Abstract. Many Rumex species show similar seed dormancy characteristics but there is more information concerning R. crispus and R. obtusifolius than other species. These species respond positively to red or white light. Far-red light applied for short periods may promote or inhibit germination depending on the timing of the irradiation in relation to temperature change; but long periods of far-red inhibit germination. Seeds may also be stimulated to germinate in the dark by low-temperature stratification at 15°C or less providing the temperature of the seeds is subsequently raised to a minimum of about 15°C. Seeds can, however, germinate at lower temperatures providing they have received other appropriate stimulatory treatment. Seeds also respond to alternating temperatures. In a diurnal cycle the minimum upper temperature required is about 15°C and the maximum lower temperature is about 25°C. The optimum period spent at the upper temperature is about 8 h when it is 15–25°C but the optimum period decreases as the upper temperature is increased above this range so that at 45°C, for example, it is only about 30 min. The period spent at the lower temperature in a diurnal cycle is not critical. Providing these criteria are met, the percentage germination increases with the number and amplitude of the cycles. The warming part of the cycle is necessary for the response but so far there is no convincing evidence that cooling itself is important. Secondary dormancy is induced at constant temperatures at a rate dependent on temperature, but apparently only in the presence of oxygen. This feature affects the optimum timing of a temperature change or exposure to light. Strong positive interactions are shown between stimulatory temperature treatments and white or red light. Unlike many other weed species the seeds respond only slightly to nitrate ions. The implications of these responses are discussed in relation to field behaviour.  相似文献

For centuries, Fennoscandian wooded meadows and woodland pastures (Habitats Directive habitat types *6530 and 9070 respectively) covered large areas of Northern Europe. In the Twentieth Century, abandonment-driven encroachment has led to the wooded grasslands changing into what may be considered as old-growth deciduous forests. The present paper examined whether the present stand structure and the composition of three contrasting functional groups (herbaceous layer vascular plants, epiphytic bryophytes, and earthworms) could serve as indicators of the historic origin of the forest patches, i.e. to what extent changes in ecological conditions in overgrown woodlands have shifted towards broad-leaved forests with ancient trees. Indicators were tested for the objective of restoration planning of habitat quality, i.e. whether semi-open woodlands could be restored or if it would be more appropriate to preserve them as broad-leaved forests. The study was carried out by comparing the composition of ancient forest cores, forest edges and overgrown wooded grasslands. The land use history of sample sites was examined from historical topographical maps and aerial photos.The results showed that as long as 60 years after abandonment, parts of the studied forests still retained some light-demanding plant species characteristic of historical wooded grasslands. The composition of earthworm communities was similar in all of the studied historical forest groups. Only some of the stand structure characteristics and epiphytic mosses indicated that there were differences between ancient forest cores and overgrown wooded grasslands. We conclude that the combination of various functional indicators should be used in the evaluation of successional woodlands for habitat restoration.  相似文献

Here, we provide insights into the thermodynamic properties of A dissociation from an amyloid fibril using all‐atom molecular dynamics simulations in explicit water. An umbrella sampling protocol is used to compute potentials of mean force (PMF) as a function of the distance ξ between centers‐of‐mass of the A peptide and the preformed fibril at nine temperatures. Changes in the enthalpy and the entropic energy are determined from the temperature dependence of these PMF(s) and the average volume of the simulation box is computed as a function of ξ. We find that the PMF at 310 K is dominated by enthalpy while the entropic energy does not change significantly during dissociation. The volume of the system decreases during dissociation. Moreover, the magnitude of this volume change also decreases with increasing temperature. By defining dock and lock states using the solvent accessible surface area (SASA), we find that the behavior of the electrostatic energy is different in these two states. It increases (unfavorable) and decreases (favorable) during dissociation in lock and dock states, respectively, while the energy due to Lennard‐Jones interactions increases continuously in these states. Our simulations also highlight the importance of hydrophobic interactions in accounting for the stability of A . Proteins 2015; 83:1963–1972. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

 本文研究了鼎湖山南亚热带常绿阔叶林和针叶林的凋落物量及凋落物中主要营养元素(N、P、K、Ca、Mg)的含量。8年的测定结果表明,两个森林类型的年均凋落物量(t·ha-1)及凋落物中主要营养元素的含量(t·ha-1·yr-1)分别为:常绿阔叶林9.056,0.220;针叶林2.695,0.032。凋落物中叶、枝和花果的百分组成及凋落特征各异。鼎湖山南亚热带常绿阔叶林的年均凋落物量低于热带雨林而高于暖温带落叶阔叶林,说明不同气候带的森林类型,其凋落物量是有差异的。与针叶林相比较,常绿阔叶林的凋落物量较大,凋落物中主要营养元素的含量较高,凋落物的分解速率也较快,因此从提高森林的质量和增强森林的生态效益来考虑,在造林绿化上应提倡多营造常绿阔叶林或针阔叶混交林。  相似文献

采用红外气体分析仪对长白山阔叶红松林2003年度CO2浓度特征进行了分层连续监测,并结合同步气象资料进行了分析.结果表明,长白山阔叶红松林CO2浓度存在明显的日变化、季变化与垂直变化,这些变化与植被生理活动、土壤呼吸及林内湍流交换强度有关.生长季林内全天CO2浓度最高值出现在凌晨5:00左右的近地面层,最低值出现在午后15:00左右的冠层部位;日出前后,随着逆温层的打破,林下CO2有一明显的释放过程.观测期间林内O2平均浓度为377 μmol·mol-1,月平均最高值出现在1月,为388 μmol·mol-1,最低值出现在8月,为352 μmol·mol-1.生长季夜间森林表现为CO2的排放,日间表现为CO2的吸收汇;非生长季日间与夜间森林都主要表现为CO2的排放源,但在午间冠层部位仍有数小时表现为CO2的吸收过程.  相似文献

河岸带是森林小流域单元的重要组成部分之一。由于河水的影响和边缘效应等因素的综合作用,河岸带植物群落与远离河岸带的森林群落在组成,结构和分布格局等方面存在较大差异,其如落最小面积也不同。本文对长白山原始阔叶红松林河岸带植物群落最小面积和物种丰富度进行了探讨。结果表明,河岸带植物群落的最小面积均小于远离河岸带的森林群落的最小面积,在河岸带,阔叶红松林群落的60,80和90%植物在时的平均最小面积分别约为80,180和320m^2;而远离河岸带的森林内部,相应的平均最小面积分别为260,380和480m^2左右。河岸带植物群落的物种丰富度普遍高于森林群落。  相似文献
