The growth of pikeperch Sander lucioperca was studied in 41 lakes in central Finland. The backcalculated average total length of 3 year‐old pikeperch was used as an indicator of growth. The growth correlated positively with total phosphorus and water colour and negatively with lake area and depth. The reason for differences in growth may be differences in the amount of suitable food, foraging success or temperature dynamics in different lakes.  相似文献

运用15N稳定性同位素示踪技术,对高寒草甸植物和土壤微生物固持沉降氮的能力及沉降氮在小嵩草(Kobresia pygaea)草甸中的运移规律进行了研究.施肥2周后,NO-3-15N和NH+4-15N的总恢复率分别为73.5%和78%.无论是NO-3-15N,还是NH+4-15N,植物所固持的15N总是比土壤有机质或者是土壤微生物固持的多.4周后,70.6%的NO-3-15N和57.4%的NH+4-15N被固持在土壤和植物中.其中,土壤有机质所固持的15N均下降了很多,而植物所固持的15N却变化很小.同前面的结果相比,较多的NO-3-15N为土壤微生物所固持.在施肥6周和8周后,NO-3-15N的总恢复率分别为58.4%和67%,而NH+4-15N的总恢复率分别为43.1%和49%.植物和土壤微生物所固持的NO-3-15N比NH+4-15N多.在整个实验期间,植物固持的NO-3N较多,而且比土壤微生物固持了较多的15N.由于无机氮的含量一直很低,无机氮库所固持的15N一般不超过1%.上述结果意味着短期内植物在高寒草甸中对沉降氮的去向起着决定作用.  相似文献

This study assessed the effect of leaf age on construction cost (CC) in the mangrove species Avicennia germinans, Laguncularia racemosa, and Rhizophora mangle growing in their natural habitat. Leaf osmolality values were species-specific, the highest in A. germinans (1 693 mmol kg–1) and the lowest in L. racemosa (1 270 mmol kg–1). In the three species, contents of chlorophyll (a+b) (Chla+b) and nitrogen (N) per unit of leaf area were maximal in adult leaves and tended to decline with age. Leaf mass to leaf area ratio (LMA) and ash content increased during leaf ageing. Similarly, as leaves aged, a significant increase in leaf construction cost per leaf area (CCa) was observed, while per leaf mass (CCm) it remained almost constant, suggesting a sustained production of leaf compounds as leaves became older. CC was positively correlated with LMA and heat of combustion (Hc) per leaf area, suggesting differences among species in the quantity and composition of expensive compounds. Leaf half lifetime (t0.5) showed contrasting values in the three mangrove species (60, 111, and 160 d in L. racemosa, R. mangle, and A. germinans, respectively). Overall, L. racemosa was the species with less expensive leaves to construct while leaves of A. germinans and R. mangle had the highest CCm and CCa, respectively. Leaf longevity was positively correlated with the ratio between CC and maximum photosynthetic rate (P max), clearly showing the existence of a balance between leaf costs and benefits.  相似文献

Binding of the Type I isozyme of mammalian hexokinase to mitochondria is mediated by the porin present in the outer mitochondrial membrane. Type I hexokinase from rat brain is avidly bound by rat liver mitochondria while, under the same conditions, there is no significant binding to mitochondria from S. cerevisiae. Previously published work demonstrates the lack of significant interaction of yeast hexokinase with mitochondria from either liver or yeast. Thus, structural features required for the interaction of porin and hexokinase must have emerged during evolution of the mammalian forms of these proteins. If these structural features serve no functional role other than facilitating this interaction of hexokinase with mitochondria, it seems likely that they evolved in synchrony since operation of selective pressures on the hexokinase–mitochondrial interaction would require the simultaneous presence of hexokinase and porin capable of at least minimal interaction, and be responsive to changes in either partner that affected this interaction. Recent studies have indicated that a second type of binding site, which may or may not involve porin, is present on mammalian mitochondria. There are also reports of hexokinase binding to mitochondria in plant tissues, but the nature of the binding site remains undefined.  相似文献

Reciprocal signals between the motor axon and myofiber induce structural and functional differentiation in the developing neuromuscular junction (NMJ). Elevation of presynaptic acetylcholine (ACh) release on nerve-muscle contact and the correlated increase in axonal-free calcium are triggered by unidentified membrane molecules. Restriction of axon growth to the developing NMJ and formation of active zones for ACh release in the presynaptic terminal may be induced by molecules in the synaptic basal lamina, such as S-laminin, heparin binding growth factors, and agrin. Acetylcholine receptor (AChR) synthesis by muscle cells may be increased by calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), ascorbic acid, and AChR-inducing activity (ARIA)/heregulin, which is the best-established regulator. Heparin binding growth factors, proteases, adhesion molecules, and agrin all may be involved in the induction of AChR redistribution to form postsynaptic-like aggregates. However, the strongest case has been made for agrin's involvement. “Knockout” experiments have implicated agrin as a primary anterograde signal for postsynaptic differentiation and muscle-specific kinase (MuSK), as a putative agrin receptor. It is likely that both presynaptic and postsynaptic differentiation are induced by multiple molecular signals. Future research should reveal the physiological roles of different molecules, their interactions, and the identity of other molecular participants.  相似文献

Hairy roots were obtained after infection of Artemisia absinthium shoots with Agrobacterium rhizogenes strains 1855 and LBA 9402. The susceptibility to hairy root transformation varied between plant genotypes and bacterial strains. Hairy roots showed macroscopic differences from control root cultures. Southern blot hybridization confirmed the integration of T-DNA from both p1855 and pBin19, while polymerase chain reaction analysis indicated the presence of the neomycin phosphotransferase gene in the hairy root genome. Subcultured transformed root lines grew well in selective B5 agar-solidified medium containing kanamycin or rifampicin and without hormones. Shake-flask experiments with fast-growing root lines showed that 40 g l–1 was the best sucrose concentration for biomass production, yielding a 463-fold increase in dry weight after 28 days of culture. Great differences were found in the profiles of the essential oils isolated from normal and hairy roots. Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry analysis showed the oil produced by transformed cultures to be a mixture of 50 compounds with only one major component representing 37% of the oil content. Normal biometric ranges for fetal growth in a captive breeding baboon (Papio hamadryas) colony are described. Measurements include crown-rump length, biparietal diameter, binocular distance, head circumference, abdominal circumference, femur length and amniotic fluid index. The pattern of fetal growth is compared with other baboon subspecies and man. The uses and limitations of such data for breeding colony management and optimum utilisation of experimentally derived data are discussed.  相似文献

本文在野外采集、查阅标本和文献考证的基础上,对东北地区水生植物区系与周缘地区水生植物区系的关系进行了初步分析。由于日本在地史起源上曾与大陆相连,且现代气候环境与东北地区的相似,故两者间水生植物的相似性系数最高O在更新世前古嫩辽河与结雅河相连通,使东北与远东地区间的水生植物得以相互交流,同时两区还保存有一些第三纪植物于遗种类,但因远东地区缺少东北暖温带气候,故一些东北产的暖温带种类未能分布该区,使其与东北水生植物种类相似性系数位于第二位。印度次大陆、澳大利亚、东南亚和非洲因与东北地区位于不同的气候带中,故水生植物种类相似性系数较低。在国内各地区中,以华北地区与东北地区水生植物的相似性系数最高,因两者过去同属古黄河水系,近代又接壤;相反,以与华南、台湾和海南岛的水生植物种类相似性系数最低。因相互间即存地理隔离,又无水系相通。  相似文献
