The basic stress pathway above the acetabular dome is important for the maintenance of implant stability in press-fit acetabular reconstruction of total hip arthroplasty. However, information on the basic stress pathway and its impact factors remains unclear. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of the orientations and positions of the acetabular component on the basic stress pathway. The basic stress pathway above the acetabular dome was defined as two parts: 3D basic trabecular bone stress distribution and quantified basic cortical bone stress level, using two subject-specific finite element normal hip models. The effects were then analysed by generating 32 reconstructed acetabular cases with different cup abduction and anteversion angles within a range of 35–50° and 10–25°, respectively, and 12 cases with different hip centre heights within a range of 0–15 mm above the acetabular dome. The 3D trabecular stress distribution decreased remarkably in all cases, while the 80% of the basic cortical bone stress level was maintained in cases when the acetabular component was positioned at 10° or 15° anteversion and 40° or 45° abduction angles. The basic stress pathway above the acetabular dome was disturbed when the superior displacement of the hip centre exceeded 5 mm above the anatomical hip centre. Positioning the acetabular component correctly contributes to maintain the stress balance between the acetabular cup and the bone during acetabular reconstruction, thus helping restore the normal hip biomechanics and preserve the stability of the implants.  相似文献

The glycosylations of five different rat submandibular kallikreins, rK1, rK2, rK7, rK9 and rK10, vacuum-blotted onto nitrocellulose membranes, have been studied by means of labelled lectins using enhanced chemiluminescence detection. The results demonstrated that individual submandibular kallikreins are not heavily glycosylated in rats, but consistently show different patterns of glycosylation. Following digestion of slot-blotted enzymes with peptide-N-glycosidase F (PNGase): binding by lectin fromLens culinaris (Man-directed) was abolished, whilst that of lectin fromMaclura pomifera (Gal1,3GalNAc-directed) persisted (but could be abolished by periodate oxidation and endo--N-acetylgalactosaminidase digestion), revealing that there are O- as well as N-linked sugar chains on the kallikreins; a novel observation for this family of enzymes. The presence of GalNAc in addition to GlcNAc, Fuc, Gal and Man, in sugar chains of rK1 was confirmed by high pH anion exchange chromatography following acid hydrolysis. Different intensities of binding by lectin fromLimax flavus (NeuNAc-directed) suggest that sialylation of individual kallikreins differs, whilst sialidase and PNGase digestions suggest that sialic acid is the terminal residue of some N-linked but not O-linked structures.  相似文献

Female. —Acta Zoologica (Stockholm) 81 : 213–221 Cloacae of female Proteus anguinus were examined by light and electron microscopy. Females possess spermathecae and anterior ventral glands such as Necturus females. However, female P. anguinus possess new additional cloacal glands of unknown homology. Polyurethane (PU) foam is a material often used in biomechanical experiments and demands for the definition of crushable foam plasticity (CFP) in numerical simulations of the primary stability and deformation of implants, to describe the crushing behaviour appropriately. Material data of PU foams with five different densities (10–40 pounds per cubic foot were ascertained experimentally in uniaxial compression test and used to calibrate CFP models for finite element modelling. Additionally, experimental and numerical deformation, push-out and lever-out tests of press-fit acetabular cups were carried out to assess the influence of the chosen material definition (linear elastic and CFP) on the numerical results. Comparison of the experimentally and numerically determined force–displacement curves of the uniaxial compression test showed a mean deviation of less than 3%. In primary stability testing, the deviation between the experimental and numerical results was in a range of 0%–27% for CFP modelling and 64%–341% for the linear elastic model. The material definition selected, highly influenced the numerical results in the current study. The use of a CFP model is recommended for further numerical simulations, when a deformation of the foam beyond the yield strength is likely to occur.  相似文献

