Data collected by scientific technicians aboard tuna purse seiners in the eastern Pacific Ocean since the early 1970s have allowed us to study the biology and herd dynamics of pelagic dolphins. A pattern of increasing group size in the morning and subsequent decline in the late afternoon or night was evident for spotted, spinner, and common dolphins, as well as for large yellowfin tuna that associate with dolphins. Diel patterns were also apparent in the formation of mixed-species herds of spotted and spinner dolphins and tuna-dolphin aggregations. Different patterns, however, were displayed by bottlenose dolphins and by yellowfin and skipjack tunas that did not associate with dolphins. It appears that these diel patterns are produced by an interaction of predation pressure and prey distribution.  相似文献

针对渐狭叶烟草(Nicotiana attenuata)组培苗生根困难的问题,本研究测试了不同浓度萘乙酸(NAA)、吲哚丁酸(IBA)、吲哚乙酸(IAA)、嘧啶醇、矮壮素、生根粉及活性炭等外源添加物对组培苗生根的影响。结果表明,对照处理的组培苗在90 d内基本不生根;不同浓度矮壮素处理也不能诱导组培苗生根;而合适浓度的NAA、IBA或IAA处理均能较好地诱导组培苗生根,其中0.8 mg·L-1 IBA不仅具有较好的诱导生根效果,生根率达72.73%,且根及地上部分均生长良好。进一步测试发现0.8 mg·L-1 IBA处理对转基因组培苗具有良好的生根效果,20 d后生根率达60%以上,而对照组未生根;经伤口诱导和0.8 mg·L-1 IBA处理,40 d内总生根率可达90%以上。该研究为高效获得渐狭叶烟草转基因生根苗提供了解决方案,也为渐狭叶烟草作为烟草属模式植物的研究提供了便利。  相似文献

To defend themselves against herbivore attack, plants produce secondary metabolites, which are variously inducible and constitutively deployed, presumably to optimize their fitness benefits in light of their fitness costs. Three phytohormones, jasmonates (JA) and their active forms, the JA-isoleucine (JA-Ile) and ethylene (ET), are known to play central roles in the elicitation of induced defenses, but little is known about how this mediation changes over ontogeny. The Optimal Defense Theory (ODT) predicts changes in the costs and benefits of the different types of defenses and has been usefully extrapolated to their modes of deployment. Here we studied whether the herbivore-induced accumulation of JA, JA-Ile and ET changed over ontogeny in Nicotiana attenuata, a native tobacco in which inducible defenses are particularly well studied. Herbivore-elicited ET production changed dramatically during six developmental stages, from rosette through flowering, decreasing with the elongation of the first corollas during flower development. This decrease was largely recovered within a day after flower removal by decapitation. A similar pattern was found for the herbivore-induced accumulation of JA and JA-Ile. These results are consistent with ODT predictions and suggest that the last steps in floral development control the inducibility of at least three plant hormones, optimizing defense-growth tradeoffs.  相似文献

During 2010, a new foliar blight was detected on potted Dodonaea viscosa cv. Purpurea plants in two nurseries in Catania (Italy). On the basis of morphological and cultural features, the pathogen was identified as Phytophthora palmivora. The internal transcribed spacer (ITS)‐rDNA sequence of a representative Phytophthora isolate from hopbush showed 99% identity with other ITS sequences of different P. palmivora isolates available in GenBank, thus confirming the morpho‐cultural identification. Koch’s postulates were fulfilled by pathogenicity tests on potted Dviscosa cv. Purpurea seedlings. To our knowledge, this is the first report of P. palmivora foliar blight disease on Dviscosa.  相似文献

植物叶脉特征和叶氮含量的变化影响着叶片经济谱的形成,为验证叶片结构中叶脉网络构建提供了理论依据。该文以单位质量叶氮含量(Nmass)和单位面积叶氮含量(Narea)分别表示叶氮含量,采取主成分分析、线性回归分析的方法,研究了云南文山石漠化区旷地(Ⅰ)、林缘(Ⅱ)和林下(Ⅲ)3种自然生境下车桑子的叶脉密度(Vein density,VD)与Nmass和Narea的异速关系。结果表明:从乔灌群落的旷地到林下,车桑子的比叶面积、叶绿素总含量、光能利用率和Nmass逐渐增大,光饱和点、光补偿点、水分利用效率、VD、Narea逐渐减小,净光合速率、蒸腾速率、气孔导度呈先增大后减小的趋势。VD与叶氮含量呈不同程度的相关性,在生境I和III,VD与Nmass和Narea分别具有显著的负相关(P<0.05)和正相关(P<0.05);在生境Ⅱ,VD与Nmass和Narea分别...  相似文献

