抑卵激素是调控家蝇Musca dorncstica vicina卵巢周期性发育的关键因子之一。在家蝇中,当第一个周期的卵母细胞处于卵黄发生期或卵黄发生后期时,其第二个周期的卵母细胞的发育不进入卵黄发生期。本文建立了家蝇抑卵激素的生物测定方法,即用一对卵巢提取物注射1头羽化后12h家蝇,并在羽化后60h观察卵母细胞的发育及卵黄蛋白的沉积情况。抑卵激素的作用首先是延缓了卵母细胞在卵黄发生前期的发育;其次,抑卵激素抑制脂肪体中卵黄蛋白的合成,导致血淋巴中卵黄蛋白含量的下降,从而抑制了卵母细胞的发育。抑卵激素并不抑制卵母细胞对卵黄原蛋白的摄取。卵发育神经激素可以颉抗抑卵激素的抑制作用。抑卵激素无种属特异性。  相似文献

We studied reproductive performance of free-living alpine marmots (Marmotamarmota) for 14 years in the National Park of Berchtesgaden, Germany.Female reproduction was influenced by body condition and social factors.Reproduction depleted fat reserves, and only females emergingfrom hibernation with sufficient body mass were able to reproducesuccessfully. Marmots lived in social groups in territoriesdefended by a dominant male and female. Subordinate femalesnever reproduced, regardless of body mass. Territory takeoversby males impaired reproduction of dominant females, but onlyif the takeover occurred after the mating period. Reproductivefailures occurred despite clear signs of pregnancy such enlargednipples or late molt. Decreasing progesterone levels after themating period and the lack of evidence for direct infanticideby new territorial males suggest a block of pregnancy as a likelyexplanation for reproductive failures in groups with male takeoversduring gestation. Rendering female reproduction impossible increasedfuture reproductive success of new territory owners. Nonparous femalessaved the energetic cost of maternal investment and thus emergedwith higher body mass in the following spring. In line withthis, females failing to wean young had higher reproductivesuccess in the subsequent year.  相似文献

Though salmonid fishes are a well-studied group, phylogenetic questions remain, especially with respect to genus-level relationships. These questions were addressed with duplicate growth hormone (GH) introns. Intron sequences from each duplicate gene yielded phylogenetic trees that were not significantly different from each other in topology. Statistical tests supported validity of the controversial monotypic genusParahucho,monophyly ofOncorhynchus,and inclusion ofAcantholingua ohridanawithinSalmo.Suprisingly, GH1 intron C (GH1C) did not support the widely accepted hypothesis thatOncorhynchus(Pacific salmon and trout) andSalmo(Atlantic salmon and trout) are sibling genera; GH2C was ambiguous at this node. Previously published data were also examined for support ofSalmoandOncorhynchusas sister taxa and only morphology showed significant support. If not sister taxa, the independent evolution of anadromy—the migration to sea and return to freshwater for spawning—is most parsimonious. While there was incongruence with and among published data sets, the GH1C intron phylogeny was the best hypothesis, based on currently available molecular data.  相似文献

 Juvenile hormones (JHs) are sesquiterpenoids that regulate metamorphosis and reproduction in most insect species. There has been one report of an insect JH in plants: JH III, methyl-10R,11-epoxy-3,7,11-trimethyl 2E, 6E-dodecadienoate, has been identified in two sedge species, Cyperus iria L. and C. aromaticus (Ridley) Mattf and Kük. This is the first report of callus and cell suspension cultures derived from C. iria. Farnesol and methyl farnesoate, two biosynthetic intermediates of JH III in insects, as well as JH III have been identified in suspension culture cell extracts by gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy. These cultures thus provide a useful in vitro model to investigate the biosynthesis of JH III in the sedge, C. iria. Application of a modified ePHOGSY and other novel NMR experiments to an H2O-DMSO solution of the protein FKBP12 identified the presence of one molecule of DMSO bound in the substrate binding site. It occupies the same spatial region occupied by the pipecolidine moiety of the immunosuppressive drugs FK506 and Rapamycin complexed to the protein. The binding constant KD for this DMSO molecule was only 275 mM. A substructure search of small molecules similar to DMSO resulted in the identification of molecules with improved binding affinity. This work represents a clear example of the powerful interplay of molecular modelling and NMR.  相似文献

