Liposome-mediated labeling of adrenocorticotropin fragments parallels their biological activity

To test our hypothesis that specific interactions of ACTH peptides with model lipid membranes reflect the biological importance of similar interactions on target cells, we investigated the liposome-mediated labeling of ACTH fragments with the extremely hydrophobic photolabel, 3-trifluoromethyl-3-(m-[125I]iodophenyl)diazirine. Correlations were found between the labeling rates and the agonistic and antagonistic potencies of the peptides for in vitro steroidogenesis and inhibition of a synaptosomal protein kinase. A model for the cross-reactivity between ACTH and opioid peptides is discussed.     

Lymphokines in sensitized rats. III. Influence of prednisolone treatment of lymph node and spleen architecture in sensitized rats and upon MIF release in vitro.

The influence of prednisolone (corticosteroid, C.S.) treatment upon established cell-mediated immunity (CMI) induced by complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA) has been studied in rats by using in vitro migration inhibitory factor (MIF) assays, type IV skin reactions, and regional lymph node and spleen histology. Additionally, changes in the mononuclear-polymorphonuclear ratio of peripheral blood and T-cell accumulation in bone marrow in response to C.S. treatment have been determined. These results have been evaluated by comparison with equivalent experiments upon animals treated with anti-rat lymphocyte serum (ALS), oxisuran, or 2-[(methylsulfinyl)-acetyl]pyridine, which selectively suppresses CMI. The results suggest the existence of a population of “educated” T-cells in the thymic cortex of sensitized rats, and they suggest that prolonged C.S. administration does not suppress T-effector cells involved in established CMI but, rather, affects lymphocyte and monocyte migration patterns, including the migration of educated T-cells from the thymic cortex into other tissue compartments.     

澳门青洲山翻白叶树群落特征及物种多样性研究

根据样方调查结果,对澳门青洲山翻白叶树(Pterospermum heterophyllum)群落的种类组成、外貌、结构特征与动态及物种多样性进行分析.结果表明:(1)在1 600 m2样地中,有维管束植物47种,隶属于29科44属;对乔木层和灌木层主要物种的重要值以及频度分析结果显示,该群落是以翻白叶树为主的单优种群落,群落种类组成多样性和水平分布不均匀,其外貌终年常绿;对优势种种群的年龄结构分析显示,该种群处于增长状态;(2)整个群落的物种丰富度Margalef指数为13.72,Shannon-Wiener指数为1.15,Simpson指数为0.875,均匀度指数为0.34,该群落的层次格局为:灌木层>藤本层>乔木层>草本层;(3) 与其他5个不同类型地区森林群的物种多样性比较结果显示,澳门翻白叶树群落的物种多样性明显低于其他5个森林群落.     

TWO NEW SPECIES AND THREE NEW RECORDS OF THE GENUS CULZCOIDES (DIPTERA:CERATOPOGONIDAE) IN CHINA

Abstract  Two new species of Culicoides, C. desytoculus sp. nov. and C. pulchellus sp. nov., are described from China. Three species of Culicoides, C. gynznopterus, C. parabarnetti and C. pikongkoi , are recorded for the first time in China.     

