田鼠种群波动的原因和时间   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
本文总结了橙腹田鼠(Microtus ochrogaster)和草原田鼠(M.permsylvanicus)25年的种群统计学研究结果和结论。探讨了田鼠种群波动周期性、诱发种群波动以及导致波动期间峰值变异的因素。并对种群存活值和繁殖活动的作用进行了分析和评价。根据两种田鼠种群波动周期性、波动峰值出现的时间以及特定年份峰值的高度等特征,证明两物种波动均具有不稳定性。两种田鼠存活值的变化是由特定年份是否发生波动以及波动峰值出现的时间决定。增加初始阶段的种群密度及时间长度是造成两种动物种群波动峰值不同的主要原因。橙腹田鼠种群停止增长的原因是存活值降低,而草原田鼠则是繁殖活动减少。据推测,与种群波动初始密度相关的种群死亡率的差异是由捕食者的净效应(Net effect)决定的,调控两种群密度的因素均为非密度的其它生态学因子。由于特定年份田鼠种群捕食压力的不确定性,导致了橙腹田鼠和草原田鼠种群波动的不稳定性。  相似文献

Grazing is a widely applied conservation management tool, but the optimal regime for biodiversity conservation is still unknown. The effects of grazers on small mammals are not yet fully understood and mostly restricted to studies which compare grazed with ungrazed areas. We determined the effect of different livestock grazers and densities and a rotation regime, on voles in a conservation area in The Netherlands. We used a 7-year grazing experiment with horse and cattle grazing at two densities namely 0.5 and 1 animal ha−1 (equivalent to 0.4 and 0.8 LSU), including a rotation regime i.e. 1 year summer grazing with 1 cattle ha−1 followed by 1 ungrazed year. We recorded vole activity signs as a measure for presence (i.e. presence of burrow entrances, droppings, runways and plant clippings) in circular 2 m2 plots along transects. Low grazer densities, regardless of species, corresponded to higher vole presence. Vole presence tended to be greater with cattle grazing than with horse grazing, but the difference was not significant. The increase in vole presence was greater in the rotation regime than with low or high density cattle grazing. The different vole activity signs provided similar results to each other with the exception of burrow entrances, suggesting that this measure is less accurate in predicting vole presence. Hence, voles clearly responded to the different grazing regimes. Our results have high relevance for conservation, in particular in systems where small mammals contribute to important ecological processes (e.g. bioturbation, seed dispersal) and play a crucial role in the survival of (iconic) higher trophic level taxa such as raptors or mammalian predators. In such systems, conservation management may best implement low-density cattle or rotation grazing.  相似文献

The sexual selection theory predicts that traits associated with male–male competition or female mate choice honestly reflects individual quality when they are costly and condition dependent. Dominance seems to be a reliable signal of male quality. The aim of this study was to investigate whether dominance rank, measured in terms of agonistic interactions and trait correlated with dominance, such as preputial gland mass, depends on condition in captive male bank voles. We used five physiological measures to characterize condition: body mass, neutrophils to lymphocytes ratio (N/L ratio), spleen mass, thymus mass and adrenal gland mass. Additionally, the condition of males was challenged with a T cell-dependent antigen, sheep red blood cells. Dominance rank was not significantly related to body mass, N/L ratio and adrenal gland mass but was positively correlated with immune defence organ mass. Moreover, testes mass was positively related to the N/L ratio. However, after Bonferroni correction, only the relationship between preputial gland mass and thymus mass remained significant. Results of this experiment showed condition dependence of dominance in captive male bank voles.  相似文献

