The size structure of deep-sea meio- and macrobenthos was studied using 12 USNEL box corer samples collected in the Western Pacific. Both macro- and meiobenthos decreased in abundance with increasing water depth, as expected, but contrary to previous findings, the rate of decrease did not differ significantly between the two size classes of organisms. The median size index of total meiobenthos decreased with increasing water depth, while when the vertical distribution of organisms in the sediment was considered, such a trend was restricted to the organisms found in the upper 1 cm layer. In contrast, the median size of the nematodes increased with increasing water depth, and a possible cause for this correlation is discussed. 相似文献

Under thiamine-deficient, aerobic culture conditions, Yarrowia lipolytica was found to produce D-(+)-2-hydroxyglutaric acid extracellularly in amounts of about 5 mg per ml of the culture filtrate, together with pyruvic and 2-ketoglutaric acids, from glucose or glycerol in a chemically defined medium. We investigated the hypolipidemic effects of young persimmon fruit (YP) on apolipoprotein E-deficient C57BL/6.KOR-ApoEshl mice. These mice exhibited higher plasma cholesterols, except for high-density lipoprotein (HDL), and lower plasma HDL cholesterol than C57BL/6.Cr mice that had the same genetic background as the C57BL/6.KOR-ApoEshl mice. Male C57BL/6.KOR-ApoEshl mice (n=5) were fed a diet supplemented with dry YP, Hachiya-kaki, at a concentration of 5% (w/w) for 10 weeks. YP treatment significantly lowered plasma chylomicron, very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterols, and triglyceride, and this response was accompanied by an elevation of fecal bile acid excretion. In the liver, sterol regulatory element binding protein-2 gene expression was significantly higher in mice fed YP, while the mRNA and protein levels of the LDL receptor did not change. These results indicate that acceleration of fecal bile acid excretion is a major mechanism of the hypolipidemic effect induced by YP in C57BL/6.KOR-ApoEshl mice. 相似文献

The hydrolysis and esterification by a thermostable lipase from Humicola lanuginosa No. 3 were investigated. Both reactions occurred readily at temperatures between 45~50°C. Esterification by the enzyme with glycerol was observed to be specific towards fatty acids with carbon numbers of C12~C18. Laurie acid esters with different alcohols such as primary alcohols, terpene alcohols, eie., were also synthesized readily. Esterification by the enzyme was adversely affected by the water content (optimum, ca. 7%), however, the hydrolysis rate increased rapidly with increasing water content (optimum, az. 60%). The enzyme showed increased activity in organic solvent-aqueous reaction systems. Nevertheless, hydrolysis in complete organic phase reactions was found not to be feasible. Hydrolysis at a higher temperature (50 or 55°C) in a solvent free phase was almost the same as that in organic solvent-aqueous phase reactions. The components of glycerides varied considerably during hydrolysis, whereby esterification resulted in a higher quantity of mono- and diglycerides (about 40%), compared to in the case of hydrolysis, for which the value was about 10~20%. 相似文献

EGF-induced activation of ERK has been extensively studied by both experimental and theoretical approaches. Here, we used a simulation model based mostly on experimentally determined parameters to study the ERK-mediated negative feedback regulation of the Ras guanine nucleotide exchange factor, son of sevenless (SOS). Because SOS1 is phosphorylated at multiple serine residues upon stimulation, we evaluated the role of the multiplicity by building two simulation models, which we termed the decisive and cooperative phosphorylation models. The two models were constrained by the duration of Ras activation and basal phosphorylation level of SOS1. Possible solutions were found only in the decisive model wherein at least three, and probably more than four, phosphorylation sites decisively suppress the SOS activity. Thus, the combination of experimental approaches and the model analysis has suggested an unexpected role of multiple phosphorylations of SOS1 in the negative regulation. 相似文献

The Co-NO stretching vibration has been assigned in the resonance Raman spectra of various cobalt-substituted monomeric hemoglobins by employing isotope-labeling of nitrosyl (14N16O, 15N16O, 14N18O). Monomeric hemoglobins with a distal histidine (sperm whale myoglobin and leghemoglobin) exhibit this vibration at 573-575 cm-1, whereas hemoglobins without distal histidine (elephant myoglobin and insect hemoglobin from Chironomus thummi thummi, CTT III) show this vibration in the range of 553-558 cm-1. The Fe-NO stretching vibration which occurs in the range of 554-556 cm-1 does not reflect the distal histidine-ligand interaction. Therefore, the Co-NO moiety which is isoelectronic with the Fe-O2 moiety is a good monitor for distal effects on the exogenous ligand of hemoglobins, especially due to the fact that in hemoglobins with distal histidine the Fe-O2 stretching vibration (567-572 cm-1) is similar to the Co-NO stretching vibration. 相似文献

Undifferentiated callus tissues of Lithospermum erythrorhizon are capable of synthesizing shikonin derivatives, which are normally formed in the cork cells of the roots. Their biosynthesis in cultured cells is controlled by auxin and light.
