《Comptes Rendus Palevol》2014,13(4):235-258
The present work is based on semi-quantitative study carried on detailed sampling (samples are spaced by 5, 10 and 15 cm close to the boundary) of an essentially continuous and expanded section crossing the Cretaceous–Paleogene (K/Pg) boundary in Iran. By this work, we attempt to detail biostratigraphy based on planktonic foraminifera biozones and correlate biozones and subzones with dinocyst events. The entire Cretaceous–Paleogene interval contains rich, diversified and well-preserved planktonic foraminifera and dinoflagellate cyst assemblages. Four planktonic foraminiferal biozones have been recognized across the Cretaceous–Paleogene transition (K/Pg): Abathomphalus mayaroensis Biozone including Plummerita hantkeninoides Subzone from the Late Maastrichtian and Guembelitria cretacea (including Hedbergella holmdelensis and Parvularugoglobigerina longiapertura subzones), Parvularugoglobigerina eugubina Biozone and Parasubbotina pseudobulloides Biozone belonging to the Early Danian. These biozones have been correlated with four dinocyst biozones: the Manumiella seelandica Biozone belonging to the Late Maastrichtian and the Alisocysta reticulata, Senoniasphaera inornata and Damassadinium californicum biozones from the Early Danian. At this section, like at the El Kef section (GSSP for the K/Pg) and the auxiliary sections, an Ir anomaly is detected indicating the K/Pg boundary. This geochemical anomaly coincides also with mass extinctions of planktonic foraminifera species. The extinct species are in particular the large, complex tropical and subtropical taxa dwelling in subsurface and lower photic water. The mass extinctions at the Izeh section occurred over a succinct period of time similar to the K/Pg type section at El Kef (Tunisia). These sudden mass extinctions indicate a catastrophic pattern event occurring at the Maastrichtian/Danian boundary. In contrast the organic-walled dinocysts were less affected by the mass extinction and most species crossed the K/Pg boundary without showing mass and sudden extinctions. Nevertheless, they showed changes in their assemblages’ structure beyond the K/Pg boundary. Especially, Manumiella seelandica and M. druggii, typical species of Antarctic Maastrichtian dinocysts assemblages, occur in coeval deposits at the Izeh section; they persist through the Lower Danian and, like in Tunisia (e.g., El Kef section, Ellès section) show an obvious increase in relative abundance.  相似文献

Thelodont scales from the Middle Llandovery–lowermost Lochkovian of southern Britain are described with three new taxa, Loganellia? unispinata sp. nov., Nethertonodus prodigialis gen. et sp. nov. and Paralogania tarranti sp. nov. established, and Paralogania kaarmisensis Märss identified for the first time from Britain. Thelodonts are rare in the Llandovery and Wenlock series where predominantly Loganellia cf. aldridgei Turner, Loganellia scotica (Traquair) and Thelodus sp. are accompanied by coniform conodonts Panderodus Ethington, Decoriconus Cooper and Dapsilodus obliquicostatus (Branson and Mehl). The majority of the material has been recovered from the Ludlow and P?ídolí series. Thelodus laevis (Pander) and Paralogania martinssoni (Gross) occur in the lower Gorstian. Paralogania kaarmisensis and Phlebolepis elegans Pander come from the Upper Gorstian–Lower Ludfordian and are associated with the zonal conodont Polygnathoides siluricus Branson and Mehl in the upper Gorstian. Thelodus parvidens Agassiz and T. trilobatus Hoppe dominate in the Upper Ludfordian in association with the rarer zonal conodonts Ozarkodina snajdri (Walliser), O. crispa (Walliser) and O. remscheidensis eosteinhornensis (Walliser). The basal P?ídolí Series indicates a change to a thelodont fauna dominated by Paralogania ludlowiensis (Gross) and including Nethertonodus prodigialis. Higher in the P?ídolí Series, a succession in faunas includes Katoporodus cf. timanicus (Karataju¯te‐Talimaa), Paralogania tarranti, Loganellia? unispinata and Goniporus alatus (Gross). In the highest P?ídolí beds Paralogania kummerowi (Gross) and Loganellia cuneata (Gross) can be traced before the incoming of the lowermost Devonian taxon Turinia pagei (Powrie) along with Nikolivia gutta Karataju¯te‐Talimaa. Correlations with the Baltic are suggested from the Lower Ludlow, Upper Silurian, up to the Lower Lochkovian, Lower Devonian.

Based on a systematic study of Tremadocian graptolites from the Early Ordovician Yehli Formation at Dayangcha, Baishan of Jilin, NE China, a revised graptolite zonation is proposed for the Tremadocian rocks in the area. In ascending order, the graptolite zones include theRhabdinopora flabelliformis parabola Zone, theAnisograptus matanensis Zone, thePsigraptus jacksoni Zone and theAorograptus victoriae Zone. The first three zones are discussed with their definitions and durations clarified, whereas the last zone is introduced for the first time as a replacement of the formerAdelograptus-Clonograptus Zone. The entire Yehli Formation is considered to be older than the late Tremadocian Hunneberg Substage of Scandinavia, the latter being represented by the carbonate-dominated basal part of the overlying Liangchiashan Formation where no graptolites have so far been discovered. The Tremadocian succession in the Dayangcha area is regarded as being representative of the North China (Sino-Korea) Palaeoplate, and a correlation of the Tremadocian graptolite sequence with those of other continents is suggested. Nine species belonging toDendrograptus, Aspidograptus, Callograptus andAirograptus of the family Dendroidae, and eight species ofPsigraptus, Adelograptus, Aorograptus andKiaerograptus of the family Anisograptidae are described and some are revised in the present paper. Among the important revisions are the reconstructed proximal development ofPsigraptus jacksoni based on partially three-dimensional specimens from the area, and the complex thecal structures ofAspidograptus.   相似文献
