分析了1 2种无尾类的求偶鸣叫特征参数,包括角蟾科(Megophryidae) 2种:峨眉角蟾(Megophrysomeimontis)、高山掌突蟾(Leptolalaxalpinus) ;雨蛙科(Hylidae) 2种:华西雨蛙(Hylaannectans)、秦岭雨蛙(H .tsinlingensis) ;树蛙科(Rhacophoridae) 5种:斑腿树蛙(Rhacophorusmegacephalus)、无声囊树蛙(R .mutus) ,宝兴树蛙(R .dugritei)、经甫树蛙(R .chenfui)、锯腿小树蛙(Philautusodontotarsus) ;蛙科(Ranidae)2种:弹琴水蛙(Hylaranaadenopleura)、沼水蛙(H .guentheri) ;姬蛙科(Microhylidae) 1种:花姬蛙(Microhylapulchra)。特征参数包括:(时域)时长和(频域)基频、主能峰、共振峰等9个。与已有的描述作了对比,发现差别较小,并简单讨论了差别出现的原因。此外,对同域分布且繁殖时间重叠的两个近缘种———宝兴树蛙和经甫树蛙的鸣叫比较发现,二者声音的9个参数除了音节间隔之外,差异都极其显著(P <0 0 0 1 ,α=0 0 5 ,two tailedtest) ,它们的鸣叫有显著差异。 相似文献

Understanding the mechanisms limiting the distributions of organisms is necessary for predicting changes in community composition
along habitat gradients. In many areas of the USA, land originally cleared for agriculture has been undergoing a process of
reforestation, creating a gradient of canopy cover. For small temporary wetlands, this gradient can alter abiotic conditions
and influence the resource base of wetland food webs by affecting litter inputs. As distributions of amphibians and many other
temporary wetland taxa correlate with canopy cover, we experimentally manipulated shade levels and litter types in pond mesocosms
to explore mechanisms limiting species performance in wetlands with canopy cover. Most differences between ponds were mediated
by litter type rather than direct effects of shading. Although all three amphibian species tested are open-canopy specialists,
spring peepers were the only species to show decreased survival in shaded ponds. Pond litter type generally had strong effects
on growth and development rates, with tadpoles of two species in grass litter ponds growing to twice the size of, and metamorphosing
7 days earlier than, those in leaf litter ponds. Contrary to our initial hypothesis, shade level and litter type showed very
few significant interactions. Our results indicate that the effects of shading cannot be considered in isolation of vegetation
changes in pond basins when evaluating the effects of forest succession on temporary pond communities. 相似文献

Activities of acid phosphatase (normal and Co2+-sensitive), superoxide dismutase and catalase and levels of lipid peroxidation, hydrogen peroxide were compared in the tails of tadpoles of stage III, XVIII, XXI and XXIII, respectively, of the Indian Jumping frog Polypedates maculatus. It is noticed that acid phosphatase activity (normal and Co2+-sensitive), and levels of lipid peroxidation and hydrogen peroxide increased during tail regression. There is also an increase in the level of superoxide dismutase and catalase in the regressing tail. A positive correlation between activity of acid phosphatase and lipid peroxidation, hydrogen peroxide and lipid peroxidation, acid phosphatase and hydrogen peroxide was noticed in the tail of tadpoles during different developmental stages, suggesting a critical interaction between reactive oxygen species and lysosomal activity during metamorphosis. 相似文献

Hormonal levels fluctuate during the breeding season in many anurans, but the identity of the hormones that modulate breeding behavior and their effects remain unclear. We tested the influence of a combined treatment of progesterone and prostaglandin on phonotaxis, the key proceptive reproductive behavior of female anurans. First, we found that female gray treefrogs (Hyla versicolor) treated with progesterone and prostaglandin exhibited phonotaxis to synthetic male advertisement signals significantly more often than animals treated with ringers vehicle or uninjected controls. Responsive females had greater levels of plasma progesterone and estradiol compared to both control groups, suggesting that these steroids may be promoting phonotaxis. Second, we found that the selectivity of hormonally-induced phonotaxis in H.versicolor was similar to that observed in freshly captured breeding animals. Females made the same choices between acoustic signals after hormone treatments in tests of frequency, call rate and pulse rate, compared to their responses without treatment immediately after collection from the breeding chorus. The preference for a longer call was, however, significantly weaker after hormonal induction of phonotaxis. Hormonally primed females were also less likely to respond in any test and took longer to respond than did freshly collected females. Consequently, our study shows how progesterone-prostaglandin induced phonotaxis in female treefrogs influences both the quality and quantity of phonotaxis, relative to that exhibited by naturally breeding females. 相似文献

