Streltzoviella insularis (Staudinger) is an important tree‐boring pest, that primarily damages Sophora japonica (Linnaeus) and Ginkgo biloba (Linnaeus), as well as other common species, at great economic cost to the urban landscape construction industry in China. In the present study, the alimentary canal morphology of S. insularis was observed using light microscopy, and its ultrastructure was investigated by scanning and transmission electron microscopy. The foregut of S. insularis can be divided into the pharynx, esophagus, crop, proventriculus, and cardiac valve. The well‐developed crop forms the longest section of the foregut. It is able to store large amounts of food and is lined with a monolayer of epithelial cells. Many sclerotized microspines occur on the surface of the anterior intima and there are dense spines on the posterior intima of the proventriculus. Epithelial cells of the midgut include columnar cells, goblet cells, and regenerative cells, but endocrine cells are absent. The hindgut consists of the pyloric valve, ileum, and rectum. There is no clear distinction between the ileum and colon. The intima surface of the pyloric valve carries many microspines, whereas the intestinal wall of the rectum is thin with well‐developed rectal pads. The rectal epithelial cells form a squamous monolayer. A cryptonephric excretory system is located in the hindgut. There are six spiral Malpighian tubules, in which a cellular layer on a basement membrane encloses a lumen. These results will provide the basis for further studies of the structure and function in S. insularis larvae.  相似文献

Abstract. Due to the complexity of coastal barrier vegetation, it is useful to apply a functional-type approach to assess the response of barrier island vegetation to climate change. In this paper, a simple clustering analysis is applied to a group of 19 plant associations, based on six plant attributes and six environmental constraints. This analysis results in the suggestion that the main division of the vegetation types at Virginia Coast Reserve is between herbaceous and woody types, which differs from the existing classification which recognizes three groups: xeric-mesic herbaceous, woody and hydric-halophytic herbaceous. Considerations about grouping plant functional types are also addressed in this paper. At a global scale, inclusion of barrier plant functional types may not be so important for the climate-change response of vegetation, but it may be necessary to consider these important systems for spatially explicit modelling of landscape responses.  相似文献

Nitric oxide (NO) dysfunction has been found to be an important factor in both the development and progression of diabetic complications due to its many roles in the vascular system. Multifunctional compounds with hypoglycemic and endothelial protective action will be promising agents for the treatment of diabetes and its complications. In this study, a series of novel NO-donating sitagliptin derivatives and relevant metabolites were synthesized and evaluated as potential multifunctional hypoglycemic agents. All of synthetic compounds shown remarkable inhibitory activity against dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV) in vitro and demonstrated excellent hypoglycemic activities in diabetic mice, similar to the activity of sitagliptin, and compounds T1-T4 shown different extents of NO-releasing abilities and potent antioxidant abilities in vivo. By screening in DPP-4, compound T4 was recognized as a potent DPP-4 inhibitor with the IC50 value of 0.060?μM. Docking study revealed compound T4 has a favorable binding mode. Furthermore, compounds T1-T4 exhibited different extents of NO-releasing abilities and excellent anti-platelet aggregation in vitro. The overall results suggested that T4 could help to the amelioration of endothelial dysfunction by reducing blood glucose, lessening oxidative stress and raising NO levels as well as inhibiting platelet aggregation. Based on this research, compound T4 deserves further investigation as potential new multifunctional anti-diabetic agent with antioxidant, anti-platelet aggregation and endothelial protective properties.  相似文献

A type of pyridinium-decorated 1,4-pentadien-3-one derivatives possessing flexible alkyls were designed and synthesized by integrating the key scaffolds of pyridinium cations and 1,4-pentadien-3-one skeleton in a single molecular architecture. Antimicrobial bioassays indicated that some of the target molecules exerted considerable bioactivities against six phytopathogenic strains, especially for Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae, the minimal EC50 value can reach to 0.504?µg/mL. A plausible action mechanism for this kind of compounds was proposed and confirmed by employing fluorescent spectroscopy, fluorescence microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. We anticipated that this finding can promote high-efficient lead compounds discovery in the research of antimicrobial chemotherapy.  相似文献
