Nicolaia elatior is used as an example to demonstrate that the mucronate tepals ofZingiberaceae correspond to hypsophylls (bracts) consisting of a leaf sheath and a rudimentary Oberblatt (= leaf petiole + lamina) represented by the mucro. Evidence for this interpretation is furnished by all available criteria: leaf sequence (exhibiting a complete continuum of forms from foliage leaves over cata- and hypsophylls to the tepals), nervature, and ontogeny.The present conception is compared with the well-founded thesis ofLeinfellner that the perigone ofLiliaceae is derived from the androecium. The different morphological status of the perigone in both families is not regarded as the result of different phylogenetic origin, but as a manifestation of morphogenetic transgressions from one phyllome category to an adjacent one: In theLiliaceae the perigone is under a strong morphogenetic influence of the androecium, and therefore displays staminal characters, in theZingiberaceae it is under the dominating influence of the extrafloral region, and thus appears as a hypsophyllous structure. If this assumption of a morphologically oscillating perigone is correct, it will be fundamentally impossible to demonstrate unequivocally the phylogenetic origin of the monocotyledonous perigone.

Against the background of cercarial fine structure, ultrastructural changes were compared in schistosomules of Schistosoma mansoni 30 min and 1 hr after their production in vivo by skin penetration and in vitro by shear pressure. The same developmental pattern was observed in schistosomules of both derivations. In vitro schistosomules, however, developed more slowly, resembled cercariae more closely, and varied less among organisms than did in vivo schistosomules. The greatest morphological changes were observed in the 1-hr in vivo schistosomules. These were as follows: (1) in tegument, formation of transient microvilli, a hepatalaminate outer membrane and accented surface invaginations, loss of glycocalyx, movement outward of cyton vesicles via bridges, accumulation of multilaminate bodies around bridge openings; (2) in the anterior organ (oral sucker), movement of head gland vesicles via the ducts into tegument followed by collapse of the gland fundus, disappearance of the circumfundal cells and two large support cells, and the appearance in these areas of membranes and parenchymal cells; (3) secretion of the acetabular gland contents, collapse of the glands and replacement by membranes and parenchymal cells; (4) peristaltic activity of the digestive tract as shown by alternate areas of lumen constriction and dilation; (5) loss of bladder and contraction of the small aboral collecting tubules; and (6) conversion of heterochromatic parenchymal cell nuclei to euchromatic. In contrast, the 1-hr in vitro shear schistosomules resembled 30-min in vivo schistosomules, retaining many cercarial features.  相似文献

【目的】大肠杆菌的dcm基因编码的DNA甲基转移酶可以特异性地将5′CCWGG3′(W=A/T)序列中第二个胞嘧啶变成5-甲基胞嘧啶。Dcm甲基转移酶发现已有37年了,但其确切的功能不明,本篇主要研究其对变铅青链霉菌的影响。【方法】通过构建克隆、接合转移、异源表达及HPLC、酶切、Southern杂交等方法研究dcm基因的表达对变铅青链霉菌的多效性影响。【结果】首次发现变铅青链霉菌基因组中不含5-甲基胞嘧啶修饰,将dcm基因导入变铅青链霉菌后,接合子菌落比正常菌落小很多,并有放线紫红素产生。【结论】基因组的表观遗传修饰能激活沉默放线紫红素基因簇的表达这一现象,为基因组挖掘隐藏的活性天然产物提供了一条新途径。  相似文献

锌是植物必需的营养元素,锌指蛋白因其具有指状结构特征且能结合Zn2 而得名,植物锌指蛋白包含特有的QALGGH保守结构,可能涉及调控植物特有的生物学功能。人们已经从拟南芥(Arabidopsis thaliana)、矮牵牛(Petunia hybrida Vilm)、水稻(Oryza sativa)、大豆(Glycine max)、棉花(Gossypium hirsutum)等植物中克隆了许多编码锌指蛋白的基因,并对其结构及功能进行了研究。利用转基因技术,将一些与逆境胁迫相关的锌指蛋白基因在目标植物中过量表达后,能对植物起到增强抗逆性的作用,说明锌指蛋白在增强植物逆境抗性方面有着广阔的应用前景。  相似文献

