The present experiments attempt to find the meridian phenomenon and how the needle feeling propagates along the given meridian channels. The neurobiological mechanisms of the meridian were studied with neuroelectrical recording from the motor neurons and CB-HRP retrograde histochemistry technique in both rats and cats. The results demonstrated that most, but not all, of alpha motor neurons supplying a muscle group of a given meridian were selectively activated by afferent inputs originating not only from homonymous or heterogeneous, but synergistic muscle, but also from the skin nerve overlying the muscle group of the homonymous meridian. However, the afferent inputs from the heterogeneous meridian have very weak or no effect. On the other hand, the labeled motor neurons supplying a given meridian muscles form a discrete longitudinal column with a definite bound in the lateral ventral horn. Summary Multinucleate epithelial cells occur in the thymus of C3H mice. They are poorly differentiated and scarce, but are more numerous in the medulla than in the cortex. Their increase in number with age is particularly significant between the first and the third months especially for cells with a large number of nuclei, and may be related to thymic involution.Viral particles of type C, similar to those described in murine leukemias, are found in mono- and multinucleate medullary epithelial cells.Research supported by grant 10.013 of the Fonds de la Recherche Fondamentale Collective (Brussels)  相似文献

Summary Zoospore formation in sporangia ofPhytophthora infestans, the causal agent of potatoes downy mildew disease, was influenced by reduction of oxygen tension, by application of a respiratory poison (KCN), and by an inhibitor of cytokinesis (cytochalasine B). As demonstrated by different methods of light microscopy, in all three cases the percentage of morphologically abnormal, multinucleate, multiflagellate cells increased. High concentrations of KCN caused a complete inhibition of zoospore formation. These effects are interpreted as disorders of the process of cytokinesis during zoosporogenesis.  相似文献

Delocalization of charges thorough DNA occurs due to the natural and continuous movements of molecule which stimulates the charge transfer through the molecule. A model is presented showing that the mechanism of electrical conduction occurs mainly by thermally-activated drift motion of holes under control of the localized carriers; where electrons are localized in the conduction band. These localized (stationary-trapped) electrons control the movements of the positive charges and do not play an effective role in the electrical conduction itself. It is found that the localized charge-carriers in the bands have characteristic relaxation times at 5×10(^-2)s, 1.94×10(^-4)s, 5×10(^-7)s, and 2×10(^-11)s respectively which are corresponding to four intrinsic thermal activation energies 0.56eV, 0.33eV, 0.24eV, and 0.05eV respectively. The ac-conductivity of some published data are well fitted with the presented model and the total charge density in DNA molecule is calculated to be n=1.88×10(^19)cm(^-3) at 300K which is corresponding to a linear electron density n=8.66×10(^3)cm(^-1) at 300K. The model shed light on the role of transfer and/or localization of charges through DNA which has multiple applications in medical, nano-technical, bio-sensing and different domains. So, repair DNA by adjusting the charge transport through the molecule is future challenges to new medical applications.  相似文献

In its basic form, the Will Rogers phenomenon takes place when an increase in the average value of each of two sets is achieved by moving an element from one set to another. This leads to the conclusion that there has been an improvement, when in fact essentially nothing has changed. Extended versions of this phenomenon can occur in epidemiological studies, rendering their results unreliable. After describing epidemiological and clinical studies that have been affected by the Will Rogers phenomenon, this paper presents a simple method to correct for it. The method involves introducing a transition matrix between the two sets and taking probability weighted expectations. Two real-world biometrical examples, based on migration economics and breast cancer epidemiology, are given and improvements against a naïve analysis are demonstrated. In the cancer epidemiology example, we take account of estimation uncertainty. We also discuss briefly some limitations associated with our method.  相似文献
