The study of a granary excavated at the medieval site of l’Esquerda has increased our knowledge of agricultural practices and economy. To deepen this knowledge, an experimental project was started with the late P.J. Reynolds (Butser Ancient Farm, England). Since the start of the experiment, 15 years of harvests have been collected from four fields near the archaeological site, which were cultivated with the cereals of medieval times and with a simulation of medieval farming practices. Meteorological conditions are measured by an automatic weather station, and the results are compared with those obtained in England. The research, initially started to provide more insight into crop yields, was extended towards medieval crop storage practices. The granary excavated at l’Esquerda has now been rebuilt using medieval techniques. This has allowed us to answer many questions about medieval architecture, tools and Blacksmith’s technology. Some underground pits were also dug. Experiments in crop storage using both systems are continuing.  相似文献

The Causses of Quercy belong to one of the most important megalithic concentrations in Europe, where the “simple” or “caussenard” dolmens are dominant. The architectural variability, the diversity of territorial settlements and the chronology of the phenomenon remain surprisingly unknown in view of the density of listed monuments. The excavation and architectural study of dolmen I at Pech Laglaire in Gréalou (Lot), in 2021 and 2022, revealed several successive phases of construction, partial destruction and then condemnation of this monument with two megalithic chambers. In the light of these latest discoveries, a re-examination of the available documentation reveals a pattern of architectural evolution, where the primary trapezoidal cairns are truncated and then encompassed in circular cairns, and allows some previous observations to be reinterpreted. The covering of the monuments in their final phase by a circular enclosing cairn seems to be almost systematic and questions the reasons for the condemnation of the sepulchral spaces.  相似文献

The terminal differentiation of the tubular accessory glands in the postecdysial male mealworm beetle, Tenebrio molitor, is characterized by the synthesis of four major groups of proteins as analyzed by one-dimensional SDS-poly-acrylamide gel electrophoresis. On two-dimensional gels (SDS and pI), two of these groups of proteins (A and B) are acidic in nature and have apparent MWs of 17,500 and 18,800, respectively. A third protein group (C) is heterogeneous with respect to isoelectric point (neutral to basic) and has a MW of about 21,900. The fourth class of proteins (D) is divisible into two subgroups on the basis of isoelectric points and has MWs ranging from 26,400 to 29,100. Antibodies have been produced to the soluble portion of mature tubular accessory glands. The preparations of heterologous antisera have been shown to be gland specific following absorption with bean-shaped accessory gland homogenates and ammonium sulfate fractionation. The first appearance and subsequent accumulation during postecdysial maturation of some of these proteins have been determined by crossed immunoelectrophoresis. The A and B proteins are detected immunologically, initially in the late pupa, and their quantities remain unchanged until shortly after adult eclosion. During the 8 days following adult eclosion each of these proteins increases in quantity from ~10 to ~7000 ng. A third immunoreactive protein appears in the 2-day old adult and increases to ~960 ng over the following 6 days. The identity of this antigen is uncertain although it may represent either the C or the D protein. Based on crossed immunoelectrophoresis, it is evident that at least two of these tubular accessory gland antigens appear to contribute to the spermatophore.  相似文献

Shear detection and mechanotransduction by arterial endothelium requires junctional complexes containing PECAM‐1 and VE‐cadherin, as well as firm anchorage to the underlying basement membrane. While considerable information is available for junctional complexes in these processes, gained largely from in vitro studies, little is known about the contribution of the endothelial basement membrane. Using resistance artery explants, we show that the integral endothelial basement membrane component, laminin 511 (laminin α5), is central to shear detection and mechanotransduction and its elimination at this site results in ablation of dilation in response to increased shear stress. Loss of endothelial laminin 511 correlates with reduced cortical stiffness of arterial endothelium in vivo, smaller integrin β1‐positive/vinculin‐positive focal adhesions, and reduced junctional association of actin–myosin II. In vitro assays reveal that β1 integrin‐mediated interaction with laminin 511 results in high strengths of adhesion, which promotes p120 catenin association with VE‐cadherin, stabilizing it at cell junctions and increasing cell–cell adhesion strength. This highlights the importance of endothelial laminin 511 in shear response in the physiologically relevant context of resistance arteries.  相似文献

