The susceptibility of sorghum to the shoot fly Atherigona soccata Rondani, (Diptera: Muscidae) is affected by seedling age and is highest when seedlings are 8–12 days old. This corresponds with high moisture accumulation on the central leaf which is the path of newly hatched larva as it moves downwards from the oviposition site, towards the growing apex. Studies showed that leaf surface wetness (LSW) of the central shoot leaf was higher in 10-day old seedlings than in seedlings of other ages. Similarly, LSW was much higher in the susceptible sorghum genotype CSH 1 than in the resistant genotype IS 2146. Larvae moved faster towards the growing point and produced deadhearts much earlier in CSH 1 than in IS 2146. They also moved faster in 10-day old seedlings than in seedlings of other ages. It was also shown that the leaf surface wetness of the central shoot leaf is a more reliable parameter of resistance than the glossy leaf trait or trichome density.
L'influence de la humidité de la surface foliaire sur le comportement de la mouche des pousses du sorgho
Résumé La sensibilité du sorgho à la mouche des pousses du sorgho, Atherigona soccata Rondani, est liée à l'âge de la plantule. Elle est plus forte lorsque la plantule est âgée de 8 à 12 jours et la sensibilité est maximale à 10 jours. A ce stade de croissance on observe une forte accumulation d'humidité sur la feuille centrale de la tige. Les jeunes larves traversent cette zone humide lorsqu'elles descendent vers la zone de croissance à partir des pontes déposées sur la face ventrale des feuilles déroulées.Des études ont été menées à l'ICRISAT (Inde) sur la relation entre l'humidité de la feuille centrale de la tige des plantules du sorgho et les dégâts provoqués par la mouche des pousses. L'humidité de la surface des feuilles (HSF) a été estimée grâce à une échelle visuelle graduée 1 à 5 où, 1 = pas d'humidité apparente et 5 = surface de la feuille recouverte de gouttes d'eau. La HSF est plus élevée sur des pousses de sorgho âgées de 10 j que sur les pousses appartenant à d'autres classes d'âge. Les valeurs observées sont également plus fortes pour les variétés non résistantes à ce ravageur (CSH 1,4.8) que pour les variétés résistantes (IS 2146, (2)). La vitesse du déplacement larvaire entre le cornet et la zone de la croissance varie en fonction de l'âge de la plante et des cultivars. Les larves migrent plus rapidement vers la zone de croissance et provoquent la mort du coeur du sorgho plus tôt dans la variété CSH 1 que dans IS 2146. Les larves se déplacent plus rapidement dans les pousses âgées de 10 j que dans les pousses appartenant à d'autres classes d'âge.Des études ont également démontré que la HSF n'est pas directement liée au caractère feuille lisse où à la densité des trichomes. La HSF est faible pour les génotypes résistants présentent où non le caractère feuille lisse. Par contre la HSF est élevée pour les génotypes non résistants présentant le caractère feuille lisse ou non. Aucune relation directe entre la densité des trichomes et les dégâts provoqués par la mouche des pousses n'a pu être mise en évidence. L'analyse des correlations établie pour les caractères de surface des feuilles avec la mort du cur des sorghos indique que les correlations sont faibles et non-significatives pour le caractère feuille lisse (0.49) et la densité des trichomes (0.39 et 0.2). Par contre les correlations sont fortes et significatives pour la HSF (0.82).On conclue que la HSF de la feuille centrale de la tige est un facteur important dans le déterminisme de la résistance du sorgho vis à vis de la mouche des pousses. Les relations entre les processus physiologiques de la plante et les facteurs impliquées dans l'accumulation d'eau sur la surface des feuilles font actuellement l'objet d'études détaillées.

