This study was conducted to establish the contribution of genetic host factors in the susceptibility to community acquired pneumonia (CAP) in the Russian population. Patients with CAP (n = 334), volunteers without a previous history of CAP, constantly exposed to infectious agents, control A group (n = 141) and a second control group B consisted of healthy persons (n = 314) were included in the study. All subjects were genotyped for 13 polymorphic variants in the genes of xenobiotics detoxification CYP1A1 (rs2606345, rs4646903, and rs1048943), GSTM1 (Ins/del), GSTT1 (Ins/del), ABCB1 rs1045642); immune and inflammation response IL-6 (rs1800795), TNF-a (rs1800629), MBL2 (rs7096206), CCR5 (rs333), NOS3 (rs1799983), angiotensin-converting enzyme ACE (rs4340), and occlusive vascular disease/hyperhomocysteinemia MTHFR (rs1801133). Seven polymorphic variants in genes CYP1A1, GSTM1, ABCB1, NOS3, IL6, CCR5 and ACE were associated with CAP. For two genes CYP1A1 and GSTM1 associations remained significant after correction for multiple comparisons. Multiple analysis by the number of all risk genotypes showed a highly significant association with CAP (P = 2.4 × 10− 7, OR = 3.03, 95% CI 1.98–4.64) with the threshold for three risk genotypes. Using the ROC-analysis, the AUC value for multi-locus model was estimated as 68.38.  相似文献

研究了交变应力对烟草愈伤组织细胞的影响, 采用本实验室研制的强声波发生装置来产生交变应力场, 并利用差式扫描量热仪(DSC) 研究了不同强度和频率的交变应力作用后烟草细胞热力学相行为的变化。研究结果表明:交变应力的影响与应力的频率和强度密切相关,一定频率和强度范围内的交变应力能使得植物细胞的相变温度有明显的降低, 而过高频率的应力刺激则会使细胞相变温度升高。细胞热力学相变反映了细胞壁膜的流动性,相变温度变低表明细胞壁膜的流动性增强, 这必然为细胞的生长和分裂提供了便利的条件。 因此, 对于从细胞和分子水平研究交变应力对植物生长、发育的影响及其作用机理是一个很有意义的尝试  相似文献

The phase behaviour of cuticular waxes from leaves of Hedera helix L. and Juglans regia L. was studied by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. For this purpose reconstituted waxes, isolated cuticular membranes, dewaxed polymer matrix membranes and whole leaves were studied in the horizontal attenuated total reflection and transmission modes. Melting curves of cuticular waxes were derived from temperature-dependent changes in the absorption maximum of the symmetric stretching mode of CH2 groups (νs, at approx. 2856–2848 cm−1). With increasing temperature absorption band doublets due to CH2 scissoring (δsciss) and rocking (δrock) movements (at approx. 1473–1471 and 730–720 cm−1, respectively) indicative of an orthorhombic arrangement of alkyl chains merged into a single peak. The area ratio of the peaks at approx. 720 and 730 cm−1 was used as a measure for aliphatic crystallinity of plant cuticular waxes at a given temperature. The investigations of reconstituted cuticular waxes and those still embedded in isolated cuticles or in situ on the leaf produced comparable results. Abstract

Actually, in modern process simulators, more than 75% of the code implemented is dedicated to physical properties estimation, calculation and predictions. Data banks storing pure component parameters and binary interaction parameters for phase equilibrium calculations are extensively used and continuously implemented in actual process simulators. This gives an idea of the important role physical properties availability plays in process simulation.

In this paper we propose a new way for coupling molecular and process simulation. The basic machinery is to resort to molecular/quantum mechanics and molecular dynamics simulation techniques for generating the parameters of some equations of state that will subsequently be used for the prediction of phase equilibria and PVT behavior of small and polymeric molecules as well. This information, in turn, will be used as input in the process simulator, thus creating a final and well-defined bridge between molecular and process simulations in chemical engineering.  相似文献

The gel-to-fluid first-order melting transition of lipid bilayers is simulated by the use of a microscopic interaction model which includes a variable number of lipid-chain conformational states. The results suggest that the experimental observation of ‘continuous melting’ in pure wet lipid bilayers, rather than being ascribed to the presence of impurities, may be explained as a result of kinetically caused metastability of intermediate lipid-chain conformations.  相似文献

