The impact of growing-season length variability on carbon assimilation and evapotranspiration over 88 years in the eastern US deciduous forest 总被引:17,自引:0,他引:17
Recent research suggests that increases in growing-season length (GSL) in mid-northern latitudes may be partially responsible
for increased forest growth and carbon sequestration. We used the BIOME-BGC ecosystem model to investigate the impacts of
including a dynamically regulated GSL on simulated carbon and water balance over a historical 88-year record (1900–1987) for
12 sites in the eastern USA deciduous broadleaf forest. For individual sites, the predicted GSL regularly varied by more than
15 days. When grouped into three climatic zones, GSL variability was still large and rapid. There is a recent trend in colder,
northern sites toward a longer GSL, but not in moderate and warm climates. The results show that, for all sites, prediction
of a long GSL versus using the mean GSL increased net ecosystem production (NEP), gross primary production (GPP), and evapotranspiration
(ET); conversely a short GSL is predicted to decrease these parameters. On an absolute basis, differences in GPP between the
dynamic and mean GSL simulations were larger than the differences in NEP. As a percentage difference, though, NEP was much
more sensitive to changes in GSL than were either GPP or ET. On average, a 1-day change in GSL changed NEP by 1.6%, GPP by
0.5%, and ET by 0.2%. Predictions of NEP and GPP in cold climates were more sensitive to changes in GSL than were predictions
in warm climates. ET was not similarly sensitive. First, our results strongly agree with field measurements showing a high
correlation between NEP and dates of spring growth, and second they suggest that persistent increases in GSL may lead to long-term
increases in carbon storage.

ABSTRACT. Brown-headed Cowbirds ( Molothrus ater ) impose costs on their hosts, usually resulting in fewer or no host young being raised. In 95% of the studies where attempts were made to estimate the cost of parasitism, cost was measured as the difference in host nestling survival in parasitized and unparasitized nests. For hosts that fledge at least some of their own young along with cowbirds, the magnitude of further brood reduction beyond the nestling stage is not known. To examine the possibility that further brood reduction occurs during the fledgling stage, we compiled 102 observations of 45 species feeding fledgling cowbirds. In 97 cases, observers did not record hosts feeding their own young, suggesting that many young die shortly after fledging from parasitized nests. These observations suggest that measuring the cost of parasitism as the difference between the number of host young fledged from parasitized and unparasitized nests probably overestimates the reproductive output of many hosts. If costs increase during the fledgling stage, then the costs of brood parasitism have been underestimated in many studies. 相似文献

鄂报春Primula obconica作为一种广泛栽培的园艺植物,其野生居群的遗传多样性及遗传结构的研究还少见报道。本文通过叶绿体微卫星分析了17个鄂报春野生居群(共278个个体),共发现4个多态性位点(16个等位基因),得到14个单倍型。结果表明鄂报春具有很高的总基因多样性(HT=0.971)和极低的居群内基因多样性(HS=0.028);分子方差分析(AMOVA)显示98%的变异存在于居群间。这些结果说明早期的生境片断化及有限的种子传播能力是造成当前遗传结构的重要原因。Nst值显著大于Gst值,表明关系相近的单倍型会出现在相同的地区内,同时最小生成树(MST)的分析结果证实了这样的结论。我们在最小生成树的两个组中推断出一些古老单倍型,并推测在冰期时湖北和我国的西南地区可能是该物种的避难所。 相似文献

为了建立一套简便节能的野外夜间增温设施,参照国际上夜间被动式增温系统(passive nighttime warming, PNW),在江苏丹阳设计了稻麦系统夜间被动式增温设施.结果表明:该系统可以保证15.75 m2的有效采样区域,温度增幅均匀,水稻冠层全生育期夜间平均温度升高1.1 ℃,冬小麦冠层和5 cm土层全生育期夜间平均温度分别提高1.3 ℃和0.8 ℃;该增温系统在运行期间,水稻和冬小麦全生育期的冠层和土壤温度的日变化趋势与非增温对照区基本一致.该系统使麦田土壤含水量略微降低,但对小麦生长的影响不明显.将该系统在我国水稻和冬小麦主要产区应用时发现,该夜间增温系统可以使水稻和冬小麦始花期分别平均提前3 d和5 d.该系统的增温效果在不同区域和季节存在一定的差异,但综合考虑该系统的增温均匀性和增温区域有效性,及其对稻麦生育期的影响效果,该设施不仅节能,而且可以满足野外增温试验研究的基本要求. 相似文献

According to data of observations in 2002–2004, differences in the pattern of diurnal fluctuations in the total content and fractional composition of lipids in muscles of mature specimens of kilka Clupeonella cultriventris from the Rybinsk Reservoir in the feeding and spawning periods were revealed. It was established that the feeding intensity in kilka considerably changes throughout 24 h in both periods of the annual cycle, while diurnal fluctuations in the fatness of muscles are distinctly manifested only in the reproductive period and have a dissimilar pattern in specimens of different sexes. In females and males, they are determined mainly by the change in the content of the fraction of reserve lipids-triacylglycerols, as a rule, by its increase in the light hours of the day, several hours after an increase in the feeding activity of fish. The pattern of diurnal fluctuations of the level of lipid fractions (phospholipids, triacylglycerols, cholesterol, and its ethers) in kilka’s muscles differs from that in the feeding period. Possible causes of the change of diurnal variations of the considered indices of lipid metabolism in kilka at an increase in the endocrine activity of its body in the reproductive period is discussed. 相似文献

