The mineral composition of deepwater rice (cultivar Kartik Sail) was studied during 1986 in a field near Sonargaon, Bangladesh, which is flooded by water from R. Meghna. Samples were taken four times, once prior to flooding and three times during the flood season. On two of the latter days (10 August = end of first flood peak, 23 September = second flood peak) the study was extended to other components of the ecosystem (sediments + soil, water, other aquatic macrophytes). On 23 September, 32% of the mass of the plant was out of water, 65% in water and 3% in sediment/soil. There were marked differences between elements in their pattern of accumulation by deepwater rice through the season. In comparison with the final totals for each element, about 48% of N, but only 11% of P and 10% of Na had been accumulated by the time the floodwater had arrived. The aquatic roots doubled in mass between the times of the two flood peaks and it is suggested that much of the P taken up by the plant may reach the plant via its aquatic roots after having becoming mobilized and released to the water when sediments become anaerobic. In comparison with other parts of the plant, Na was always much higher in the stem and Zn in the basal roots.Other aquatic macrophytes (weeds) increased from 0.40% of the mass (dry weight) of deepwater rice on 10 August to 4.0% on 23 September. However their content of each element (% dry weight) was considerably higher than that in deepwater rice, so they may at times compete effectively with the rice for nutrients. Immunoblotting analysis was used to identify the microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs) present in cultures of mouse brain neurons. Polyclonal antibodies were raised against the two main adult brain MAPs, i.e., MAP2 (300 kDa) and tau (60-70 kDa). Whatever the stage of the culture, which was performed in a defined medium (3 or 6 days), the anti-MAP2 serum detected several high-molecular-weight components (including MAP2) and an entity with 62-65 kDa. Anti-tau revealed essentially a major peak of 48 kDa (young tau) but also slightly cross-reacted with the 62-65 kDa entity. During the culture period (0-6 days) the cells developed progressively a dense neuritic network; the concentration of the different MAPs increased in parallel but at different rates depending on the different species. The increase in concentration of the high-molecular-weight components occurred before that of 48-kDa tau. This suggests that high-molecular-weight MAPs and 48-kDa tau might be involved respectively in the initiation and elongation of neurites. In contrast, and since the main developmental changes in tau composition seen in vivo did not occur during the time course of the culture, this transition might be related to later events of neuronal differentiation. 相似文献

Early iron deficiency in rat does not affect the weight or the protein, DNA, and RNA content but results in a slight reduction in gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) (13%, p less than 0.01) and glutamic acid (20%, p less than 0.001) content of the brain. The activities of the two GABA shunt enzymes, glutamate dehydrogenase and GABA-transaminase, and of the NAD+-linked isocitrate dehydrogenase (ICDH) were inhibited whereas the glutamic acid decarboxylase, mitochondrial NADP+-linked ICDH, and succinic dehydrogenase activities remained unaltered in brain. On rehabilitation with the iron-supplemented diet for 1 week, these decreased enzyme activities in brain attained the corresponding control values. However, the hepatic nonheme iron content increased to about 80% of the control, after rehabilitation for 2 weeks. A prolonged iron deficiency resulting in decreased levels of glutamate and GABA may lead to endocrinological, neurological, and behavioral alterations. 相似文献

以加热腿足诱发前臂屈侧初始发汗的口腔温度阈值,作为发汗调定点的参考值(ToSSP),检测健康青年93人夏冬两季昼间ToSSP134次。结果表明,季节、性别、民族、于室温24℃左右变异达30%的相对湿度对ToSSP均无显著影响。提示ToSSP为一间接反映体温调定点较发汗率为稳定的指标。ToSSP的频数分布属于正态,均值为37.34℃,95%正常值范围为36.97~37.71℃。经于本工作前,后年份检测的两组结果以及与正常体温夜间最低时相组和发热患者组的ToSSP相验证,证明此正常值范围可靠。检测ToSSP的潜伏期夏季均值为19′57″冬季为18′22″(P<0.05)。检测ToSSP时口温变化分别与皮肤温、心率变化紧密相关,因而心率,皮肤温可作为监测ToSSP的辅佐指标。 相似文献

Summary Phosphate sorption isotherms were developed for five Philippine wetland rice soils using the conventional technique and a modified one. In the conventional method, P requirements of soils varied between 280 and 810 g P/g soil. In the modified method, they varied from 160 to 540 g P/g soil at 0.2 ppm P in solution. Soils with high P-sorption capacities had vermiculite and halloysite as the dominant clay minerals. Soil reduction by flooding decreased P-sorption by 28–70 percent at 0.2 ppm P in solution. The decrease in P-sorption due to soil reduction was greatest in a crystalline soil with vermiculite and halloysite as the dominant clay minerals and least in a soil with dominant X-ray amorphous silicates in the clay fraction.Desorption of freshly adsorbed P under reduction was greater in HCO

solution than in CaCl2 and it increased with level of applied P. Desorption patterns of freshly adsorbed P were similar to adsorption patterns but values of P in solution were lower at desorption. Soils varied with respect to desorption of freshly sorbed P. Desorption studies indicate that soils vary in intensity factor with respect to P and thus influence P availability to plants. Use of P-sorption and P-desorption data obtained under reduced soil condition was proposed for detecting P needs of submerged rice soils.Results of a pot study with IR36 at different levels of solution P (reduced) in one soil indicated a high degree of correlation between adjusted P levels and the measured growth parameters. Summary The F2 potential of single and three-way crosses was evaluated using a set of physiological and yield components. Results were based on an index of selection using (a) only yield components and (b) both physiological and yield components. The indices were constructed using the percentage improvement of F2 over the better parent of the corresponding F1 cross for every character. The performance of F2 plants assessed by the expected value of the regression index was ranked in descending order to provide a ranked F2 distribution (FRD). The FRD was divided into four equal parts, T25 (top 25%), T50 (26–50%), T75 (51–75%) and T100 (76–100%). F3 families derived from F2 plants in T25 were found to provide a higher frequency of selections for pod number than T50, T75 and T100. The frequency of selections was higher in three-way than single crosses. Selection index based on physiological and yield components was more efficient in trapping F2 plants providing selections in F3 than the index based on yield components only. Ovarian tissues were obtained from cyclic goats during the early, mid and late breeding season. Immunoreactive oxytocin was measured by RIA in tissue extracts after chromatography on octadecylsilica cartridges. Luteal oxytocin concentrations were significantly greater during the early breeding season than during the mid or late breeding season. Oxytocin is luteolytic in goats. High concentrations of luteal oxytocin may be related to the high incidence of short estrus at the onset of the breeding season. 相似文献