Clonal fragments of the stoloniferous herb Glechoma longituba were subjected to a complementary patchiness of light and soil nutrients including two spatially homogeneous treatments (SR–SR and IP–IP) and two spatially heterogeneous treatments (IP–SR and SR–IP). SR and IP indicate patches (shaded, rich) with low light intensity (shaded, S), high nutrient availability (rich, R) and patches (illuminated, poor) with high light intensity (illuminated, I) and low nutrient availability (poor, P), respectively. Plasticity of the species in root–shoot ratio, fitness-related traits (biomass, number of ramets and dry weight per ramet) and clonal morphological traits (length and specific length of stolon internodes, area and specific area of laminae, length and specific length of petioles) were experimentally examined. The aim is to understand adaptation of G. longituba to the environment with reciprocal patches of light and soil nutrients by plasticities both in root–shoot ratio and in (clonal) morphology. Our experiment revealed performance of the clonal fragments growing from patches with high light intensity and low soil nutrient availability into the adjacent opposite patches was increased in terms of the fitness-related characters. R/S ratio and clonal morphology were plastic. Meanwhile, the capture of light resource from the light-rich patches was enhanced while the capture of soil nutrients from either the nutrient-rich or the nutrient-poor patches was not. Analysis of cost and benefit disclosed positive effects of clonal integration on biomass production of ramets in the patches with low light intensity and high soil nutrient availability. These results suggest an existence of reciprocal translocation of assimilates and nutrients between the interconnected ramets. The reinforced performance of the clonal fragments seems to be related with specialization of clonal morphology in the species.  相似文献

武汉东湖浮游病毒的丰度及多样性   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
运用透射电镜及荧光显微技术 ,对富营养化的武汉东湖中浮游病毒丰度及多样性进行了研究。电镜观察和计数结果显示 ,东湖中浮游病毒的丰度达到 10 8个 /mL。荧光显微镜计数结果约是电镜计数结果的 2 72倍 ,差异极显著 (P <0 0 1)。在东湖超富营养区的水样中观察到了多种与各种病毒形态类似的颗粒 ,其中大部分与噬菌体和噬藻体类似 ,具多种形态的尾部和六边形头部。还有一些线状、杆状、子弹形等形态的病毒粒子。研究结果显示东湖水环境中的浮游病毒不仅丰度极高 ,而且种类丰富。提示浮游病毒在东湖水环境和水生态系统中可能扮演重要角色。  相似文献

QTL analysis of leaf morphology in tetraploid Gossypium (cotton)   总被引:13,自引:0,他引:13  
Molecular markers were used to map and characterize quantitative trait loci (QTLs) determining cotton leaf morphology and other traits, in 180 F2 plants from an interspecific cross between a Gossypium hirsutum genotype carrying four morphological mutants, and a wild-type Gossypium barbadense. The prominent effects of a single region of chromosome 15, presumably the classical ”Okra-leaf” locus, were modified by QTLs on several other chromosomes affecting leaf size and shape. For most traits, each parent contained some alleles with positive effects and others with negative effects, suggesting a large potential for adapting leaf size and shape to the needs of particular production regimes. Twenty one QTLs/loci were found for the morphological traits at LOD≥3.0 and P≤0.001, among which 14 (63.6%) mapped to D-subgenome chromosomes. Forty one more possible QTLs/loci were suggested with 2.0≤LOD<3.0 and 0.001<P≤0.01. Among all of the 62 possible QTLs (found at LOD≥2.0 and P≤0.01) for the 14 morphological traits in this study, 38 (61.3%) mapped to D-subgenome chromosomes. This reinforces the findings of several other studies in suggesting that the D-subgenome of tetraploid cotton has been subject to a relatively greater rate of evolution than the A-subgenome, subsequent to polyploid formation. The morphological change of several neuroblastoma cell lines induced by griseolic acid, a novel and potent inhibitor of cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase (PDE), was examined. In the cell lines tested, Neuro-2a (a murine neuroblastoma cell line) showed dose-dependent (1 microM-1 mM) neurite extension. Griseolic acid markedly increased the intracellular cyclic AMP level of Neuro-2a cells, suppressed DNA synthesis (82% at 1 mM), and induced multipolar (multiple-neurite-bearing)-type neuritogenesis. A similar type of neurite outgrowth was induced by 8-bromo-cyclic AMP, which also elevated the intracellular cyclic AMP concentration. In contrast, when Neuro-2a cells were treated with retinoic acid, neurite formation was of the monopolar (single-neurite-bearing) type. Papaverine and theophylline, which have been frequently used as PDE inhibitors, failed to induce these morphological changes up to 1 mM, probably owing to the lesser potency of these compounds as compared with griseolic acid on the inhibition of PDE. Retinoic acid, theophylline, and papaverine were ineffective at elevating the intracellular cyclic AMP level. These results suggest that multipolar-type cell shape change in Neuro-2a cells is correlated with the accumulation of intracellular cyclic AMP and that griseolic acid is a useful compound to induce neuroblastoma cells into terminal differentiation.  相似文献
