A new method of computing the wear factor for total hip prostheses is presented. In the conventional method, only the resultant contact force and the track drawn by the point of its application are considered so that the product of the instantaneous force and sliding increment is integrated over one motion cycle. In the present, improved, method the contact pressure distribution is discretized by a large number of smaller normal forces, and the contribution of each is summed. This is important because the relative motion and contact pressure vary strongly with location, and because the transverse pressure component is substantial. Hence, the present surface integral represents the large contact surface better than the conventional line integral. A prerequisite for the surface integral was the method of computing the relative motion correctly anywhere on the contact surface, developed and published earlier by the present authors. For the pressure discretization, the contact surface was divided into nearly equal-sized surface elements. The contact pressure was modelled with ellipsoidal, paraboloidal and sinusoidal distributions. Two load cases were studied, double-peak and static. When an ellipsoidal contact pressure distribution extending over a hemisphere was discretized by 1000 element forces, the computed wear factor for double-peak load in a biaxial hip wear simulator was 30% lower than in the conventional resultant force case. The present method can be later developed further to involve the temporal variation of size and location of the contact surface.  相似文献

根据内蒙古自治区正镶白旗乌宁巴图苏木1981~1993年达乌尔黄鼠Citellus dauriCUS密度和洞干蚤指数监测资料进行分析,得到如下结果。共检洞干蚤9种,其中方形黄鼠蚤蒙古亚种Citellophilus tesquorum mongolicus (66.0%)为优势蚤种,光亮额蚤Frontopsylla lu-culenta(23.6%)为次优势蚤种,阿巴盖新蚤Neopsylla abagaitui和二齿新蚤N。Bidentatifor-mis为常见种,余为少见种。鼠密度与洞干蚤指数关系显著(PPP<0.05),关系为洞干蚤指数=0.2709+0.0504体蚤指数。洞干蚤和巢蚤指数的关系是显著的(P<0.07),关系为洞干蚤指数=0.27652+0.00348巢蚤指数。三种蚤指数之间有如下近似 关系:巢蚤指数:体蚤指数:洞干蚤指数:100:10:1。  相似文献

Uranium distributions and contents inMysidacea species were investigated in order to be subsequently correlated with some specific properties of these crustacea. The fission track micromapping technique was used in uranium distribution and content measurements. The investigated biological samples were: (1)Javanisomysis gutzui Bacescu, 1992 and (2)Mesopodopsis slabberi Van Beneden, 1861. Summary Artesian groundwaters of high radionuclide concentration are ubiquitous and may have provided the large, sustained energy sources that were required to drive the multistage process of DNA and primordial cell evolution. The rapid, early development of the genetic code as well as its degeneracy can be attributed to exceptionally high radiation-induced mutation rates in this unique environment. The ability of double-strand DNA to direct enzymatic repair of radiation damage to single strands contributed importantly to its selective evolution. It is postulated that the polymerization of nucleotides took place at elevated temperatures within -particle tracks of high ion and free-radical density, followed by rapid quenching to ambient conditions. It also is evident that radiation resistance and ploidy were important selection factors in cellular evolution.  相似文献

In this study, I collected tracks and trackways from nine species of extant lizards representing all five major lizard clades. Previously, tracks from species of only two of these clades were described. Lizard tracks conventionally are regarded as having curved digit imprints that progressively increase in length from digit I to IV, with a smaller digit V directing antero-laterally. However, the zygodactylous feet of chameleons (Calumma parsonii and Furcifer pardalis), the posteriorly directed digit V in the pes of ground-dwelling geckos (Eublepharis macularius) and the rounded feet of blue-tongued skinks (Tiliqua scincoides) did not make “typical” lizard tracks, and demonstrate that even within a limited taxonomic sample there can be considerable variation in the morphologies of lizard tracks. Among the lizards examined, mode of locomotion and how the feet function have more influence on the morphology of tracks than does the phylogenetic affinities of the trackmaker. This preliminary neoichnological study increases the known variation in lizard tracks and aids in interpreting the fossil trackway record by providing comparative information that can be used to identify fossil tracks made by lizards.  相似文献