By considering controversial discussions in the literature with regard to gland denomination in Indigofera species, as well as the taxonomic value of secretory structures in Leguminosae, we aim to morphologically detail glands that had been previously observed in I. microcarpa and I. sabulicola, and to investigate the occurrence of glands in vegetative and reproductive organs of other six Neotropical species that belong to the genus. Glands analyzed through scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) in combination with anatomic analyses correspond to secretory trichomes that are classified into seven types. Main variations in relation to types occurred with regard to head shape and peduncle size. Trichome heads were multicellular, with a thin cuticle. Hollow heads with conspicuous inner space characterized only one type (type 1); the other trichome types had massive heads. Peduncles, which varied from biseriate to multiseriate, had thick, pecto-cellulosic cell walls. Trichomes were found on stems, stipules, petioles, rachis, petiolules, leaflets, bracteoles, sepals, standards and fruits, more commonly along the margins. Each of the eight Indigofera species analyzed had at least two different trichome types out of the seven types that occurred in reproductive and vegetative organs of these taxa. Various types of secretory trichomes were found in I. campestris, I. lespedezioides, I. microcarpa, I. spicata, I. suffruticosa and I. truxillensis. Stems and rachis were the vegetative organs in which a greater variety of trichomes occurred, and sepals were parts of reproductive organs with the same status. Five out of the seven secretory trichome types occurred on both vegetative and reproductive organs. Distribution and gland types differed between species and these gland distribution patterns can be used as diagnostic characters. Reports of glands in Indigofera campestris, I. hirsuta, I. lepedezioides, I. suffruticosa, I. spicata and I. truxillensis, their recognition as secretory trichomes, and the morphological variety of types found for such trichomes are novel data for Indigofera.  相似文献

Transgenic hypertensive TGR(mREN2)27 rats (TGR) exhibit an inverse circadian blood pressure profile from the age of 8 to 9 wk. To investigate the role of the sympathetic nervous system in this pathological blood pressure rhythm, we examined postnatal changes in catecholamine concentration, expression of tyrosine-hydroxylase (TH), and norepinephrine (NE) reuptake1-transporter (NET) in the heart, adrenal glands, and hypothalamus of non-hypertensive TGR at an age of 4 wk and of hypertensive TGR at an age of 10 wk and compared these to normotensive, age-matched Sprague-Dawley rats. Rats were kept under synchronized light:dark (LD) conditions of 12:12 h. Blood pressure and heart rate were monitored by radiotelemetry, catecholamines by high performance liquid chromatography, expression of TH and NET (mRNA) by RT-PCR, and TH protein by Western blots. In normotensive 4 wk-old Sprague-Dawley rats, cardiac NE concentrations were circadian phase-dependent with lower values at ZT12.5, with no differences observed, in 10-wk-old animals. At both ages however, sympathetic tone was higher during the dark phase, as shown by a higher turnover of NE. This observation confirms earlier data, which indicate that the endogenous amine concentration may not mirror its turnover rate. TGR at either age had lower cardiac NE as well as lower TH expression and did not display a circadian phase-dependency. The increased cardiac NE turnover rate in the dark phase in non-hypertensive TGR was lost in hypertensive rats. Both cardiac NE concentrations and TH expression decreased with age in both strains. In adrenal glands, NE and epinephrine (E) were not circadian phase-dependent in both strains but increased with age. NE concentrations in the hypothalamus were neither circadian phase-dependent nor different in both strains and at both ages. However, sympathetic tone of NE in the hypothalamus, as indicated by the turnover rate, was greater during the dark phase in both strains at an age of 10 wk. Expression of TH and NET were greatly reduced in adrenal glands when compared to Sprague-Dawley rats; whereas, expression of TH in the hypothalamus was significantly increased in hypertensive TGR. These data indicate that the transgene in TGR leads to an increased central stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system and to a consecutive down-regulation in the peripheral organs. It is of interest that rhythmicity in the studied parameters was lost in hypertensive TGR, except in the turnover of NE in the hypothalamus. We concluded that the data on key mechanisms of regulation of the sympathetic system in TGR cannot explain the inverse blood pressure rhythm observed in this transgenic rat strain.  相似文献

Summary Three types of unicellular glands have been identified from the parapodial epithelium of Nereis. They conform to a common plan. The cell body, which lies at the base of the epithelium, has prominent rough-faced endoplasmic reticulum and golgi. It sends a long intra-cellular duct to the cuticle where it opens through a pore lined by the epicuticle. The end of the duct in two of the glands bears a ring of microvilli. The duct of the type-6 gland is lined by cytoplasm containing elongated mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum arranged in an alternating fashion. Each of these organelles is surrounded by an array of longitudionally orientated microtubules. The secretions are contained in membrane bound vesicles. In the type-4 cells the contents are homogeneous, whilst the other two contain distinctive electron-dense granules. The type-4 secretions are PAS negative and alcianophilic, the type-5 secretions are PAS positive and non-alcianophilic whilst the type-6 secretions have a strong affinity for Orange G.This work was supported by a grant from the Science Research Council.  相似文献
