Melanoma central nervous system metastases are increasing, and the challenges presented by this patient population remain complex. In December 2015, the Melanoma Research Foundation and the Wistar Institute hosted the First Summit on Melanoma Central Nervous System (CNS) Metastases in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Here, we provide a review of the current status of the field of melanoma brain metastasis research; identify key challenges and opportunities for improving the outcomes in patients with melanoma brain metastases; and set a framework to optimize future research in this critical area. 相似文献

Kinematic and dynamic characteristics of pulsating flow in a model of
human aortic arch are obtained by a computational analysis. Three-dimensional
flow processes are summarized by pressure distributions on the symmetric plane
together with velocity and pressure contours on a few cross sections for systolic
acceleration and deceleration. Without considering the effects of aortic tapering
and the carotid arteries, the development of tubular boundary layer with
centrifugal forces and pulsation are also analyzed for flow separation and

A major liability of existing nicotine vaccine candidates is the wide variation in anti-nicotine immune responses among clinical trial participants. In order to address this liability, significant emphasis has been directed at evaluating adjuvants and delivery systems that confer more robust potentiation of the anti-nicotine immune response. Toward that end, we have initiated work that seeks to exploit the adjuvant effect of liposomes, with or without Toll-like receptor agonist(s). The results of the murine immunization study described herein support the hypothesis that a liposomal nicotine vaccine formulation may provide a means for addressing the immunogenicity challenge. 相似文献

Electrically small antennas (ESAs) are becoming one of the key components in the compact wireless devices for telecommunications, defence, and aerospace systems, especially for the spherical one whose geometric layout is more closely approaching Chu’s limit, thus yielding significant bandwidth improvements relative to the linear and planar counterparts. Yet broad applications of the volumetric ESAs are still hindered since the low cost fabrication has remained a tremendous challenge. Here we report a state-of-the-art technology to transfer electrically conductive composites (ECCs) from a planar mould to a volumetric thermoplastic substrate by using pad-printing technology without pattern distortion, benefit from the excellent properties of the ECCs as well as the printing-calibration method that we developed. The antenna samples prepared in this way meet the stringent requirement of an ESA (ka is as low as 0.32 and the antenna efficiency is as high as 57%), suggesting that volumetric electronic components i.e. the antennas can be produced in such a simple, green, and cost-effective way. Four natural pyranocoumarins clausenidin (1), nordentatin (2), clausarin (3), and xanthoxyletin (4) were isolated from the medicinal plant Clausena excavata. Recently, we found that 1 and 2 suppressed hepatitis B virus surface antigen in HepA2 cells, and in addition, 1–3 showed cytotoxic activity against four human cancer cell lines (A549, MCF7, KB, and KB-VIN). To explore the SAR of 1–4, 17 pyranocoumarin analogues (5–21) were designed and synthesized. Among these analogues, 5 and 10 were the most potent against hepatitis B virus with EC50 values of 1.14 and 1.34 μM, respectively. The most interesting result in the cytotoxicity assay was the significant activity of 1, 5, and 6 against the multi-drug resistant cell line, KB-VIN, without activity against the KB cell line. These data suggest that these three compounds could be useful hits for developing MDR-inverse drugs. 相似文献
