The correct identification of Biomphalaria oligoza, B. orbignyi and B. peregrina species is difficult due to the morphological similarities among them. B. peregrina is widely distributed in South America and is considered a potential intermediate host of Schistosoma mansoni. We have reported the use of the polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis of the internal transcribed spacer region of the ribosomal DNA for the molecular identification of these snails. The snails were obtained from different localities of Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. The restriction patterns obtained with MvaI enzyme presented the best profile to identify the three species. The profiles obtained with all enzymes were used to estimate genetic similarities among B. oligoza, B. peregrina and B. orbignyi. This is also the first report of B. orbignyi in Uruguay.  相似文献

The endogenous development of Eimeria minasensis was studied in 9 coccidia-free goat kids inoculated with 10(5) sporulated oocysts/kg body weight. Kids were killed 4, 7 (2 animals), 10, 13, 16, 18, 19, and 22 days after inoculation (DAI). In tissue sections of the intestines stained with hematoxylin and eosin and examined by light microscopy, 2 generations of meronts, gamonts, gametes, and oocysts were found. The first generation of meronts developed in cells deep in the lamina propria of the jejunum and ileum. Mature giant meronts (299.4x243.8 microm) found 16 DAI were visible to the naked eye and contained a large number of crescent-shaped merozoites. The second generation of meronts developed in the epithelial cells of crypts of the ileum and above the host cell nuclei. Mature meronts (11.5x10.1 microm) with 18-28 comma-shaped merozoites were first seen 16 DAI. Gametogenesis took place in epithelial cells of the crypts and villi of the terminal part of the ileum, cecum, and colon. Macrogametes (27.8x17.6 microm), mature microgamonts (21.3x17.0 microm), microgametes, and oocysts (30.5x19.4 microm) were found 19 DAI. Sexual stages were below the host cell nucleus.  相似文献

The ibuprofen complex of diruthenium(II,III) was prepared and characterized by electronic (UV-Vis) and vibrational (FTIR) spectroscopies and thermogravimetry. The copper(II)-ibuprofenato complex was prepared by a different route from that described in the literature. Both complexes were tested in vivo for anti-inflammatory activity. Oral administration of the two complexes inhibited development of carrageenin-induced edema in rats, this inhibition being similar to that observed for oral administration of the parent drug (free ibuprofen). However, gastric irritation was lower as compared to that of ibuprofen. Diruthenium-ibuprofenato exhibited a protective effect at light intensity ulceration while the copper-ibuprofenato complex was more effective in the protection of severe intensity ulceration.  相似文献

The photooxidation of calf-thymus DNA has been investigated in the presence of a supramolecular tetraruthenated zincporphyrin (ZnTRP) sensitizer. A strong interaction of ZnTRP with DNA has been observed, exhibiting a gradual transition from a non-specific electrostatic binding mode to a more specific one at high DNA concentrations. Formation of O2(1delta(g)) has been detected from its near-infrared emission, after the excitation of ZnTRP in dioxygen-containing solutions. In the presence of DNA and dioxygen, ZnTRP promotes efficient photocatalytic oxidation of the 2'-deoxyguanosine sites, via their direct reaction with O2(1delta(g)), as in a previous work on the ZnTRP-photoinduced oxidation of the free nucleosides.  相似文献

The oxidative susceptibility of plasma obtained from rats after intragastric administration of quercetin was studied to know whether or not quercetin acts as an in vivo antioxidant after metabolic conversion. Quercetin was raised in the rat blood plasma essentially as glucuronide and/or sulfate conjugates. The plasma obtained from rats after quercetin administration was more resistant against copper sulfate-induced lipid peroxidation than the control plasma on the basis of the accumulation of cholesteryl ester hydroperoxides and the consumption of α-tocopherol. The results strongly suggest that some conjugated metabolites of quercetin act as effective antioxidants when plasma is subject to metal ion-induced lipid peroxidation.  相似文献

The osmotic and ion-specific components of salt-induced inhibition of leaf expansion growth were investigated in beans grown from 12 h to several days in either NaCl-containing solution cultures, an isosmotic concentrated macronutrient solution, or a vermiculite–compost mixture with low Na+ but high Cl availability. Inhibition of leaf expansion and leaf ABA increase was more intense in the NaCl than in the isosmotic macronutrient treatment. Root Na+ was highly correlated to inhibition of leaf expansion and leaf or xylem sap ABA. When Na+ was sequestered in soil, salinized plants showed no reduction in leaf expansion or ABA increase, regardless of the presence of high leaf Cl concentrations. Stomatal conductance exhibited an exponential relationship with the reciprocal value of xylem sap ABA. Our results indicate that an ion-specific effect caused by Na+ in roots may account for an ABA-mediated reponse of both stomatal closure and leaf expansion inhibition.  相似文献

Cadmium uptake by Spirulina maxima cells was more pronounced in living than in dead cells, with a maximum recovery of 47.63mg Cd/g cells for living cells and 37.00mg Cd/g cells for inactivated cells. When in the medium at 1.2mg/l, cadmium affected cell growth and diminished cell productivity. Cadmium was detected in the outer and inner faces of the external membrane, essentially in the lipid layer.  相似文献

l-DOPA is present in many molluscan periostraca and is thought to play an important role in the shell protein sclerotization mechanism. We analyzed l-DOPA content in organic membranes produced by the oyster (Crassostrea gigas) mantle as a reaction against shell damage, such as induced by Polydora sp. infestation, an artificial perforation of the shell, and in normal oysters mantle. When oysters are secreting the protective organic membrane against a shell perforation, the area of mantle close to the repairing region had a greater l-DOPA content than the remaining mantle. Mantle border as a whole had the same l-DOPA content as the central mantle. Nevertheless there is a variation pattern in mantle border l-DOPA content, the area near the umbo having a higher content and decreasing towards the frontal region. l-DOPA content in younger oysters was greater than that in older oysters. The results of perforation experiment suggest a good correlation between organic membrane synthesis and l-DOPA mantle border content. Concerning normal oysters, a higher l-DOPA content in mantle border than in central mantle would be expected but we couldn’t detect any differences. From all the results there is some evidence that mantle l-DOPA is related to other functions in addition to participating in the sclerotization mechanism.  相似文献

Using SDS-PAGE gels we observed the induced synthesis of a protein with a molecular mass of 80 kDa when cells of strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae were subjected to dehydration. Physiological analysis showed that this protein is not present during growth on glucose but was found in derepressed cells from stationary phase. Furthermore, its synthesis was induced when cells were grown on medium containing α-methyl-glucoside as carbon source. However, the 80 kDa protein was not found in cells of mutants unable to transport trehalose. This protein was localized in the cytoplasmic membrane and showed trehalose-binding activity, determined by its partial purification on a trehalose–Sepharose 6B affinity column. The possible involvement of the 80 kDa protein with the trehalose transport system is discussed.  相似文献
