The authors studied the possibility of 14C-phospholipid transplacental penetration after 15C-phospholipid injection into rats at the 20th day of pregnancy. The preparation of 14C-phospholipids (total phospholipids) was isolated by thin-layer chromatography from the liver of rats injected with 2-14C-sodium acetate. One hour after its injection into the rat, 14C-phospholipids were detectable in total phospholipids of the pulmonary and cerebral fetal tissues. It was discovered that specific radioactivity of phospholipids contained by these tissues was 2--5 times higher when 14C-phospholipids were injected subcutaneously as compared with intramuscular injection. It is concluded that exogenous phospholipids entrapped in the mother's circulation penetrate the placental barrier of the fetus and the blood-brain barrier of the mature fetus, being consumed by different fetal tissues for forming membrane structures of the fetal tissues.  相似文献

A marked increase in the rate of oxagen consumption and heat production, measured by the direct method, is observed in the chick embryogenesis. The intensity of respiration and heat production of the embryos decreases as the development proceeds. During development the data obtained by direct and indirect calorimetry diverge. This divergence, referred to as psi u-function, gradually decreases by the moment of hatching. Differences in the value of heat production and psi u-function were found in crosses of meat and egg directions, related to differences in the growth rate and productivity of adult fowl.  相似文献

The level of within- and among-population variation of larch inhabiting the range of Larix olgensis A. Henry in Primorye was estimated on the basis of 440 RAPD loci identified by means of 12 random primers. In ten population examined, the proportion of polymorphic loci was 35-60%, the average expected heterozygosity varied from 0.1340 to 2169, and the average gene flow estimate was 1.38. According to Fisher's test for heterogeneity, the pairwise differences of the fragment frequencies between the populations were statistically significant. The subdivision index G(ST) = 0.2663 indicated that the interpopulation variation component accounted for approximately 27% of the total variation. Coefficients of Nei's genetic distance between the populations varied from 0.0137 to 0.0934. Most of the samples with high support clustered according to the geographic positions relative to one another within the range. These results suggest that the populations examined are characterized by high genetic variation, like the larch populations of Siberia and the Russian Far East studied earlier, but, in contrast to the latter, exhibit higher among-population variability.  相似文献

A molecular genetic study of Far Eastern species of the family Araliaceae by means of RAPD analysis was conducted. Using 21 primers we assessed variability at 595 loci. Based on matrices of genetic distances D, dendrograms of genetic relationships among eleven species of this family were constructed. Our results suggest that Acanthopanax sessiliflorus and Eleutherococcus senticosus belong to different genera, Aralia cordata andA. continentalis are different species, and A. elata and A. mandshurica probably cannot be regarded as distinct species. Genetic similarity of Far Eastern A. cordata and American A. hispida is shown.  相似文献

An approach to describe the emergence of dynamics of polymerization/depolymerization of some spatially distributed prebiological structures has been analyzed, and two phases of the development of the system have been identified. In the first phase, polymerization of organic monomers occurs under the influence of external factors, and in the second one depolymerization takes place. Both processes are accompanied by “diffusive mixing” of reaction products. The dynamic equations of the system are presented. Numerical examination of the space nonuniform solution of model equations has shown that, in conditions of low stability of uniform space distribution, these solutions resolve into a number of discrete peaks of nonzero density, which are isolated from each other by free space. Such nonuniform distributions are stable when close to the bifurcation point; yet in other conditions, they can lose their stability, which entails a more pronounced nonuniformity of space dynamics. Thus, interaction of polymerization/depolymerization processes results in chaotic self-organization and leads to origination of complex and inhomogeneous (patchy) spatial structures. These structures in physical space can reflect the emergence of the spatial nonuniformity in prebiological associations, while in the distributive space of characters they can correspond to the initial steps of emergence of the first discrete domains fixed in biological evolution.  相似文献

The fetal dentate fascia of Wistar rats on the 20th day of gestation was heterotopically grafted into the somatosensory neocortex of adult rats. Granule cells of a graft projected their axons (mossy fibers) to the host brain and established synaptic contacts with inappropriate targets. The organization of ectopic mossy fiber synapses was studied by electron microscopy. It was shown that ectopic synapses reproduce the structural determinants of hippocampal giant synapses and induce a subcellular reorganization of postsynaptic neocortex dendrites. Using morphometric analysis, a significant increase was found in the number of discrete puncta adherentia junctions and their total length in ectopic synapses as compared with the control group. The data obtained indicate that puncta adherentia contacts participate in the structural and chemical adaptation of neuronal targets to alien axons growing from transplants.  相似文献

