To reveal phylogeographic features of sable (Martes zibellina) in the southeast part of its range, we analyzed variability of the mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) cytochrome b gene, tRNA (Pro), tRNA (Thr) and control region (D-loop) sequences from 78 specimens in populations of the Russian Far East, northeast China, and Mongolia. Our results revealed the presence of 49 different haplotypes split into two major phylogenetic groups—clades A and B, the latter separated into two clades, B1 and B2. Comparative analysis of D-loop haplotypes in populations originating from the southeast (Russian Far East, China and Mongolia) and the west (northern Urals) portions of sable range indicated that all three mtDNA clades were present in different regional groups. However, highest diversity of clade B1 in northeast China and its nearly complete absence from the Urals suggest that the southeast sable range, being a refuge during Pleistocene glacial periods, can be considered the center of genetic diversification and possibly origin of this species. All divergence estimates fall within the Pleistocene suggesting that Quarternary glaciations played an important role in phylogeographic differentiation of sable. 相似文献

The lamina, main vein and peduncle anatomical properties of Centaurea sadleriana Janka plants from two populations, were examined using light and scanning electron microscopy. The indumentum was comprised of glandular and non-glandular trichomes of two types. The leaves were amphistomatic, isolateral, with strongly developed palisade tissue. Secretory ducts were observed along the phloem or sclerenchyma of large vascular bundles. Collenchyma alternated with chlorenchyma in the main vein and peduncle. Large groups of strongly lignified sclerenchyma were present along the phloem of peduncle vascular bundles. These features, together with thickened walls of epidermal cells and cuticle, numerous trichomes and thick-walled parenchyma in the perimedullar zone, were perceived as a xeromorphic peduncle structural adaptation. Non-enzymatic antioxidant compounds of phenolic origin were detected in small amounts and their respective content was higher in leaves compared to inflorescences. Compounds of phenolic orgin showed positive correlation with total potenial of antioxidant activity indicated by the DPPH assay. Greater total quantity of polyphenols and tannins was detected in leaves of plants from Zobnatica locality, while leaves of plants from Rimski Sanac were characterized by higher content of total flavonoids and proantocyanidins. Phytochemical analysis showed that dominant secondary biomolecules in inflorescences were phenolic pigments including anthocyanins and leucoanthocyanins, and free quinones in leaves. 相似文献

Although Benzo[a]Pyrene (BaP) released to soils tends to bind very strongly to soil particles, however, small amounts have been shown to leach into groundwaters. This polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon is stable and can stay (and travel) in the environment for an extended period of time. Release of BaP into the environment therefore causes concern at a global environmental level. In this paper we evaluated the effect of BaP on the cell growth of Escherichia coli and Enterococcus faecalis in aerobic conditions. Irradiation of BaP increased its antibacterial activity which suggests that this process produced a singlet oxygen. This way would be able to speed up the processes of photochemical degradation of BaP. 相似文献

The introduced, invasive species Conyza canadensis L. covers large areas of the sandy levees next to the River Tamiš (Serbia), forming dense microcomplexes and dominating the other herbaceous species in the ruderal phytocoenosis with its aboveground mass and abundance. In addition to this species, a further 28 plant species were found, but the abundance and cover of these was significantly lower. The allelopathic influence of the species C. canadensis was investigated through analyzing the total phenolics and phenolic acids, as the main allelochemicals, in dead and vegetative parts and the soil beneath them. Seed germination and seedling growth of the target plants (Dactylis glomerata L. and Trifolium repens L.), which grow in this community, served as a measure of the inhibitory capacity of this species. It was established that the content of total phenolics and phenolic acids (p-coumaric, ferulic, p-hydroxybenzoic, vanillic and syringic) varies, following the order: vegetative plant parts > dead plant parts > sandy soil under C. canadensis. Water leachate and soils inhibited seed germination and seedling growth of the test plants to varying degrees, following the order: vegetative parts > dead parts > sandy soil, which is directly related to the content of total phenolics and phenolic acids in them. It was concluded that the pioneer species C. canadensis plays a decisive role in the first phases of vegetation succession and the process of soil formation on the barren sandy levees, owing to the synthesis of secondary phenolic metabolites. 相似文献

The influence of cholesterol and β-sitosterol on egg yolk phosphatidylcholine (EYPC) bilayers is compared. Different interactions of these sterols with EYPC bilayers were observed using X-ray diffraction. Cholesterol was miscible with EYPC in the studied concentration range (0-50 mol%), but crystallization of β-sitosterol in EYPC bilayers was observed at X ≥ 41 mol% as detected by X-ray diffraction. Moreover, the repeat distance (d) of the lamellar phase was similar upon addition of the two sterols up to mole fraction 17%, while for X ≥ 17 mol% it became higher in the presence of β-sitosterol compared to cholesterol. SANS data on suspensions of unilamellar vesicles showed that both cholesterol and β-sitosterol similarly increase the EYPC bilayer thickness. Cholesterol in amounts above 33 mol% decreased the interlamellar water layer thickness, probably due to "stiffening" of the bilayer. This effect was not manifested by β-sitosterol, in particular due to the lower solubility of β-sitosterol in EYPC bilayers. Applying the formalism of partial molecular areas, it is shown that the condensing effect of both sterols on the EYPC area at the lipid-water interface is small, if any. The parameters of ESR spectra of spin labels localized in different regions of the EYPC bilayer did not reveal any differences between the effects of cholesterol and β-sitosterol in the range of full miscibility. 相似文献

Common inbred strains of the laboratory rat can be divided into four different mitochondrial DNA haplotype groups represented by the SHR, BN, LEW, and F344 strains. In the current study, we investigated the metabolic and hemodynamic effects of the SHR vs. LEW mitochondrial genomes by comparing the SHR to a new SHR conplastic strain, SHR-mt(LEW); these strains are genetically identical except for their mitochondrial genomes. Complete mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) sequence analysis comparing the SHR and LEW strains revealed gene variants encoding amino acid substitutions limited to a single mitochondrial enzyme complex, NADH dehydrogenase (complex I), affecting subunits 2, 4, and 5. Two of the variants in the mt-Nd4 subunit gene are located close to variants known to be associated with exercise intolerance and diabetes mellitus in humans. No variants were found in tRNA or rRNA genes. These variants in mt-Nd2, mt-Nd4, and mt-Nd5 in the SHR-mt(LEW) conplastic strain were linked to reductions in oxidative and nonoxidative glucose metabolism in skeletal muscle. In addition, SHR-mt(LEW) conplastic rats showed increased serum nonesterified fatty acid levels and resistance to insulin stimulated incorporation of glucose into adipose tissue lipids. These results provide evidence that inherited variation in mitochondrial genes encoding respiratory chain complex I subunits, in the absence of variation in the nuclear genome and other confounding factors, can influence glucose and lipid metabolism when expressed on the nuclear genetic background of the SHR strain. 相似文献
