Studies are reported on release of triglycerides during perfusion of livers of male Sprague-Dawley rats fed a fat-free diet or diets containing hydrogenated coconut oil or corn oil. Perfusions were carried out with Krebs-Ringer bicarbonate buffer containing albumin with and without infusion of oleate or linoleate. Infusion with sodium oleate or linoleate caused an accumulation of triglycerides in the livers of the corn oil-fed animals and stimulated the release of triglycerides into the perfusing medium. In similar experiments with essential fatty acid-deficient animals, which were fed fat-free diets or diets containing hydrogenated coconut oil, there was no increase in secretion of triglycerides into the perfusate, and the amount of triglyceride which accumulated in the liver was greater than in the livers of the control (corn oil-fed) animals. Tracer experiments with oleate-1-(14)C or linoleate-1-(14)C also showed that with livers of essential fatty acid-deficient animals, secretion of triglyceride into the perfusate was not stimulated by infusion of fatty acids into the perfusing medium. It is concluded that impairment of the secretion of triglycerides is a factor in the accumulation of fat in the livers of essential fatty acid-deficient animals.  相似文献

We saw a total of 4 episodes of the recurrence of subacute thyroiditis in 3 patients out of 222. The recurrent episodes were similar to the first episodes of subacute thyroiditis. The titers of various viral antibodies were not increased significantly during the clinical course of the recurrence. Regarding the HLA typing, A26, B35 and C3 were positive in all 3 patients. The association between the occurrence of subacute thyroiditis and the presence of HLA-B35 and C3 has hitherto been reported, although the association of HLA-A26 with recurrent type of subacute thyroiditis was observed and described for the first time in this report. It is suggested that HLA-A26 may somehow be related to the predisposition to the recurrence of subacute thyroiditis which developed after more than 10 years.  相似文献

The development of innovative technologies for solar energy conversion and storage is important for solving the global warming problem and for establishing a sustainable society. The photocatalytic water‐splitting reaction using semiconductor powders has been intensively studied as a promising technology for direct and simple solar energy conversion. However, the evolution of H2 and O2 gases in a stoichiometric ratio (H2/O2 = 2) is very difficult owing to various issues, such as an unfavorable backward reaction and mismatched band potentials. Two important findings have widened the variety of photocatalysts available for stoichiometric water‐splitting, viz. the carbonate anion effect and the Z‐scheme photocatalytic reaction using a redox mediator. The bicarbonate anion has been found to act as a redox catalyst via preferential peroxide formation and subsequent decomposition to O2. As the Z‐scheme reaction using a redox mediator mitigates band potential mismatches, it is widely applicable for various visible‐light‐active photocatalysts. This review describes the development of photocatalytic water‐splitting for solar hydrogen production using the carbonate anion effect and the Z‐scheme reaction. Moreover, recent developments in photocatalysis–electrolysis hybrid systems, an advanced Z‐scheme reaction concept, are also reviewed for practical and economical hydrogen production.  相似文献
