The activity of hair cells of statocysts inHelix lucorum was investigated by means of intra- and extracellular recording, applying appropriate stimulation of the organs of balance, optic photoreceptors, and the chemoreceptors of the optic tentacle bulb. Mechanical stimulation of the statocysts evoked a firing reaction in the hair cells as a result of generator potentials occurring at the receptors. The amplitude of generator potentials was proportional to the intensity of the reaction. Stimulating the optic photoreceptors by switching on a light produced a spike response in the hair cells with a short latency of 0.3–2 sec. The latent period of this response was inversely proportional to the intensity of the light. Appropriate stimulation of the chemoreceptors of the optic tentacle bulb caused a faint spike response with a long latent period of 20–40 sec in the hair cells. Illumination and stimulation of the chemoreceptors produced an inhibitory response in the form of bursts of IPSP in 2 out of more than 50 hair cells.Institute of Higher Nervous Activity and Neurophysiology, Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Moscow. Lactate (20 mM) was studied for its effect on the intensity of [1-6-14C] glucose and [1,4-14C] succinate oxidation by the rat myocardial homogenates. It is established that lactate induces specific suppression of aerobic glucose oxidation. A moderate reduction of the succinate and lactate oxidation in their combined incubation is of a non-specific character.  相似文献

The primary structure of a gene of the Na+, K+-ATPase multigenic family in the human genome has been determined. The gene corresponds to a hypothetical alpha III-form of the enzyme catalytic subunit. The gene comprises over 25,000 bp, and its protein coding region includes 23 exons and 22 introns. Cerebral ischemia results in severe derangements of energy metabolism in the nervous tissue including activation of glycolytic pathway. Activity of cytosolic lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in the specific brain structures remains unclear. The recent study was aimed at investigation into the LDH activity in the cytoplasm of both hippocampal and cortical neurons in Mongolian gerbils (Meriones unguiculatus) at different durations of reperfusion after global ischemia. Analysis showed that the activity of LDH in pyramidal neurons of various hippocampal areas and neurons of II, III and V cortical layers after 7-minute forebrain ischemia depended on both localization of the neurons and duration ofreperfusion. In general, the changes in postischemic cytosolic LDH activity include significant decrease in the LDH activity 2 days after reperfusion with varying degree of recovery on day 7 of reperfusion.  相似文献

Histological changes and alterations in biophysical and biochemical parameters in liver of gamma-irradiate rats have been investigated. The gamma-irradiation of the whole body of rats with a single dose of 1 Gy did not cause any impairments of beam structure of rat liver, but resulted in the lymphocytic infiltrations of portal tracts which were not accompanied by formation of spotty areas of necrosis in adjacent areas of lever parenchyma. gamma-Irradiation stimulated proliferation of the hepatocytes and induced time-dependent mitochondrial structure lesions. Post-irradiation changes in cell cytoplasm appeared as disordering in reticulum-endothelial system, among them enlarging and fragmentation of its cisterns, cytoplasmic vacuolization, enhancement of the number of lysosomes and of the lipid inclusion contents. These facts revealed the mobilization of the additional energy resources for recovery of metabolic processes in rat liver. Post-irradiation increase of the level of the hepatocyte membrane lipid peroxidation products preceded liver morphological alterations. The membrane lipid microviscosity decreased in 1 and 3 days after irradiation. As a result of damages of hepatocyte membrane, the activity of the alanin- and asparagin-aminotransferases in blood serum increased 6 hours after. We can conclude that the whole body single gamma-irradiation with a dose of 1 Gy leads to the reversible but significant damages to the rat liver cell membrane structures. These damages might be the reason of radiation-induced liver morphological alterations.  相似文献