Mammalian endogenous circadian rhythms are entrained to the environmental day-night cycle by light exposure. Melatonin is involved in this entrainment by signaling the day-night information to the endogenous circadian pacemaker. Furthermore, melatonin is known to affect the circadian rhythm of body temperature directly. A striking property of the endogenous melatonin signal is its synthesis pattern, characterized by long-term elevated melatonin levels throughout the night. In the present study, the influence of prolonged treatment with the melatonin agonist S20098 during the activity phase of free-running rats was examined. This was achieved by giving S20098 in the food. The free-running body temperature and activity rhythms were studied. The present study shows that enhancement of the melatonin signal, using S20098, affected the free-running rhythm by gradual phase advances of the start of the activity phase, consequently causing an increase in length of the activity phase. A well-known feature of circadian rhythms is its time-dependent sensitivity for light. Light pulse exposure of an animal housed under continuous dark conditions can cause a phase shift of the circadian pacemaker. Therefore, in a second experiment, the influence of melatonin receptor stimulation on the sensitivity of the pacemaker to light was examined by giving the melatonin agonist S20098 in the food during 1 day prior to exposure to a 60-min light pulse of 0, 1.5, 15, or 150 lux given at circadian time (CT) 14. S20098 pretreatment caused a diminished lightpulse- induced phase shift when a light pulse of low light intensity (1.5 lux) was given. S20098 treatment via the food was sufficient to exert chronobiotic activity, and S20098 treatment resulting in prolonged overstimulation of melatonin receptors is able to attenuate the effect of light on the circadian timing system. Different wavelengths of light were compared for melatonin suppression and phase shifting of the salivary melatonin rhythm. The wavelengths compared were 660 nm (red), 595 nm (amber), 525 nm (green), 497 nm (blue/green), and 470 nm (blue). They were administered with light-emitting diodes equated for irradiance of 130 μW/cm2. Fifteen volunteers participated in all five wavelength conditions and a no light control condition, with each condition conducted over two consecutive evenings. Half-hourly saliva samples were collected from 19:00 to 02:00 on night 1 and until 01:00 on night 2. Light was administered for the experimental conditions on the first night only from midnight to 02:00. Percentage melatonin suppression on night 1 and dim light melatonin onset (DLMO) for each night were calculated. The shorter wavelengths of 470, 497, and 525 nm showed the greatest melatonin suppression, 65% to 81%. The shorter wavelengths also showed the greatest DLMO delay on night 2, ranging from 27 to 36 min. This work summarizes results obtained on membranes composed of the ternary mixture dioleoylphosphatidylglycerol (DOPG), egg sphingomyelin (eSM) and cholesterol (Chol). The membrane phase state as a function of composition is characterized from data collected with fluorescence microscopy on giant unilamellar vesicles. The results suggest that the presence of the charged DOPG significantly decreases the composition region of coexistence of liquid ordered and liquid disordered phases as compared to that in the ternary mixture of dioleoylphosphatidycholine, sphingomyelin and cholesterol. The addition of calcium chloride to DOPG:eSM:Chol vesicles, and to a lesser extent the addition of sodium chloride, leads to the stabilization of the two-phase coexistence region, which is expressed in an increase in the miscibility temperature. On the other hand, addition of the chelating agent EDTA has the opposite effect, suggesting that impurities of divalent cations in preparations of giant vesicles contribute to the stabilization of charged domains. We also explore the behavior of these membranes in the presence of extruded unilamellar vesicles made of the positively charged lipid dioleoyltrimethylammoniumpropane (DOTAP). The latter can induce domain formation in DOPG:eSM:Chol vesicles with initial composition in the one-phase region.  相似文献

This study investigated the biosorption of Congo Red (CR) from aqueous solution by Date stones (DS) of Phoenix dactylifera and jujube shells (JS) of Ziziphus lotus. Batch operations were carried out in the liquid phase to observe the effect of various experimental parameters such as contact time, pH, temperature, and initial dye concentration on removal of CR. The characteristics of the DS and JS were also examined by Fourier transform infrared analysis. The biosorption data of CR on DS and JS samples were well fitted with the Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second kinetics model with a maximum biosorption amount of 45.08 mg g?1 for DS and 59.55 mg g?1 for JS at pH = 4, temperature of 50°C, and an initial concentration of 100–800 mg L?1 after 90 minutes of contact time. The outcomes indicated that DS and JS can be used as a good low-cost alternative for the treatment of effluents containing CR in water.  相似文献
