In this investigation, the concentration levels of hair elements of calcium, iron, and zinc were measured in pregnant women from Tianjin metropolis, China. The subjects were 93 cases of pregnant women who had been suffering from calcium, iron, or zinc deficiency judged by blood tests at the mid-term of the second trimester or early in the third trimester. Of these 93 cases, 82 subjects had their hair element levels measured when the blood tests were conducted. Then, they were supplied with mineral element nutrients of gluconic acidic zinc (noted as Zn-nutrient), gluconic acidic calcium (Ca-nutrient), or/and ferrous sulfate (Fe-nutrient) which were correspondent to the deficient element(s) for more than 2 mo before 84 subjects returned to hospital for further diagnoses and had their hair element levels measured for the second time. Finally, in the third trimester or nearparturient phase, 13 subjects had their hair element levels measured again. Except for the deficiencies of calcium, iron, or/and zinc, these subjects were all healthy without symptoms of any diseases. The concentrations of hair Ca, Fe, and Zn were measured by X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometry. These concentrations of the three hair elements measured at three different times were statistically analyzed. From the analyses, it was clear that hair concentrations of Ca, Fe, and Zn could reflect the effects of supplementation. Also, the mutual resistant effects among Ca-, Fe-, and Zn-nutrients were revealed. However, by appropriate combination, the mutual resistant effects could be depressed and mutual promotional effects might be enhanced. Finally, it could be concluded that mineral element deficiencies might be convalesced by adequate compensations of mineral element nutrients.  相似文献

While many processes have been developed to modify the surface of glass and other oxides for biomolecule attachment, they rely primarily upon wet chemistry and are costly and time-consuming. We describe a process that uses a cold plasma and a subsequent in vacuo vapor-phase reaction to terminate a variety of oxide surfaces with epoxide chemical groups. These epoxide groups can react with amine-containing biomolecules, such as proteins and modified oligonucleotides, to form strong covalent linkages between the biomolecules and the treated surface. The use of a plasma activation step followed by an in vacuo vapor-phase reaction allows for the precise control of surface functional groups, rather than the mixture of functionalities normally produced. By maintaining the samples under vacuum throughout the process, adsorption of contaminants is effectively eliminated. This process modifies a range of different oxide surfaces, is fast, consumes a minimal amount of reagents, and produces attachment densities for bound biomolecules that are comparable to or better than commercially available substrates.  相似文献

The protein kinase C activators phorbol myristate acetate (PMA), mezerein, oleoylacetylglycerol, and (-)-indolactam V, although without direct effect on arachidonic acid release, greatly enhance the release of platelet arachidonic acid caused by the Ca2+ ionophores A23187 and ionomycin. In contrast, 4 alpha-phorbol 12,13-didecanoate and (+)-indolactam V, which lack the ability to activate kinase C, do not potentiate arachidonate release. Release of arachidonic acid occurs without activation of phospholipase C and is therefore mediated by phospholipase A2. Synergism between PMA and A23187 is not affected by inactivation of the Na+/H+ exchanger with dimethylamiloride. The time course and dose-response for the effect of PMA at 23 degrees C closely correlate with the phosphorylation of a set of relatively "slowly" phosphorylated proteins (P20, P35, P41, P60), but not the rapidly phosphorylated P47 protein. P20 is myosin light chain, and P41 is probably Gi alpha, but the other proteins have not been positively identified. Depletion of metabolic ATP stores by antimycin A plus 2-deoxyglucose abolishes both protein phorphorylation and the potentiation of arachidonate release by PMA, but does not prevent fatty acid release by the ionophores. Similarly, the kinase C inhibitors H-7 and staurosporine produce, respectively, partial and complete inhibition of PMA-potentiated arachidonic acid release and protein phosphorylation, without affecting the direct response to ionophores. These results indicate that protein phosphorylation, mediated by kinase C, promotes the phospholipase A2 dependent release of arachidonic acid in platelets when intracellular Ca2+ is elevated by Ca2+ ionophores.  相似文献