采用饲养试验方法,研究了平均体质量为(7.16±0.07)g的大菱鲆(Scophthalmus maximus)幼鱼分别在盐度12、18、24、30和36下饲养60 d后,其鳃Na+-K+-ATPase活力、血清离子浓度、生长激素(GH)、皮质醇激素(COR)、特定生长率(SGR)和饲料效率(FCE)的变化。结果表明:幼鱼鳃Na+-K+-ATPase活力、血清Na+浓度均随盐度的升高而上升,分别在3.48~8.30 U/mg和169.99~180.00 mmol/L之间,其中12盐度组最低,36盐度组最高。幼鱼血清中K+和Cl-浓度分别在2.20~3.47 mmol/L和136.67~142.00 mmol/L之间,各盐度组之间差异不显著。幼鱼血清中GH和COR浓度分别在0.41~1.66 ng/ml和35.33~76.41 ng/ml之间;其中GH在36盐度组最高,12盐度组最低,而COR在12盐度组最高,36盐度组最低。幼鱼SGR和FCE分别在(1.45~2.00)%/d和1.12%~1.38%之间,与盐度的相关性不显著,两者均为12盐度组最低。由此可见,盐度变化显著影响大菱鲆幼鱼鳃Na+-K+-ATPase活力、血清Na+浓度和激素含量。本研究对大菱鲆养殖生理生态条件分析具有重要参考意义,研究结果可为大菱鲆养殖的盐度选择提供理论依据。  相似文献

Oligodendrocyte maturation is regulated by multiple secreted factors present in the brain during critical stages of development. Whereas most of these factors promote oligodendrocyte proliferation and survival, members of the bone morphogenetic protein family (BMPs) recently have been shown to inhibit oligodendrocyte differentiation in vitro. Oligodendrocyte precursors treated with BMPs differentiate to the astrocyte lineage. Given that cells at various stages of the oligodendrocyte lineage have distinct responses to growth factors, we hypothesized that the response to BMP would be stage‐specific. Using highly purified, stage‐specific cultures, we found that BMP has distinct effects on cultured oligodendrocyte preprogenitors, precursors, and mature oligodendrocytes. Oligodendrocyte preprogenitors (PSA‐NCAM+, A2B5−) treated with BMP2 or BMP4 developed a novel astrocyte phenotype characterized by a morphological change and expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) but little glutamine synthetase expression and no labeling with A2B5 antibody. In contrast, treating oligodendrocyte precursors with BMPs resulted in the accumulation of cells with the traditional type 2 astrocyte phenotype (GFAP+, A2B5+). However, many of the cells with an astrocytic morphology did not express GFAP or glutamine synthetase unless thyroid hormone was present in the medium. The addition of fibroblast growth factor along with BMP to either oligodendrocyte preprogenitor or the oligodendrocyte precursor cells inhibited the switch to the astrocyte lineage, whereas platelet‐derived growth factor addition had no effect. Treatment of mature oligodendrocytes with BMP elicited no change in morphology or expression of GFAP. These data suggest that as cells progress through the oligodendrocyte lineage, they show developmentally restricted responses to the BMPs. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Floral plantings are often used in agriculture to attract pollinator communities, but they also play an important role in recruiting and establishing natural communities for natural pest control. Inconsistent effects of floral plantings for pest control may be a result of an absence of mechanistic insights and a reliance on the idea that simply increasing flower diversity will benefit these services. A more tailored set of flower species may be needed to benefit the natural enemies through provision of nectar and alternative prey. We used an outside pot experiment to investigate the effect of three flower plants (Fagopyrum esculentum, Vicia faba, and Trifolium pratense) on reducing aphid pests on four different plant cultivars of barley (Hordeum vulgare), over two years. We grew the four cultivars of barley alone, next to a single flower or next to a mixture of flowers, and observed aphid and natural enemy colonization across the growing season. Aphid population sizes were reduced on all barley cultivars grown next to a flower with stronger pest suppression when all flowers were present. Each flower species recruited a different community of non‐barley aphids that, in turn, varied in their ability to establish the natural enemy populations and subsequently the ability to reduce barley aphid populations. Overall, increased pest suppression in the mixed treatments was a result of numerous weaker interactions between different flower, aphid, and natural enemy species, rather than a few dominant interactions. Natural enemy communities could be enhanced by incorporating flower species that vary in their ability to attract and host alternative prey (i.e., non‐pest aphids) as well as suitable nectar provisioning. We can use our knowledge of ecological interactions to tailor floral plantings to increase the effectiveness of pest control services.  相似文献
