Nowadays, complex smartphone applications are developed that support gaming, navigation, video editing, augmented reality, and speech recognition which require considerable computational power and battery lifetime. The cloud computing provides a brand new opportunity for the development of mobile applications. Mobile Hosts (MHs) are provided with data storage and processing services on a cloud computing platform rather than on the MHs. To provide seamless connection and reliable cloud service, we are focused on communication. When the connection to cloud server is increased explosively, each MH connection quality has to be declined. It causes several problems: network delay, retransmission, and so on. In this paper, we propose proxy based architecture to improve link performance for each MH in mobile cloud computing. By proposed proxy, the MH need not keep connection of the cloud server because it just connected one of proxy in the same subnet. And we propose the optimal access network discovery algorithm to optimize bandwidth usage. When the MH changes its point of attachment, proposed discovery algorithm helps to connect the optimal access network for cloud service. By experiment result and analysis, the proposed connection management method has better performance than the 802.11 access method.  相似文献

Background

Interleukin-8 (IL-8) is a potent chemo-attractant cytokine responsible for neutrophil infiltration in lungs with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). The IL-8 protein and mRNA expression are increased in the lung with IPF. We evaluated the effect of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the IL-8 gene on the risk of IPF.

Methods

One promoter (rs4073T>A) and two intronic SNPs (rs2227307T>G and rs2227306C>T) of the IL-8 genes were genotyped in 237 subjects with IPF and 456 normal controls. Logistic regression analysis was applied to evaluate the association of these SNPs with IPF. IL-8 in BAL fluids was measured using a quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay, and promoter activity was assessed using the luciferase reporter assay.

Results

The minor allele frequencies of rs4073T>A and rs2227307T>G were significantly lower in the 162 subjects with surgical biopsy-proven IPF and 75 subjects with clinical IPF compared with normal controls in the recessive model (OR = 0.46 and 0.48, p = 0.006 and 0.007, respectively). The IL-8 protein concentration in BAL fluids significantly increased in 24 subjects with IPF compared with 14 controls (p = 0.009). Nine IPF subjects homozygous for the rs4073 T>A common allele exhibited higher levels of the IL-8 protein compared with six subjects homozygous for the minor allele (p = 0.024). The luciferase activity of the rs4073T>A common allele was significantly higher than that of the rs4073T>A minor allele (p = 0.002).

Conclusion

The common allele of a promoter SNP, rs4073T>A, may increase susceptibility to the development of IPF via up-regulation of IL-8.  相似文献

Recent studies suggest that seaweed extracts are a significant source of bioactive compounds comparable to the dietary phytochemicals such as onion and tea extracts. The exploration of natural antioxidants that attenuate oxidative damage is important for developing strategies to treat obesity‐related pathologies. The objective of this study was to screen the effects of seaweed extracts of 49 species on adipocyte differentiation and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production during the adipogenesis in 3T3‐L1 adipocytes, and to investigate their total phenol contents and 2,2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activities. Our results show that high total phenol contents were observed in the extracts of Ecklonia cava (see Table 1 for taxonomic authors) (681.1 ± 16.0 μg gallic acid equivalents [GAE] · g?1), Dictyopteris undulata (641.3 ± 70.7 μg GAE · g?1), and Laurencia intermedia (560.9 ± 48.1 μg GAE · g?1). In addition, DPPH radical scavenging activities were markedly higher in Sargassum macrocarpum (60.2%), Polysiphonia morrowii (55.0%), and Ishige okamurae (52.9%) than those of other seaweed extracts (P < 0.05). Moreover, treatment with several seaweed extracts including D. undulata, Sargassum micracanthum, Chondrus ocellatus, Gelidium amansii, Gracilaria verrucosa, and Grateloupia lanceolata significantly inhibited adipocyte differentiation and ROS production during differentiation of 3T3‐L1 preadipocytes. Furthermore, the production of ROS was positively correlated with lipid accumulation (R2 = 0.8149). According to these preliminary results, some of the seaweed extracts can inhibit ROS generation, which may protect against oxidative stress that is linked to obesity. Further studies are required to determine the molecular mechanism between the verified seaweeds and ROS, and the resulting effects on obesity.