Game theory predicts that investment in spermatogenesis will increase with the risk and intensity of sperm competition. Widespread support for this prediction has come from comparative studies of internal fertilizing species reporting positive associations between testes mass and the probability that females mate with more than one male. Data for external fertilizers have generated conflicting results. We investigated how risk of sperm competition affects testes size in two families of Australian frogs: the Myobatrachidae and the Hylidae. We also examined effects of clutch size, egg size and oviposition location as alternative factors that might influence sperm production. Species were ranked according to probability of group spawning, and hence risk of sperm competition. Controlling for body size and phylogenetic relationships, we demonstrated that within the Myobatrachidae, the risk of sperm competition explained a significant amount of variation in testes mass. Oviposition location had a weak influence, with species ovipositing into foam having smaller testes. No significant effects of clutch size or egg size were detected. In hylids, the relationship between testes mass and risk of sperm competition was positive but not significant, again with no predictable effects related to egg size or number. These data provide an important test of sperm competition theory for externally fertilizing taxa. 相似文献

- Setting up effective conservation strategies requires the precise determination of the targeted species’ distribution area and, if possible, its local abundance. However, detection issues make these objectives complex for most vertebrates. The detection probability is usually <1 and is highly dependent on species phenology and other environmental variables. The aim of this study was to define an optimized survey protocol for the Mediterranean amphibian community, that is, to determine the most favorable periods and the most effective sampling techniques for detecting all species present on a site in a minimum number of field sessions and a minimum amount of prospecting effort. We visited 49 ponds located in the Languedoc region of southern France on four occasions between February and June 2011. Amphibians were detected using three methods: nighttime call count, nighttime visual encounter, and daytime netting. The detection nondetection data obtained was then modeled using site‐occupancy models. The detection probability of amphibians sharply differed between species, the survey method used and the date of the survey. These three covariates also interacted. Thus, a minimum of three visits spread over the breeding season, using a combination of all three survey methods, is needed to reach a 95% detection level for all species in the Mediterranean region. Synthesis and applications: detection nondetection surveys combined to site occupancy modeling approach are powerful methods that can be used to estimate the detection probability and to determine the prospecting effort necessary to assert that a species is absent from a site.

Background
The essential role of glucose transporter 2 (GLUT2) in glucose homeostasis has been extensively studied in mammals; however, little is known about this important protein in lower vertebrates. The freeze-tolerant wood frog (Rana sylvatica), which copiously mobilizes glucose in response to freezing, represents an excellent system for the study of glucose transport in amphibians.Methods
GLUT2 was sequenced from northern and southern phenotypes of R. sylvatica, as well as the freeze-intolerant Rana pipiens. These proteins were expressed and functionally characterized in Xenopus oocytes. Abundance of GLUT2 in tissues was analyzed using immunoblotting techniques.Results
GLUT2s cloned from these anurans encoded proteins with high sequence homologies to known vertebrate GLUT2s and had similar transport properties, although, notably, transport of the glucose analog 3-O-methyl-d-glucose (3-OMG) was strongly inhibited by 150 mM urea. Proteins from all study subjects had similar affinity constants (~ 12 mM) and other kinetic properties; however, GLUT2 abundance in liver was 3.5-fold greater in northern R. sylvatica than in the southern conspecific and R. pipiens.Conclusion
Our results indicate that amphibian GLUT2s are structurally and functionally similar to their homologs in other vertebrates, attesting to the conserved nature of this transport protein. The greater abundance of this protein in the northern phenotype of R. sylvatica suggests that these transporters contribute importantly to freezing survival.General significance
This study provides the first functional characterization of any GLUT isoform from an anuran amphibian and novel insights into the role of these proteins in glucose homeostasis and cryoprotectant mobilization in freeze-tolerant vertebrates. 相似文献18.