In a previous study, we examined the physiological responses of male Sprague-Dawley rats over a 4-week exposure to concrete and clay cages. No general toxicological changes were observed in rats exposed to either of the two cage types in summer. Under winter conditions, however, various general toxicological effects were detected in rats housed in concrete cages, although rats housed in clay cages showed no such effects. The infrared thermographic examination indicated that skin temperature in the concrete-housed rats was abnormally low, but not so in the clay-housed rats. We examined proteomic changes in the serum of rats housed in winter in concrete and clay cages using two-dimensional differential in-gel electrophoresis and mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry. Five proteins were identified and quantitatively validated; all were cold stress-induced, acute phase proteins that were either up-regulated (haptoglobin) or down-regulated (alpha-1-inhibitor III, alpha-2u globulin, complement component 3, and vitamin D-binding protein) in the concrete-housed rats. These results suggest that the 4-week exposure to a concrete cage in winter elicited a typical systemic inflammatory reaction (i.e. acute phase response) in the exposed rats.  相似文献

Thorough environmental observation and a series of life cycle consideration have been performed to underpin the development of the environmental criteria of a new EU Eco-label product group following the voluntary and selective European Environmental Award Scheme based on Regulation EC 1980/ 2000. Since April 2002, the European Eco-label is available for the Hard Floor Coverings product group, subsequently also called ‘HFC’. The Eco-label translates environmental awareness on products for indoor and outdoor covering materials such as ceramic and clay tiles, concrete paving units, terrazzo, agglomerated and natural stones into a new market-based environmental policy tool. As a matter of fact, the HFC ecological criteria development has been positively concluded based on a the study of the Italian National Environment Protection Agency (ANPA, Agenzia Nazionale per la Protezione dell’Ambiente) with the technical support of Life Cycle Engineering (Turin, Italy), that had been entrusted with this task by the European Commission, DG Environment. The stakeholders involved in the ‘Ad Hoc Working Group’ activities included European Eco-label Competent Bodies, some of the most important manufacturers, consumers and environmental associations at a European level. In December 2001, after eighteen months of concerted work with all the interested parties in the European Union Eco-label Board (EUEB), the final vote of criteria by Member States enabled the publication of the EU-wide valid criteria and the elaboration of an application pack (user manual) in late March 2002.  相似文献

风景园林信息模型(LIM)需要面向设计实践的体系化应用研究。在此背景下探索硬件、软件、网络、人员相结合的LIM技术应用体系构建方法,以形成有效地应用于设计实践的企业LIM平台。研究采取基于项目的设计研究方法,历经理论研究阶段、系统规划阶段、分步实施阶段,构建了以LIM工作流为核心的风景园林信息模型技术应用体系原型。该体系的构建方法包括开发Autodesk Civil 3D和Revit等关键软件的企业模板,部署基于雾计算的LIM协同设计平台,编制LIM平台使用管理手册等。12项实践项目的验证结果表明:LIM平台是具有实践意义的行业信息化发展技术路径。  相似文献

In the present study, we first examined the expression of T-cadherin in human CNS by northern blot analysis, immunohistochemical staining, and in situ hybridization. Northern blot analysis demonstrated expression of T-cadherin in human adult cerebral cortex, medulla, thalamus, and midbrain. Immunohistochemical staining with a newly generated monoclonal antibody, designated MA-511, revealed strong expression of T-cadherin in neural cell surface membrane and neurites in adult cerebral cortex, medulla oblongata, and nucleus olivaris. Little or no expression of T-cadherin was found in spinal cord. We further examined T-cadherin expression in various developing nervous systems, and found that T-cadherin expression was lower in developing brain than in adult brain. In situ hybridization revealed that neural cells in medulla oblongata and nucleus olivaris, but not in spinal cord, possessed T-cadherin molecules. We transfected T-cadherin-negative TGW and NH-12 neuroblastoma cells with a T-cadherin cDNA-containing expression vector. T-cadherin-expressing neuroblastoma cells lost mitogenic proliferative response to epidermal growth factor. Epidermal growth factor is known to be required for proliferation of neural stem cells. This finding, together with those of the present study, suggests that T-cadherin functions as a negative regulator of neural cell growth.  相似文献

In this paper some examples of the development of communities of microorganisms and plants on historic buildings and monuments are shown. When the building stones differ from the surrounding natural substrata, an increase in the biological diversity of the area is produced. In some cases, monuments can come to constitute a true refuge for a few species when the natural habitat is threatened. It is suggested that biological diversity, when it does not represent a threat for the cultural heritage, should be considered worthy of preservation.  相似文献