Most tethered adult crickets (Gryllus bimaculatus) assumed flight postures with or without flapping their wings in a windstream. Nymphal crickets (sixth and seventh, i.e. final, instars) also displayed the flight posture in spite of the incompleteness of wing development. These adult nymphal crickets rolled their heads towards the light source in response to unequal illumination of the compound eyes only while maintaining the flight posture. The amphtude of the head rolling movements was proportional to the change of light position up to 120°C, and independent of the light intensity if the duration was longer than 1 sec. The unequal illumination could also induce a transient increase in discharge frequency of the wing muscles on both sides, a decrease in wing beat amplitude of the ipsilateral wing on the illuminated side, and bending movements of the legs and abdomen towards the light. Cutting either of the nerve connectives at any level between the subosophageal and metathoracic ganglia did not affect the response of either the head or the abdomen to illumination. These results are discussed in relation to the steering mechanism associated with the dorsal light reaction.  相似文献

Synopsis Foraging behaviour of the lepidophagous Indo-Pacific teleost Terapon jarbua in the Bulolo and Mtumbane estuaries of southern Africa is described. These observations suggest that scale removal from large fish and the complete ingestion of fish fry represents a modified form of predation. 廊道构建是减少栖息地破碎化负面影响的重要策略之一。目前,已经有许多模型用于动物廊道的选址,而"选址模型是否能准确预测动物迁移的实际发生位置"一直是保护生物学最为关注的问题。最小成本路径模型(LCP)和条件最小成本廊道模型(CMTC)是两种较为常用的廊道选址模型。以白头叶猴(Trachypithecus leucocephalus)为目标物种,分别运用LCP和CMTC模拟生成白头叶猴迁移廊道,将模拟结果与野外观测廊道进行对比,检验两种方法的准确性。结果表明:与野外观测实际廊道相比,LCP模型模拟结果的完全准确率为46.7%,部分准确率为20%,完全不准确率为33.3%;CMTC模型模拟结果的完全准确率为26.7%,其余73.3%为部分准确,无完全不准确的结果;总体上看,CMTC廊道的准确率较LCP高,因而CMTC模型模拟白头叶猴实际迁移廊道位置的准确性优于LCP模型。输入"源"要素类型、阻力面栅格尺度设定、栖息地土地利用类型变化以及动物迁移行为复杂性4个因素是影响该模拟结果准确性的主要原因。  相似文献

Migratory species have geographically separate distributions during their annual cycle, and these areas can vary between populations and individuals. This can lead to differential stress levels being experienced across a species range. Gathering information on the areas used during the annual cycle of red‐throated divers (RTDs; Gavia stellata) has become an increasingly pressing issue, as they are a species of concern when considering the effects of disturbance from offshore wind farms and the associated ship traffic. Here, we use light‐based geolocator tags, deployed during the summer breeding season, to determine the non‐breeding winter location of RTDs from breeding locations in Scotland, Finland, and Iceland. We also use δ15N and δ13C isotope signatures, from feather samples, to link population‐level differences in areas used in the molt period to population‐level differences in isotope signatures. We found from geolocator data that RTDs from the three different breeding locations did not overlap in their winter distributions. Differences in isotope signatures suggested this spatial separation was also evident in the molting period, when geolocation data were unavailable. We also found that of the three populations, RTDs breeding in Iceland moved the shortest distance from their breeding grounds to their wintering grounds. In contrast, RTDs breeding in Finland moved the furthest, with a westward migration from the Baltic into the southern North Sea. Overall, these results suggest that RTDs breeding in Finland are likely to encounter anthropogenic activity during the winter period, where they currently overlap with areas of future planned developments. Icelandic and Scottish birds are less likely to be affected, due to less ship activity and few or no offshore wind farms in their wintering distributions. We also demonstrate that separating the three populations isotopically is possible and suggest further work to allocate breeding individuals to wintering areas based solely on feather samples.  相似文献

Dispersive movements are often thought to be multicausal and driven by individual body size, sex, conspecific density, environmental variation, personality, and/or other variables. Yet such variables often do not account for most of the variation among dispersive movements in nature, leaving open the possibility that dispersion may be indeterministic. We assessed the amount of variation in 24 h movement distances that could be accounted for by potential drivers of displacement with a large empirical dataset of movement distances performed by Fowler''s Toads (Anaxyrus fowleri) on the northern shore of Lake Erie at Long Point, Ontario (2002–2021, incl.). These toads are easy to sample repeatedly, can be identified individually and move parallel to the shoreline as they forage at night, potentially dispersing to new refuge sites. Using a linear mixed‐effect model that incorporated random effect terms to account for sampling variance and inter‐annual variation, we found that all potential intrinsic and extrinsic drivers of movement accounted for virtually none of the variation observed among 24 h distances moved by these animals, whether over short or large spatial scales. We examined the idea of movement personality by testing variance per individual toad and found no evidence of individuality in movement distances. We conclude that deterministic variables, whether intrinsic or extrinsic, neither can be shown to nor are necessary to drive movements in this population over all spatial scales. Stochastic, short time‐scale movements, such as daily foraging movements, can instead accumulate over time to produce large spatial‐scale movements that are dispersive in nature.  相似文献