Summary Pituicytes of Rana pipiens could be classified into two types, pale and dense, according to their relative densities of cytoplasm and the populations of free ribosomes and cell organelles. An intermediate type of pituicyte was also recognized.Lipid droplet such as are typical in the cytoplasm of mammalian pituicytes, are not in the cytoplasm of either types of frog pituicyte. Both types have long cytoplasmic processes which run among the nerve fibers, and some of them end at the pericapillary space.Nerve endings making synapse-like contacts with the cell bodies or the processes of the pituicyte are frequent. According to the structures and sizes of granules and vesicles in the nerve endings, these endings are classified into one of three types: 1) A, which appears to be a peptidergic neuronal ending containing dense granules 1,200–2,000 Å in diameter and small clear vesicles 300–400 Å in diameter; 2) B, which appear to be monoaminergic endings containing cored vesicles 600–1,000 Å in diameter and small clear vesicles 300–500 Å in diameter; 3) C, which appear to be cholinergic endings containing only small clear vesicles. Type C endings are relatively rare. In the synaptic area the axonal membranes appose those of the pituicytes across a gap of about 200 Å and numerous presynaptic vesicles are clustered or accumulated near the presynaptic membranes.The author wish to express his hearty thanks Professor Dr. A. Spawn predation and larval growth inhibition as mechanisms for niche separation in anurans 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Summary We have investigated interspecific interactions between larvae of the 3 native British anurans, Rana temporaria, Bufo bufo and B. calamita in the field and in the laboratory. Over a 3 year period, predation of B. calamita spawn by the two competitively superior species accounted for only 0.3–3.0% of the total deposited in the dune pools of the study site. However, in ponds with marked niche overlap destruction of natterjack spawn was often 100%. Furthermore, growth rates of B. calamita larvae surviving to hatch were grossly inhibited when large numbers (>0.1 per l) of common frog or toad tadpoles were present. Overall survival to metamorphosis by the competitively inferior species was always negligible in these situations. These results were confirmed by experiments using caged larvae, and by movement of R. temporaria spawn between pools. Growth could be reduced to <25% of uninhibited controls, and time taken to achieve metamorphosis extended by at least 40% in the presence of larger larvae. Laboratory experiments confirmed that inhibitory effects of both R. temporaria and B. bufo larvae on growth by B. calamita tadpoles was demonstrable at tadpole densities comparable with those found in the field. 相似文献

Previous analyses of thermal acclimation of locomotor performance in amphibians have only examined the adult life history
stage and indicate that the locomotor system is unable to undergo acclimatory changes to temperature. In this study, we examined
the ability of tadpoles of the striped marsh frog (Limnodynastes peronii) to acclimate their locomotor system by exposing them to either 10 °C or 24 °C for 6 weeks and testing their burst swimming
performance at 10, 24, and 34 °C. At the test temperature of 10 °C, maximum velocity (Umax) of the 10 °C-acclimated tadpoles was 47% greater and maximum acceleration (Amax) 53% greater than the 24 °C-acclimated animals. At 24 °C, Umax was 16% greater in the 10 °C-acclimation group, while there was no significant difference in Amax or the time taken to reach Umax (T-Umax). At 34 °C, there was no difference between the acclimation groups in either Umax or Amax, however T-Umax was 36% faster in the 24 °C-acclimation group. This is the first study to report an amphibian (larva or adult) possessing
the capacity to compensate for cool temperatures by thermal acclimation of locomotor performance. To determine whether acclimation
period affected the magnitude of the acclimatory response, we also acclimated tadpoles of L. peronii to 10 °C for 8 months and compared their swimming performance with tadpoles acclimated to 10 °C for 6 weeks. At the test
temperatures of 24 °C and 34 °C, Umax and Amax were significantly slower in the tadpoles acclimated to 10 °C for 8 months. At 10 °C, T-Umax was 40% faster in the 8-month group, while there were no differences in either Umax or Amax. Although locomotor performance was enhanced at 10 °C by a longer acclimation period, this was at the expense of performance
at higher temperatures.