In 2002 a new dinosaur tracksite was discovered in calcareous laminites of early Late Kimmeridgian age along the future course of the “Transjurane” highway in Courtedoux, Canton Jura, Northern Switzerland. The site has an extraordinary scientific potential, as the laminites, which have been deposited in an intertidal to supratidal environment, contain at least 6 track-bearing levels in a total thickness of about 1 m. The laminites are being systematically excavated by the “Section de paleontologie” over an area of approximately 1500 m2. So far the main track level has been uncovered over an area of about 650 m2, which reveals 2 trackways of theropods and 17 trackways of sauropods. The sauropod tracks are the smallest known in the Kimmeridgian so far, and the trackways belong to the ichnogenus Parabrontopodus, which has been revealed for the first time in Switzerland. The tracksite belongs to the “Middle Kimmeridgian megatracksite” sensu Meyer (2000), and represents the most important dinosaur tracksite in Switzerland, perhaps with the potential for development into one of the world's largest sauropod tracksites. It will be protected in situ underneath an especially constructed highway-bridge, thus offering opportunities for future research and the development of an interpretative center for education and tourism.  相似文献

Aim The study aimed to establish areas of endemism and distribution patterns for Neotropical species of the genus Piper in the Neotropical and Andean regions by means of parsimony analysis of endemicity (PAE) and track‐compatibility analysis. Location The study area includes the Neotropical region and the Northern Andean region (Páramo‐Punan subregion). Methods We used distribution information from herbarium specimens and recent monographic revisions for 1152 species of Piper from the Neotropics. First, a PAE was attempted in order to delimit the areas of endemism. Second, we performed a track‐compatibility analysis to establish distribution patterns for Neotropical species of Piper. Terminology for grouping Piper is based on recent phylogenetic analyses. Results The PAE yielded 104 small endemic areas for the genus Piper, 80 of which are in the Caribbean, Amazonian and Paranensis subregions of the Neotropical region, and 24 in the Páramo‐Punan subregion of the Andean region. Track‐compatibility analysis revealed 26 generalized tracks, one in the Páramo‐Punan subregion (Andean region), 19 in the Neotropical region, and six connecting the Andean and Neotropical regions. Both the generalized tracks and endemic areas indicate that distribution of Piper species is restricted to forest areas in the Andes, Amazonia, Chocó, Central America, the Guayana Shield and the Brazilian Atlantic coast. Main conclusions Piper should not be considered an Andean‐centred group as it represents two large species components with distributions centred in the Amazonian and Andean regions. Furthermore, areas of greater species richness and/or endemism are restricted to lowland habitats belonging to the Neotropical region. The distribution patterns of Neotropical species of Piper could be explained by recent events in the Neotropical region, as is the case for the track connecting Chocó and Central America, where most of the species rich groups of the genus are found. Two kinds of event could explain the biogeography of a large part of the Piper taxa with Andean–Amazonian distribution: pre‐Andean and post‐Andean events.  相似文献

Abstract: If individuals can be identified from patterns in their footprints, noninvasive survey methods can be used to estimate abundance. Track plates capture fine detail in the footprints of fishers (Martes pennanti), recording rows of dots corresponding to tiny papillae on the animal's metacarpal pad. We show that the pattern of these dots can be used to identify individual fishers, similar to human fingerprints. A probabilistic model of uniqueness based on variation in spacing between 1,400 pairs of dots that we measured in prints of 14 different fisher feet suggests the probability of encountering a similar pattern in the print of a different foot by chance alone is ≤ 0.35n, where n = the number of dot pairs examined. This predicts a 0.00003 probability that a match made using 10 pairs of dots is false. Dot spacing from footprints made by the same foot was remarkably consistent (sN = 0.02 mm, n = 24 dot pairs). Combined, these results suggest dot patterns in fisher footprints were unique to individuals and were consistently reproduced on track plates. Empirical tests of matching accuracy were best with good-quality prints, highlighting the need for experience judging when prints are usable. We applied print matching to fisher detections collected on track plates deployed at 500-m intervals along 10 3.5-km transects in the Adirondack region of New York, USA. Of 62 fisher detections, 85% had ≥ 1 footprint of suitable quality to compare with other high-quality prints. We found that most detections from a transect were from the same individual fisher suggesting nonindependence of detections. Thus, data from traditional track-plate deployments over small time periods cannot be used as a measure of abundance, but new study designs using print matching could obtain robust noninvasive, mark—recapture density estimates.  相似文献