Avian egg size is highly variable on the population level, but is considered inflexible on the individual level. On the basis of 2969 measurements of individual eggs collected during 1981-2005, we analysed heritability, plasticity and selection on egg size in the Ural owl, a long-lived bird that preys on voles. Vole abundance varied in a 3-year cycle, creating varying food supply across the cycle's phases. Ural owl egg size is heritable (h(2) = 60%). Ural owls lay larger eggs in improved food conditions. On the basis of repeated breeding records of 59 females that bred in all vole cycle phases, we show that intra-individual adjustment (plasticity) explained 22.4% of the variation in egg size across phases. Egg size was under stabilizing selection. Extremely small and extremely large eggs had reduced hatchability, and individuals who laid either large or small eggs had lower lifetime fledgling production than the ones laying intermediately sized eggs. Our findings illustrate how maternal investment in egg size can both be heritable and highly responsive to variable environmental conditions, and suggest that variation in the investment in egg size across individuals is canalized.  相似文献

We report a 36-month echo of vole ( Microtus pennsylvanicus ) seed-selection in the composition of synthetic forb communities in Wisconsin. An initial study showed direct suppression of an exceptionally large-seeded (seed > 15 mg) species ( Silphium integrifolium , Asteraceae) by seed-size predation by rodents during the winter, resulting in indirect release of small-seeded (seed ≤ 1.5 mg) species. Twelve months after planting, plant diversities (Simpson's D) were 33% higher in plots exposed to winter seed selection by rodents. Thirty-six months after planting, Silphium integrifolium had almost equalized densities in rodent access (20.8 ± 4.1 m–2) and exclusion (29.0 ± 5.2 m–2) plots, but still suppressed both large-seeded (≥ 3.5 mg) and small-seeded (≤ 1.5 mg) species ( F 1,16=11.84 and F 1,16=10.42, P  ≤ 0.005, respectively). A multivariate analysis of covariance ( MANCOVA ) distinguished effects of Silphium integrifolium (Wilk's lambda P =0.029) from echoes of earlier winter granivory (Wilk's lambda P =0.014). Thirty months after rodent exclusion, diversity (D) remained 27% higher in plots once opened to winter granivory (adjusted mean 4.70 ± 0.37 SE) as compared with closed plots (3.70 ± 0.26; F 1,16=5.12, P  < 0.05). Echoes of earlier granivory remained after rodent-induced imbalances in the abundances of the competitive driver of this system, Silphium integrifolium , all but disappeared.  相似文献

采用标志重捕和染色观测法跟踪了内蒙古典型草原区布氏田鼠野外种群,按绝对时间年龄研究其种群繁殖参数。结果3表明:4-5月份出生的雄鼠能在当年达到性成熟,性成熟发育历期约为1.5个月,6月后出生的雄鼠当年达不到性成熟。在达到性成熟的当年雄鼠中,多数个体再度转入性休止期,其平均繁殖结束时间要林越冬雄鼠早1个月,而越冬雄鼠则在整个繁殖期保持性活动状态。雌鼠性成熟发育历期约为1个月,首次产仔时间约为2月龄。雌鼠在一年中的产仔窝数与其年龄有关;越冬鼠能产3-4窝,4月份出生的雌鼠能产2-3窝,5月份出生的雌鼠当年能产1-2窝,6月份出生的雌鼠能产0-1窝,7月份之后出生雌鼠当年不参加繁殖,在自然条件下,布氏田鼠一年中最多能产4窝。  相似文献

采用染色体C 带技术和小鼠整条Y染色体特异探针检测棕色田鼠的Y染色体 ,结果如下 :棕色田鼠雄性个体C 带中期分裂相中 ,X性染色体是亚中部着丝粒染色体 ,在着丝粒处存在着强烈的C阳性带 ,而且在短臂的中间也有一条C阳性带 ,但是没有发现深染的Y染色体。用小鼠整条Y染色体特异探针涂染棕色田鼠的骨髓细胞中期分裂相和间期核 ,以小鼠骨髓细胞中期分裂相和间期核作为对照。涂染结果表明 :棕色田鼠骨髓细胞中期分裂相和间期核涂染信号检出率分别为 0 - 2 %和 3% - 5 % ,两者均呈阴性反应 ,而对照都呈阳性反应。根据实验结果 ,作者认为在棕色田鼠的Y染色体上及整个基因组DNA中不存在小鼠整条Y染色体特异DNA的同源序列 ,其Y染色体上可能没有决定雄性性别的重要基因  相似文献