目的:探讨心理干预在眶骨骨折患者围手术期心理应激反应的影响。方法:自2011年8月至2013年02月我院共收治眶骨骨折手术患者60例,随机分为干预组和对照组各30例。干预组分别在术前1日、术后1日进行心理干预,对照组除了不接受心理干预外,其余护理措施同干预组。对两组患者术前焦虑值及生命体征指标(心率)进行测定。应用SPSS12.0软件包进行数据处理。结果:两组患者术前生命体征指标无明显差异,而术前1日和术后1日干预组焦虑值及生命体征指标明显优于对照组。结论:心理干预能改善眶骨骨折患者围手术期的焦虑状态和恐惧情绪,并且能够稳定其生命体征,使患者顺利渡过围手术期,促进术后恢复,在围手术期护理工作中发挥着积极作用。 相似文献

Summary The majority of bamboos (Graminae) are arborescent and perennial. The erect stems (culms) of woody bamboos are useful for
a wide variety of purposes. Most bamboos flower only once at the end of very long vegetative growth phases and die afterwards.
Flowering in bamboos is thought to be under genetic control, occurring somewhat like an alarm clock, going off at a preset
time. The nature of this genetic clock and any interaction between the ‘internal clock’ and the environment are not yet known.
Because of this ‘peculiar’ flowering behavior, bamboo seeds are available only at very long intervals. Obtaining concurrent
flowering in two or more species (or varieties) in space and time is difficult, making perennial seed propagation and genetic
improvement by breeding nearly impossible. Besides, this peculiar flowering behavior of bamboos is also believed to have brought
the giant pandas to the verge of extinction. One of the spectacular developments in the area of bamboo genetic improvement
has been the precocious in vitro induction of flowering. By this method it has been possible to rapidly accelerate the reproductive
development (within 3–6 mo. versus 30–60 yr in nature). This has opened the possibility of perennial seed propagation and
hybridization. In vitro induction of flowering can be obtained by diverse methods which show some similarities and differences.
Induction of flowering is possible in cultures derived from both juvenile and mature explants. The proportion of seedlings
induced to flower is possibly influenced by genotypic variation, though the role of methods used cannot be ruled out. A cytokinin
or a shift in the auxin-cytokinin equilibrium is believed to bring about in vitro induction of flowering. The pH of the media
also has an influence. Induction of flowering and rhizogenesis is considered to be an antagonistic phenomenon in vitro. A
comparison between in vitro and in vivo flowering in Bambusa arundinacea has shown that though smaller, in vitro-induced florets are comparable to normal florets. There is reduced pollen fertility
and some impairment in pollen wall development. Biochemical studies on the in vitro-induced flowering in bamboos have shown
(1) selective expression of esterase and peroxidase isozymes during transition of nonembryogenic calluses to embryogenic calluses,
somatic embryo development, germination and subsequent flowering of somatic embryo derived shoots, and (2) minimal peroxidase
activity before rhizogenesis and induction of flowering in vitro. There are reports of published and comparable methods having

The main mechanism to achieve hatching asynchrony (HA) for incubating birds is to start heating the eggs before clutch completion. This might be achieved through partial incubation and/or early incubation. Even in the absence of incubation behaviour during the laying phase, clutches still experience a certain degree of asynchrony. Recent studies have shown that eggs located in the centre of the nest receive more heat than peripheral ones during incubation. As eggs receiving more heat would develop faster, we hypothesized that HA should be shorter in nests where eggs were moved homogeneously along the centre–periphery space during incubation than in those nests where eggs repeatedly remained in the same locations, either centrally or peripherally. We explored the relative roles of egg repositioning and partial incubation in determining HA in wild birds by (1) removing eggs from 20 Great Tit Parus major nests on the day of laying and replacing them with fake eggs to avoid partial incubation, and returning them when full incubation began; (2) monitoring twice a day the position of each individually marked egg relative to the clutch centre during incubation, and estimating the coefficient of variation of the distances; and (3) determining HA in each nest. Preventing partial incubation reduced HA by 51% days in experimental nests. It also caused negative effects for the incubating females (lengthening the full incubation period) and positive effects for the brood (increasing fledging success). However, our hypothesis about the role of egg repositioning on HA was not supported: all the females moved the eggs with remarkable consistency, generally attaining a coefficient of variation of the distances around 33%, and it was not related to the HA experienced. We therefore conclude that partial incubation is an important factor regulating HA, and females compensate for the potential effects of differential heating by moving the eggs homogeneously within the clutch. 相似文献
