Professional Point of Care testing demands rapid analysis and professional quality. To assure rapid analysis of high quality the analytical tool ideally should be able to work without sample pre‐treatment and should offer the opportunity to calibrate and/or control the analytical performance of the tool. In contrast to an enormous number of different disposable‐strips used for patient self monitoring today and based on an extended knowledge with respect to multi‐way biosensors used in laboratory analyzers we decided to develop a professional Point of Care Testing system for glucose analysis based on a multi‐way biosensor. The multi‐way glucose biosensor placed in the instrument for 30 days did reduce the lag time between blood withdrawal and availability of a result of lab quality in a bedside area to about 10 seconds. No pre‐analytical steps are necessary for measuring capillary whole blood, no crossing over was observed, and the data could be transferred into a laboratory information system or a hospital information system. Thus, we were able to realize tools for professional health control able to measure glucose values in laboratory quality at places outside laboratories: e.g., in doctor's offices, hospital wards, critical care units, and training units of athletes. By combining the advantages of laboratory analyzers (high quality and low sample price) and the advantages of disposable strips (simple procedure and immediate results after sample withdrawal) with the Glukometer 3000 and LactatProfi 3000 we did start to fill the gap between the two basic technologies available on the market for diagnosis today. Glukometer 3000 and LactatProfi 3000 are worldwide the first and only mobile glucose and lactate measuring instruments for decentralized locations based on multi‐way biosensors.  相似文献

The replacement of natural grassland by cultivated areas might favor the increase in abundance of some root-feeding species such as the white grubs, which may become a constraint for field crop production. This research aimed to assay the population density and geographical distribution of white grubs pest and other species in natural grassland and cultivated areas throughout the Brazilian Pampa biome. White grubs were sampled in 18 locations in both landscape use types and identified. Population density (number of larvae m?2) was calculated for each recorded species and sorted within two groups (pest species and other species), compared between natural grasslands and cultivated areas, as well as among locations. A dendrogram to evaluate species similarity among locations was built based on combined data obtained from both landscape use types throughout the region. In total, 31 species were found in the Brazilian Pampa, and four of them are considered as crop pests: Diloboderus abderus (Sturm, 1826), Euetheola humilis (Burmeister, 1847), Lyogenys fusca (Blanchard, 1830), and Phyllophaga triticophaga Morón & Salvadori, 1998. The average population density of pest species in cultivated areas was less than five larvae m?2, at most of locations. Some species had a wide geographical distribution (e.g. D. abderus and Cyclocephala modesta Burmeister), while other melolontids occurred at only one location. The knowledge of which white grub species are present in a field and its population densities assist farmers to take proper management decisions.  相似文献

Macroremains of late Neolithic cultivated plants are reported from the archaeological site of Maliq, Korça District, south-eastern Albania. The material comprises einkorn (Triticum monococcum L.), emmer (Triticum dicoccon Schrank), barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) and bitter vetch (Vicia ervilia (L.) Willd.). These are the first remains of cultivated plants described from an archaeological site in Albania.  相似文献

Summary Seed protein electrophoresis is increasingly being utilized as an additional approach for species identification and as a useful tool for tracing back the evolution of various groups of plants. This paper summarizes the main features of the seed protein profile — stability, uniformity and additive nature. In addition, the significance of this approach for resolving specific taxonomic and evolutionary problems is pointed out.  相似文献

There are very few studies on Tuber melanosporum associated with Cistus populations. In central Spain, we confirm that C. laurifolius shows carpophore production of Tuber melanosporum. This study demonstrates a correlation between T. melanosporum production and the size of the 41 burns, with burn size explaining 26 % of the variability in carpophore production. However, statistical analysis of the results indicates that average production of 21 burns with Cistus laurifolius is 73 % lower than the production of 20 burns associated with Quercus/Corylus without Cistus laurifolius in this zone, respectively. C. laurifolius develops small burns, which has an impact on their carpophore production, and their soils have 92 % less active carbonate than the burns associated with Quercus/Corylus in this zone, respectively. The low levels of active carbonate allow Cistus laurifolius to grow, but impair Tuber melanosporum production. We thus provide a mechanism, based on the inability of Cistus laurifolius to grow in highly carbonated soils, which contradicts the well-known fact that C. laurifolius might act as a transmitter of Tuber melanosporum mycorrhizae. These results indicate that this rockrose can not be considered a useful species for truffle culture. We thus recommend that particular attention should be given to the concentration of active carbonate present in the soil in future studies on the relationship between Cistus species and truffles.  相似文献
