenter dosimetric intercomparison. W1 PSD could be considered as a good candidate for small field measurements. 相似文献

The peptidyl transferase center (PTC), present in the domain V of 23S rRNA of bacteria can act as a general protein folding modulator. Any general function of a nucleic acid polymer (DNA or RNA) is always related to specific sequence/sequences. The ribosome mediated protein folding also involves a specific interaction between the nucleotides of peptidyl transferase center and the amino acids of an unfolded protein. Flying male spruce budworm ( Choristoneura fumiferana [Clem.]) moths responding to virgin females and to synthetic pheromone in a wind tunnel maintained a constant rate of upwind progress when held by moving optomotor cues at a constant distance from the pheromone source. When allowed to progress upwind to the source, however, they slowed their upwind speed progressively as they approached it.
