This investigation of the Cis-Baikal dental record focuses on health and lifestyle reconstruction of the region's mid-Holocene foragers, with particular interest in an apparent fifth millennium BC biocultural hiatus. The four cemetery populations considered represent two distinct biological and cultural groups separated by an apparent 700-year hiatus: the late Mesolithic-early Neolithic Kitoi culture (6800-4900 BC) and the middle Neolithic-early Bronze Age Serovo-Glaskovo cultural complex (4200-1000 BC). Research focuses on the frequency and severity of seven dental health indicators: enamel hypoplasia, caries, alveolar defects, periodontitis, antemortem tooth loss, dental calculus, and dental attrition. Together, these seven indicators provide a basis not only for better understanding mid-Holocene lifeways in the Cis-Baikal but also for independently assessing the relative effectiveness of the different adaptive strategies employed by pre- and posthiatus peoples. Results reveal some discrepancies between the Kitoi and Serovo-Glaskovo, specifically in their relative vulnerability to physiological stress, providing evidence to support previous interpretations of their distinct adaptive regimes (namely the narrower resource base and decreased mobility of the former). Results also suggest that some of the differences observed among the four sites may reflect geographical or environmental factors rather than simply cultural ones. However, despite these distinctions, the overriding trend appears to be one of general continuity, social equality, and good health among all mid-Holocene occupants of the Cis-Baikal, pre- and posthiatus alike. 相似文献

An infant with a clinical phenotype of early onset hypoaldosteronism has been screened for mutation analysis of the Cyp11b2 gene encoding aldosterone synthase enzyme. We have described a novel nonsense mutation in exon 3 (c.508 C > T) that gave rise to a shorter protein (Q170X) and two known concurrent missense mutations (c.594A > C in exon 3 and c.1157 T > C in exon 7) that led to substitution of glutamic acid for aspartic acid at amino acid position 198 (E198D) and of valine for alanine at amino acid position 386 (V386A). The father, who carried E198D plus V386A mutations, showed a fractional sodium excretion of 1.25% that was unmodified by dietary salt restriction, suggesting a mild haploinsufficiency. 相似文献

本文通过甘肃临潭磨沟齐家文化墓地出土的262例人骨标本的牙病情况尤其是龋病、牙周病、根尖周病以及牙结石情况的统计与分析,得知磨沟墓地古代居民牙齿疾病的基本情况:1)牙病的罹患率性别差异显著,女性龋病和根尖周病的罹患率高于男性,而在牙周病和牙结石的出现率上则是男性高于女性;2)牙病的罹患率随着年龄增长而增高;3)龋病、牙周病及根尖周病多发于臼齿,牙结石多发于门齿;4)重度磨耗牙齿多发牙周病及根尖周病;5)牙病罹患率不仅受到性别、年龄、牙位以及齿冠磨耗程度的影响,而且与磨沟组古代居民农业种植食物和采集食物并重的食物结构有关。 相似文献

目的分析和研究阿尔兹海默病(AD)转基因模型小鼠(APP/PS1)活体脑部影像学特征。方法本研究利用7.0 T高场强磁共振成像(MRI)技术,对1、3、5、7、9和11月龄AD转基因小鼠模型及对照组活体脑组织的微观结构变化进行对比研究。定量分析了脑组织顶叶皮层及海马区的横向弛豫时间(T2)、表观扩散系数(ADC)和各向异性分数(FA)随AD小鼠年龄变化情况。结果从9月龄开始AD转基因小鼠顶叶皮层及海马区可见散点状低信号区,并且随年龄增长逐渐增多;AD转基因小鼠顶叶皮层和海马区的T2磁豫时间在1~9月龄过程中有减小趋势,但与对照组无显著性差异;顶叶皮层及海马区ADC值的计算结果表明,7~11月龄AD转基因小鼠的ADC值明显下降(P≤0.05);同样APP/PS1小鼠的FA值从5月龄就开始降低(P≤0.05),并且这种差异一直持续到11月龄。结论高场强MRI能够显示AD病变出现早期小鼠顶叶皮层及海马区FA值的明显改变,揭示FA值对早期痴呆症临床诊断具有一定的参考价值。 相似文献

Pregnant ewes with catheters implanted in an artery and the uterine and recurrent tarsal veins were infused at a constant
rate with U−14C-labelled glucose, alanine or bicarbonate. Measurements were made of the overall and local fractional contribution of glucose
and alanine to CO2 production and of the extent of interconversion of these metabolites. In the whole animal, by coupling the results with the
authors’ previous study of lactate metabolism, a solution was obtained to an open unrestricted 4-compartment model of the
exchange of carbon between glucose, lactate, alanine and CO2. A more limited study was made with non-pregnant sheep because complete data for lactate interactions with alanine were not
available. Our analysis of glucose/lactate/alanine/CO2 interactions in pregnant sheep suggests that about two-thirds of the glycogenic carbon was oxidised fairly directly to CO2. There was relatively little recycling of glucose carbon through lactate and alanine so that most of the remaining glycogenic
carbon was stored as product with relatively long turnover time. It is possible that much of this was in the form of muscle
glycogen, and analysis of glycogenic carbon exchange across the hind limb muscle was consistent with this conclusion. In non-pregnant

Protein Z, a vitamin K-dependent plasma protein, has been detected for the first time in a renal calculus along with osteopontin and prothrombin. The renal calculus was obtained from a hyperuricemic patient. Following two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, the calculus was analyzed with the use of liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS). The spectrometer was equipped with a nanoelectrospray interface and an ion trap. Four peptides were determined from a protein in the calculus through LC-MS/MS analysis. Tandem mass spectrum database matching tools were used to identify the protein as protein Z. Authentic protein Z was also analyzed using the same method, and all four peptides determined in the calculus were similarly identified. Whereas protein Z has been reported to be one of the vitamin K-dependent calcium-binding proteins, its role has not been well established. The fact that protein Z exists in a renal calculus composed of calcium oxalate will be beneficial in any future investigations into its role in the body. 相似文献