New bis-styrylpyridine and bis-styrylbenzene derivatives were designed and synthesized. These 34 compounds were evaluated by Abeta fibril formation inhibitory assay using thioflavin T as a dye (named ThT assay). Most of them showed excellent inhibitory activities for Abeta fibril formation at IC50 of 0.1-2.7 microM which is comparable to curcumin (IC50 of 0.8 microM). Among them, nine compounds were screened for their cytotoxicities on HT-22 cell by MTT assay at 1, 10, and 50 microM. In particular, I-7 and II-2 exhibited the best combination of inhibitory activity and compound cytotoxicity.  相似文献

Tumor hypoxia is associated with more aggressive behavior and resistance to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Carbonic anhydrase IX (CA9) level increases under hypoxia and is related to poor prognostic factors. The aim of this study was to evaluate the expression of CA9 and to identify its prognostic significance in small intestinal carcinomas (SICs). CA9 expression was observed in 36% (63/175) of SICs. CA9 expression showed significant correlation with well- and moderately differentiated tumors compared with poorly differentiated tumors (p=0.039), tumors with no lymph node metastasis (p=0.005), and lower stage carcinomas (p=0.009). CA9 expression showed an inverse correlation with perineural invasion (p=0.021) and lymphatic invasion (p=0.022). No significant correlation was observed between CA9 expression and gross type, histological type, pathological tumor (pT) classification, vascular invasion, pancreas invasion, and retroperitoneal seeding. SICs with CA9 overexpression showed better overall survival compared with those with no or weak CA9 expression (p=0.048). In the multivariate analysis, poorly differentiated SICs (p<0.001) and SICs with lymph node metastasis (p=0.002) were independent poor prognostic factors. CA9 expression in SICs is more frequently associated with good prognostic markers and better overall survival; however, it is not an independent prognostic factor.  相似文献

The Klotho (KL) gene is a classical “aging suppressor” gene. Although recent studies have shown that KL participates in the progression of several types of human cancers, the relationship between KL polymorphism and prostate cancer was unknown. The present study aimed to investigate the association between KL genetic polymorphisms and prostate cancer. Twenty-five common single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in KL gene (including KL gene polymorphism C1818T in exon 4) were assessed in 272 prostate cancer cases and 173 controls. Single-locus analyses were conducted using unconditional logistic regression. In addition, we did a haplotype analysis for the 25 KL SNPs tested. CC genotype of C1548T KL polymorphism had approximately twofold increased prostate cancer risk compared with the homozygous genotype TT and heterozygote CT (odds ratio 1.85 [95 % CI, 1.09–3.12], P = 0.02). We also found that non-T allele carriers had significantly higher prostate cancer risk associated with the prostate cancer clinical characteristics (tumor stage or Gleason score). Our findings suggested that the C1548T polymorphism of KL gene is associated with the prostate cancer and may act as a risk factor for the development of prostate cancer.  相似文献

Analyses of the hexane washes of antennae, forelegs and whole bodies of Helicoverpa zea, Heliothis virescens, and Manduca sexta revealed notable differences in the components of the cuticular coatings of each species. Most striking were the differences between the cuticular coatings of male and female antennae of both H. zea and H. virescens. Novel esters of short-chain acids (C2-C4) and long-chain secondary alcohols (C25-C32) were identified in the hexane washes of the male antenna and forelegs of H. zea and H. virescens. These compounds were found in only small amounts or were completely absent on the female antennae of both species. In H. zea, butyrates of 7- and 8-pentacosanol and 8- and 9-heptacosanol were found, whereas, in the foreleg extracts of H. virescens, acetates and propionates were detected in addition to butyrates. While cholesterol is a major component of antennal washes (10-15%), only traces were found in the foreleg extracts. Although the composition of the cuticular coating of M. sexta differed greatly from that of the other two species, the extractable coatings of the antennae of male and female M. sexta were nearly identical.  相似文献

We have synthesized and evaluated α,α′-disubstituted phenylacetate derivatives that were designed as T-type calcium channel blockers. Among them, compound 10e (IC50 = 8.17 ± 0.48 nM) showed the most potent T-type calcium current blocking activity and higher potency than Mibefradil (IC50 = 1.34 ± 0.49 μM). The PK profile and subtype selectivity over L-type calcium channel were satisfied for further animal assay using disease model.  相似文献
