根据水文与地貌特征将河南省分为山区和平原区,选取富水程度、降水入渗、单位面积施肥量、蔬菜种植面积比例和土壤质地作为共性指标,坡度和地下水埋深作为个性指标,利用主成分回归分析确定指标权重,在ArcGIS 9.2的支持下对河南省地下水硝酸盐脆弱性进行评价. 结果表明,河南省地下水硝酸盐脆弱性程度以中低水平为主,中等脆弱性以下地区占总面积的68.4%,高脆弱性地区占19.8%,极高脆弱性地区占11.8%.影响河南省平原地区地下水脆弱性的主要因素依次为土壤质地、施肥水平和降水入渗,而影响山区地下水脆弱性的主要因素依次为施肥水平、土壤质地和坡度.研究结果为合理施肥和农业环境管理提供了理论依据.  相似文献

Human‐induced climate change and ocean acidification (CC‐OA) is changing the physical and biological processes occurring within the marine environment, with poorly understood implications for marine life. Within the aquaculture sector, molluskan culture is a relatively benign method of producing a high‐quality, healthy, and sustainable protein source for the expanding human population. We modeled the vulnerability of global bivalve mariculture to impacts of CC‐OA over the period 2020–2100, under RCP8.5. Vulnerability, assessed at the national level, was dependent on CC‐OA‐related exposure, taxon‐specific sensitivity and adaptive capacity in the sector. Exposure risk increased over time from 2020 to 2100, with ten nations predicted to experience very high exposure to CC‐OA in at least one decade during the period 2020–2100. Predicted high sensitivity in developing countries resulted, primarily, from the cultivation of species that have a narrow habitat tolerance, while in some European nations (France, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, and Spain) high sensitivity was attributable to the relatively high economic value of the shellfish production sector. Predicted adaptive capacity was low in developing countries primarily due to governance issues, while in some developed countries (Denmark, Germany, Iceland, Netherlands, Sweden, and the United Kingdom) it was linked to limited species diversity in the sector. Developing and least developed nations (n = 15) were predicted to have the highest overall vulnerability. Across all nations, 2060 was identified as a tipping point where predicted CC‐OA will be associated with the greatest challenge to shellfish production. However, rapid declines in mollusk production are predicted to occur in the next decade for some nations, notably North Korea. Shellfish culture offers human society a low‐impact source of sustainable protein. This research highlights, on a global scale, the likely extent and nature of the CC‐OA‐related threat to shellfish culture and this sector enabling early‐stage adaption and mitigation.  相似文献

In the Pacific north‐west, the Cascade Mountain Range blocks much of the precipitation and maritime influence of the Pacific Ocean, resulting in distinct climates east and west of the mountains. The current study aimed to investigate relationships between water storage and transport properties in populations of Douglas‐fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) and ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa) adapted to both climates. Sapwood thickness, capacitance, vulnerability to embolism, and axial and radial conductivity were measured on samples collected from trunks of mature trees. The sapwood of ponderosa pine was three to four times thicker than Douglas‐fir. Radial conductivity was higher in west‐side populations of both species, but axial conductivity was higher in the east‐side populations and in Douglas‐fir. Eastern populations of both species had sapwood that was more vulnerable to embolism than west‐side populations. Sapwood capacitance was similar between species, but was about twice as great in east‐side populations (580 kg m?3 MPa?1) as in west‐side populations (274 kg m?3 MPa?1). Capacitance was positively correlated with both mean embolism pressure and axial conductivity across species and populations, suggesting that coordinated adjustments in xylem efficiency, safety and water storage capacity may serve to avoid embolism along a gradient of increasing aridity.  相似文献

Despite rather broad definitions, global analysis showed that seamount fishes, particularly seamount‐aggregating fishes, had higher intrinsic vulnerability than other groups of fishes. The pattern was similar when considering only commercially exploited species. Biological characteristics leading to greater vulnerability included a longer life span, later sexual maturation, slower growth and lower natural mortality. The results supported the contention that seamount fishes, especially those that aggregate on seamounts, are highly vulnerable to exploitation and that fishing on seamounts may not be sustainable at current levels and with current methods. A number of seamount populations have already been depleted; more depletion, extirpations, and even species extinctions may follow if fishing on seamounts is not reduced.  相似文献

Spatial structure can impede mixing, diffusion, and motility. In microbiology laboratories, spatial structure is commonly achieved via formation of agar gels, within which bacteriophage (phage) replication results in localized clearings called plaques. Developing a better understanding of phage plaque formation is relevant because of the ubiquity of phage plaquing in the laboratory; because plaque size has been employed as a measure of phage fitness; because many bacteria exist within environments that display significant spatial structure (e.g., biofilms, soils, sediments, and in or on plant or animal tissues); and because spatial structure could impede phage exploitation of bacterial communities. There is, however, a relative dearth of experimentation and analysis considering phage plaque formation from the perspective of selection acting on individual phage growth parameters-latent period, burst size, and adsorption rate. Here we consider the impact of these parameters on rates of plaque wavefront velocity (rates of radial plaque enlargement), especially as functions of existing phage and environmental properties. We do so based on analyses of published equations which predict plaque enlargement rates. These indicate that greater wavefront velocities should be associated with (i) latent period reductions, (ii) larger burst sizes, or (iii) faster virion binding to bacteria. We suggest, however, that deviations could occur, respectively, (i) if virion adsorption is "slow" or if burst sizes are large, (ii) if burst sizes are already large, or (iii) if virion binding rates are already fast, bacterial densities are especially high, or burst sizes are large. Higher initial lawn bacterial densities could also contribute to faster plaque expansion, but only if adsorption is otherwise slow or burst sizes are large. By contrast, faster virion diffusion is always expected to result in greater plaque wavefront velocities. Overall, we provide a snapshot of how phage populations may respond evolutionarily to selection for more-rapid propagation during spatially constrained growth.  相似文献