氮磷养分是限制干热河谷植物生长的重要元素,不同土壤上植物受到的养分限制类型不同。光合作用作为植物生长发育的基础,不同土壤上氮磷养分添加对干热河谷植物光合生理特征的影响还没有报道。因此,以干热河谷优势植物——车桑子为研究对象,在元谋县不同海拔处采集土壤,设置加氮(+N)、加磷(+P)、氮磷同时添加(+NP)和不添加(CK)四个处理,研究车桑子光合响应曲线、叶绿素含量和叶绿素荧光特性对氮、磷添加的响应规律,并探讨光合响应特征与车桑子生长的关系:研究结果显示:1)不同海拔土壤上,车桑子光合生理特性对氮磷添加具有不同的响应。在低海拔燥红土上,氮添加处理(+N和+NP)提高了车桑子净光合速率、叶绿素含量和PSII活性;中海拔紫色土上,+NP促进了车桑子光合速率和叶绿素含量的提高;高海拔黄棕壤上,+N处理降低了车桑子净光合速率和PSII活性,而磷添加处理(+P和+NP)提高了车桑子净光合速率。2)车桑子光合特性对养分添加的响应取决于土壤的养分限制类型,限制性养分添加可以提高车桑子的净光合速率。3)燥红土上+P以及黄棕壤上+N对PSⅡ最大光化学效率(Fv/Fm)的降低更大程度上归于可变荧光Fv的减少而不是最小荧光F0的增加,可减少养分限制对光系统II造成的伤害。4)三种土壤类型上车桑子的叶绿素含量和组成差异极显著,相比于燥红土和紫色土,黄棕壤上车桑子的叶绿素含量显著更高,而叶绿素a/b显著更低。综上,本研究结果表明,车桑子光合能力受到氮和磷的共同调节,不同土壤上光合生理特性的响应可增强植物对限制性养分的适应性,影响植物生长发育。  相似文献

Arabidopsis and tomato plants mutated in the F-box protein COI1 mediating jasmonate (JA) responses are more susceptible to herbivores in laboratory trials, but the exact mechanisms of COI1-mediated resistance are not known. We silenced COI1 by transformation with an inverted repeat construct (ir-coi1) in Nicotiana attenuata, a plant the direct and indirect defenses of which against various herbivores have been well studied. ir-coi1 plants are male sterile and impaired in JA-elicited direct [nicotine, caffeoylputrescine and trypsin proteinase inhibitor (TPI) activity] and indirect (cis-alpha-bergamotene emission) defense responses; responses not elicited by JA treatment (ethylene production and flower TPI activity) were unaffected. Larvae of Manduca sexta, a common herbivore of N. attenuata, gained three times more mass feeding on ir-coi1 than on wild-type (WT) plants in glasshouse experiments. By regularly moving caterpillars to unattacked leaves of the same plant, we demonstrate that larvae on WT plants can grow and consume leaves as fast as those on ir-coi1 plants, a result that underscores the role of COI1 in mediating locally induced resistance in attacked leaves, and the importance of herbivore movement in avoiding the induced defenses of a plant. When transplanted into native habitats in the Great Basin Desert, ir-coi1 plants suffer greatly from damage by the local herbivore community, which includes herbivores not commonly found on N. attenuata WT plants. Choice assays with field-grown plants confirmed the increased attractiveness of ir-coi1 plants for both common and unusual herbivores. We conclude that NaCOI1 is essential for induced resistance in N. attenuata, and that ir-coi1 plants highlight the benefits of herbivore movement for avoiding induced defenses.  相似文献

本文利用改良的石蜡包埋切片染色技术,对太平洋日本沿岸收集到的286头斑点原海豚(Stenella attenuata)的牙齿标本进行了年龄鉴定,定义了斑点原海豚的牙齿质和牙骨质生长层组(GLGs)。从年龄和生长的角度对斑点原海豚的一些种群生物学特征进行了分析,并推算了部分种群参数。斑点原海豚在约18龄时,牙齿质停止生长,牙髓腔封闭。牙齿质中计数到的GLGs最多为18层,牙骨质中计数到的最多为42层。斑点原海豚的年龄与生长在一定范围内遵循一定的幂函数关系。5—6龄以前,斑点原海豚生长迅速,雌雄生长无明显差异。8—14龄之间,雄性的生长快于雌性。雌性约17龄时达到饱和体长191cm,雄性约22龄达到饱和体长201cm[动物学报51(3):476-485,2005]。  相似文献