Understanding how mutualisms evolve in response to a changing environment will be critical for predicting the long‐term impacts of global changes, such as increased N (nitrogen) deposition. Bacterial mutualists in particular might evolve quickly, thanks to short generation times and the potential for independent evolution of plasmids through recombination and/or HGT (horizontal gene transfer). In a previous work using the legume/rhizobia mutualism, we demonstrated that long‐term nitrogen fertilization caused the evolution of less‐mutualistic rhizobia. Here, we use our 63 previously isolated rhizobium strains in comparative phylogenetic and quantitative genetic analyses to determine the degree to which variation in partner quality is attributable to phylogenetic relationships among strains versus recent genetic changes in response to N fertilization. We find evidence of distinct evolutionary relationships between chromosomal and pSym genes, and broad similarity between pSym genes. We also find that nifD has a unique evolutionary history that explains much of the variation in partner quality, and suggest MoFe subunit interaction sites in the evolution of less‐mutualistic rhizobia. These results provide insight into the mechanisms behind the evolutionary response of rhizobia to long‐term N fertilization, and we discuss the implications of our results for the evolution of the mutualism.  相似文献

In this study, a series of tests were conducted in a 6 L anaerobic sequencing batch reactor (ASBR) to investigate the effect of pH, hydraulic retention time (HRT) and organic loading rate on biohydrogen production at 28 °C. Sucrose was used as the main substrate to mimic carbohydrate-rich wastewater and inoculum was prepared from anaerobic digested sludge without pretreatment. The reactor was operated initially with nitrogen sparging to form anaerobic condition. Results showed that methanogens were effectively suppressed. The optimum pH value would vary depending on the HRT. Maximum hydrogen production rate and yield of 3.04 L H2/L reactor d and 2.16 mol H2/mol hexose respectively were achieved at pH 4.5, HRT 30 h, and OLR 11.0 kg/m3 d. Two relationships involving the propionic acid/acetic acid ratio and ethanol/acetic acid ratio were derived from the analysis of the metabolites of fermentation. Ethanol/acetic acid ratio of 1.25 was found to be a threshold value for higher hydrogen production.  相似文献

SAR of a novel series of pyridazine-derived γ-secretase modulators is described. Compound 25 was found to be a potent modulator in vitro, which on further profiling, was found to decrease Aβ42 and Aβ40, and maintain the levels of total Aβ. Furthermore, 25 demonstrated excellent pharmacokinetic parameters as well as good CNS penetration in the rat.  相似文献

Mice were treated daily with [3H]MPTP (30 mg/kg, 1 uCi, s.c.) for 1, 3, and 10 days to determine the fate and localization of tritiated compounds. An untreated mouse was housed either in the same cage ("cage-mate control") or in an adjacent cage separated by mesh-wire ("near-neighbor control"). The radioactivity measured in blood, brain, liver, and remaining body of [3H]MPTP-treated mice was dependent on the total dose of the drug the animals received and did not vary with the type of tissue analyzed. Significant amounts of radioactivity were found in the tissues of the "cage-mate control" mice, but not of the "near-neighbor control" mice. The route of transmission appears to be through the urine, as the urine of [3H]MPTP-treated mice was highly radioactive after the drug injection. Only traces of radioactivity were found in their feces and there was no increase in the background radiation in the environment of the cages, indicating that the tritiated compounds were not exhaled. Proper disposal of urinary products of MPTP-treated animals is therefore necessary to reduce the risk of possible drug contamination in humans.  相似文献

Background

The use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-conditional permanent pacemakers has increased significantly. In this meta-analysis, we examine the safety of MRI-conditional pacing systems in comparison with conventional systems.

Methods

An electronic search was performed using major databases, including studies that compared the outcomes of interest between patients receiving MRI-conditional pacemakers (MRI group) versus conventional pacemakers (control group).

Results

Six studies (5 retrospective and 1 prospective non-randomised) involving 2,118 adult patients were identified. The MRI-conditional pacemakers, deployed in 969 patients, were all from a single manufacturer (Medtronic Pacing System with 5086 leads). The rate of pacemaker lead dislodgement (atrial and ventricular) was significantly higher in the MRI group (3% vs. 1%, OR 2.47 (95% CI 1.26; 4.83), p?=?0.008). The MRI group had a significantly higher rate of pericardial complications (2% vs. 1%, OR 4.23 (95% CI 1.18; 15.10), p?=?0.03) and a numerically higher overall complication rate in comparison with the conventional group (6% vs. 3%, OR 2.02 (95% CI 0.88; 4.66), p?=?0.10) but this was not statistically significant.

Conclusions

In this meta-analysis, the rates of pacemaker lead dislodgement and pericardial complications were significantly higher with the Medtronic MRI-conditional pacing system.