Emerging evidence now indicates that the 5-lipoxygenase (5-LO) pathway play a role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and restenosis. The expression of 5-LO by activated macrophages in symptomatic plaques leads to leukotriene B(4) (LTB(4)) accumulation and enhanced synthesis and release of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) that can promote plaque rupture. However, the role of 5-LO pathway in diabetic vascular disease has not been previously reported. Thus, the present study was designed to analyze the expression of 5-LO in carotid plaques of diabetic patients and to investigate the possible role of 5-LO pathway in the pathogenesis and progression of diabetic atherosclerosis. Atherosclerotic plaques from 60 patients undergoing carotid endarterectomy were divided into non-diabetic and diabetic group. Plaques were analyzed for 5-LO, MMP-2 and MMP-9 by immunohistochemical, Western blot, and densitometric analyses, whereas zymography was used to detect MMP activity. Immunocytochemistry was also used to identify CD68+macrophages, CD3+T-lymphocytes, and HLA-DR+inflammatory cells. LTB(4) were quantified by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. 5-LO showed abundant immunoreactivity in human atherosclerotic carotid lesions, and was colocalized with macrophage infiltrates in atherosclerotic intima. 5-LO expression was higher in diabetic compared with non-diabetic plaques and was associated with increased MMP-2 and MMP-9 expression. Follow-up analyze with zymography assay revealed MMP activity was elevated in diabetic compared with non-diabetic plaques. Notably, in contrast to non-diabetic plaques, LTB(4) levels were significantly increased in diabetic plaques by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. These results suggest that overexpression of 5-LO and LTB(4) in atherosclerotic plaques possibly promote MMP-induced plaque rupture in diabetes. Hence, anti-LTs may be useful, not only in reducing atherogenesis, but also in the prevention and treatment of acute atherothrombotic events in diabetic patients.  相似文献

The detrimental impacts of invasive alien species (IAS) on ecosystem goods and services and local and regional economies are well documented. However, the use of IAS by rural communities is little understood, and rarely factored into IAS control programmes. Understanding the use of IAS by rural communities and factoring these into cost-benefit models is complex, depending upon a range of local-level attributes such as the time since invasion, abundance, and local-level costs and benefits. This paper reports on two case studies examining the role of IAS in rural livelihoods in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. In both cases, rural communities made widespread consumptive use of the IAS and generally would prefer higher densities, except in certain key localities. Several households traded in IAS products to generate supplementary income. We present a conceptual framework to guide interpretation of these and future case studies, considering attributes such as time since invasion, the competitiveness of the species, and the relative costs and benefits.  相似文献

The ecological vulnerability of the western Hainan Island of China was assessed using a combined approach of landscape pattern and ecosystem sensitivity. Models were developed using the following five factors: reciprocal of fractal dimension (FD), isolation (FI), fragmentation (FN), sensitivity of land desertification (SD), and sensitivity of soil erosion (SW). The major findings include: (1) the vulnerability of various landscape types was in the following decreasing order: farmland > forestland > water area. This suggests that the ecosystems of farmland and forestland are unstable and sensitive to external disturbances; (2) significantly positive relationships were found between the vulnerability of landscape types (VI) and SD, VI and FN, FN and SD, and FN and EVI (regional eco-environment vulnerability). This suggests that FN and SD have considerable effects on VI and EVI in this case; (3) there is a good agreement between the predicted and the actual distribution of the EVI zones. EVI value tends to decrease with increasing distance from the coastline and increase with increasing altitude; (4) the landscape pattern and the regional ecological vulnerability in this study is predominantly controlled by human activities, although physical factors such as topography and oceanic influences also play roles in the process; and (5) the establishment of relationships between data with respect to landscape and the regional ecological responses could be beneficial in guiding the ecological construction of this region.  相似文献

The extensive local and regional market for traditional, handcrafted twig and grass brooms in the Bushbuckridge municipality, South Africa, provides an important means of livelihood security for several hundred poor households in the face of increasing economic hardship. Participants in this trade were a vulnerable group of middle-aged to elderly women with poor levels of education and few assets. Over half headed their own house-holds, and several came from households affected by AIDS. Entry into the broom trade was mainly a coping strategy in response to crisis, becoming long-term in the absence of alternatives. Average net annual incomes for producers and traders were modest at ZAR 2,000 and ZAR 1,000 respectively (ZAR=South African Rand), although some were earning considerably more. While unlikely to provide a way out of poverty, the trade was critical in allowing diversification and in providing a safety net, assisting poor households to overcome adversity, meet several basic needs, and educate their children.  相似文献