Many species have Holarctic distributions that extend across Europe, Asia and North America. Most genetics research on these species has examined only mitochondrial (mt) DNA, which has revealed wide variance in divergence between Old World (OW) and New World (NW) populations, ranging from shallow, unstructured genealogies to deeply divergent lineages. In this study, we sequenced 20 nuclear introns to test for concordant patterns of OW–NW differentiation between mtDNA and nuclear (nu) DNA for six lineages of Holarctic ducks (genus Anas). Genetic differentiation for both marker types varied widely among these lineages (idiosyncratic population histories), but mtDNA and nuDNA divergence within lineages was not significantly correlated. Moreover, compared with the association between mtDNA and nuDNA divergence observed among different species, OW–NW nuDNA differentiation was generally lower than mtDNA divergence, at least for lineages with deeply divergent mtDNA. Furthermore, coalescent estimates indicated significantly higher rates of gene flow for nuDNA than mtDNA for four of the six lineages. Thus, Holarctic ducks show prominent mito‐nuclear discord between OW and NW populations, and we reject differences in sorting rates as the sole cause of the within‐species discord. Male‐mediated intercontinental gene flow is likely a leading contributor to this discord, although selection could also cause increased mtDNA divergence relative to weak nuDNA differentiation. The population genetics of these ducks contribute to growing evidence that mtDNA can be an unreliable indicator of stage of speciation and that more holistic approaches are needed for species delimitation.  相似文献

Background

The role of pulmonary hypertension as a cause of mortality in sickle cell disease (SCD) is controversial.

Methods and Results

We evaluated the relationship between an elevated estimated pulmonary artery systolic pressure and mortality in patients with SCD. We followed patients from the walk-PHaSST screening cohort for a median of 29 months. A tricuspid regurgitation velocity (TRV)≥3.0 m/s cuttof, which has a 67–75% positive predictive value for mean pulmonary artery pressure ≥25 mm Hg was used. Among 572 subjects, 11.2% had TRV≥3.0 m/sec. Among 582 with a measured NT-proBNP, 24.1% had values ≥160 pg/mL. Of 22 deaths during follow-up, 50% had a TRV≥3.0 m/sec. At 24 months the cumulative survival was 83% with TRV≥3.0 m/sec and 98% with TRV<3.0 m/sec (p<0.0001). The hazard ratios for death were 11.1 (95% CI 4.1–30.1; p<0.0001) for TRV≥3.0 m/sec, 4.6 (1.8–11.3; p = 0.001) for NT-proBNP≥160 pg/mL, and 14.9 (5.5–39.9; p<0.0001) for both TRV≥3.0 m/sec and NT-proBNP≥160 pg/mL. Age >47 years, male gender, chronic transfusions, WHO class III–IV, increased hemolytic markers, ferritin and creatinine were also associated with increased risk of death.

Conclusions

A TRV≥3.0 m/sec occurs in approximately 10% of individuals and has the highest risk for death of any measured variable.

The dentate fascia of the hippocampal formation isolated from 20-day-old Wistar rat fetuses was subjected to heterotopic transplantation into the somatosensory area of the neocortex of adult rats of the same strain. Five months after surgery, neurotransplantates, together with neighboring area of the neocortex, were studied using light and electron microscopy. We carried out a detailed study of the ultrastructure of the ectopic synaptic endings formed by the axons of granular neurons of the dentate fascia (mossy fibers) with neurons of the neocortex unusual for them in a normal state. Ultrastructural analysis revealed that most ectopic synaptic endings produce its determinant morphological features: giant sizes of presynaptic knobs, active zones with branched dendritic spines, and adherens junctions with the surface of dendrites. The data indicate that the mossy fibers growing from neurotransplantates induce structural and chemical reorganization of dendrites of the neocortex using transmembrane adherens junctions, such as puncta adherentia junctions. This results in the differentiation of active zones and development of dendritic spines typical for giant synaptic endings that are invaginated into presynaptic endings. Thus, the ability of neurons of the dentate fascia to form aberrant synaptic connections at transplantation results from the inductive synaptogenic properties of mossy fibers.  相似文献