Net‐wire fencing built to confine livestock is common on rangelands in the Southwestern USA, yet the impacts of livestock fencing on wildlife are largely unknown. Many wildlife species cross beneath fences at defined crossing locations because they prefer to crawl underneath rather than jump over fences. Animals occasionally become entangled jumping or climbing over fences, leading to injury or death. More commonly, repeated crossings under net‐wire fencing by large animals lead to fence damage, though the damage is often tolerated by landowners until the openings affect the ability to enclose livestock. The usage, placement, characteristics, and passage rates of fence crossings beneath net‐wire fencing are poorly understood. We monitored 20 randomly selected fence crossings on net‐wire livestock fencing across two study sites on rangelands in South Texas, USA, from April 2018 to March 2019. We assessed the characteristics of fence‐crossing locations (openings beneath the fence created by animals to aid in crossing) and quantified crossing rates and the probability of crossing by all species of animals via trail cameras. We documented 10,889 attempted crossing events, with 58% (n = 6271) successful. Overall, 15 species of medium‐ and large‐size mammals and turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) contributed to crossing events. Crossing locations received 3–4 crossing attempts per day on average, but the number of attempts and probability of successful crossing varied by location and fence condition. The probability of crossing attempts was most consistently influenced by the opening size of the crossing and season; as crossing size (opening) increased, the probability of successful crossing significantly increased for all species. Peaks in crossing activity corresponded with species'' daily and seasonal movements and activity. The density and size of fence‐crossing locations were dependent on fence maintenance and not associated with vegetation communities or habitat variables. However, crossing locations were often re‐established in the same locations after fence repairs. This is one of the few studies to monitor how all animal species present interacted with net‐wire livestock fencing in rangelands. Our results will help land managers understand the impact of net‐wire livestock fencing on animal movement.  相似文献

在野外围栏条件下,采用2×2×2析因实验,测定外部因子食物、捕食,以及同域分布物种黑线姬鼠的种间竞争对东方田鼠扩散和活动距离的独立作用及其交互作用的效应。研究结果表明,在所有的扩散个体中,幼体扩散的比例为71.0%。雄体扩散的比例为80.5%。东方田鼠扩散的趋势与其种群密度及补充量的变动一致。食物对扩散具有显著独立作用;捕食对扩散的作用接近显著;种间竞争对扩散的直接效应不显著;食物、捕食与种间竞争交互作用对扩散的效应亦不显著。在诱捕期内雄性的长距离活动比例及其诱捕期间长距离活动比例均显著大于诱捕期内雌性及其诱捕期间的长距离活动比例。不同处理种群间,仅雄体在诱捕期间的长距离活动比例具有显著差异;食物对雄体的长距离活动具有直接和间接(通过密度)的效应;而预防捕食者和竞争物种对不同处理种群雄体的长距离活动则无一致的效应。  相似文献

目的:初步探索心理咨询对肝癌所致创伤后应激障碍患者的干预效果。方法:一例肝癌患者接受六次心理咨询服务。采用PTSD症状评估和生活事件症状测评量表,在咨询第一次和第六次对患者实施测评,并收集患者及家属的主观描述。结果:患者经过认知行为、放松和眼动脱敏干预后,其警觉性下降、创伤再体验次数明显减少、睡眠状况改善以及对癌症治疗的管理观念提高,三个月后对患者及家属回访显示,患者症状改善在回访期维持。结论:认知和眼动脱敏疗法对肝癌所致的创伤后应激障碍患者具有潜在的正性干预效果,未来尚需广泛的实证研究。  相似文献