丽叶蝉属一新种和一中国新记录种（同翅目：叶蝉科：离脉叶蝉亚科）

丽叶蝉属（ Ｃａｌｏｄｉａ Ｎｉｅｌｓｏｎ） 隶属于叶蝉科（ Ｃｉｃａｄｅｌｌｉｄａｅ）、离脉叶蝉亚科（ Ｃｏｅｌｉｄｉｉｎａｅ）、离脉叶蝉族（ Ｃｏｅｌｉｄｉｉｎｉ）,由 Ｎｉｅｌｓｏｎ 建立于１９８２年。它是离脉叶蝉族中较大的１个属,现已知５７种,分布于整个东洋区。国内张雅林于１９９４年在其专著《中国离脉叶蝉分类》一书中系统描述了中国丽叶蝉属１９种。本文记述１新种和１中国新记录种。至此全世界已知丽叶蝉属５８种,中国已知２１种。１． 叉突丽叶蝉 Ｃａｌｏｄｉａ ｂｉｆｕｒｃａｔａ, 新种（图１）♂：体长８．５ｍ ｍ 。正模♂：贵州宽阔水,１９８４－ Ⅷ－ ７,李子忠采。模式标本存放于安徽农业大学植保系。本种雄性外生殖器特征相似于粗突丽叶蝉 Ｃａｌｏｄｉａ ｒｏｂｕｓｔａ Ｎｉｅｌｓｏｎ,但本种阳基侧突长,亚端部分二叉,而后者阳基侧突粗壮,亚端部扩大,不分叉。２． 刺板丽叶蝉 Ｃａｌｏｄｉａ ｂｉｓｐｉｎｏｓａ Ｎｉｅｌｓｏｎ, 中国新记录（图２）♂：体长７．８ｍ ｍ ～８．０ｍ ｍ 。分布：泰国：中国（云南）。该种为 Ｎｉｅｌｓｏｎ （１９８２） 根据泰国１雄虫标本建立的新种,作者首次发现中国云南亦有其分布。本种雄性外生殖器特征相似     

玉竹生物活性成分C对小鼠免疫功能的影响

研究玉竹生物活性成分C对小鼠细胞免疫功能的影响,并探讨其作用机制.采用MTT比色法和CFSE检测小鼠淋巴细胞转化情况,流式细胞术检测对αβT和γδT细胞增殖及CD4+ αβT细胞/CD8+αβT细胞比值的影响,ELISA法检测脾细胞培养上清中Th1细胞因子IFN-γ和Th2细胞因子IL-4的分泌水平.结果显示,玉竹生物活性成分C在一定浓度范围内可促进小鼠脾αβT细胞增殖,其中以1 000μg/mL的浓度作用最强.1 000 μg/mL浓度的玉竹生物活性成分C具有降低CD4+ αβT细胞与CD8+ αβT细胞比值,提高CD8+αβT细胞教量的作用.1 000 μg/mL浓度的玉竹生物活性成分C能有效刺激小鼠脾淋巴细胞释放细胞因子IFN-γ,而对IL-4的产生没有明显的影响.本研究为开发玉竹生物活性成分C提供实验依据.     

Structure of a Two-Domain N-Terminal Fragment of Ribosomal Protein L10 from Methanococcus jannaschii Reveals a Specific Piece of the Archaeal Ribosomal Stalk

Ribosomal stalk is involved in the formation of the so-called “GTPase-associated site” and plays a key role in the interaction of ribosome with translation factors and in the control of translation accuracy. The stalk is formed by two or three copies of the L7/L12 dimer bound to the C-terminal tail of protein L10. The N-terminal domain of L10 binds to a segment of domain II of 23S rRNA near the binding site for ribosomal protein L11. The structure of bacterial L10 in complex with three L7/L12 N-terminal dimers has been determined in the isolated state, and the structure of the first third of archaeal L10 bound to domain II of 23S rRNA has been solved within the Haloarcula marismortui 50S ribosomal subunit. A close structural similarity between the RNA-binding domain of archaeal L10 and the RNA-binding domain of bacterial L10 has been demonstrated. In this work, a long RNA-binding N-terminal fragment of L10 from Methanococcus jannaschii has been isolated and crystallized. The crystal structure of this fragment (which encompasses two-thirds of the protein) has been solved at 1.6 Å resolution. The model presented shows the structure of the RNA-binding domain and the structure of the adjacent domain that exist in archaeal L10 and eukaryotic P0 proteins only. Furthermore, our model incorporated into the structure of the H. marismortui 50S ribosomal subunit allows clarification of the structure of the archaeal ribosomal stalk base.
