The orientation of the distal part of the quadriceps femoris muscle as a function of the knee flexion-extension angle 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Lateral view radiographs of ten autopsy knees were used to determine the orientation of the patellar ligament, patella and quadriceps tendon relative to tibia and femur at different flexion-extension angles (0-120 degrees) of the knee. The results show a linear relationship between the angle of flexion and the movement of the patellar ligament relative to the tibia and of the movement of the patella relative to tibia and femur. There is a non-linear relationship between angle of flexion and the movement of the quadriceps tendon relative to the patellar ligament, patella and femur. The angular changes between patella and patellar ligament are negligible. The complicated movements of the distal part of the quadriceps femoris muscle may significantly influence biomechanical parameters such as the forces acting at the patella and tibial tuberosity. 相似文献

Topoisomerase activities have been measured in nuclear extracts of concanavalin A-stimulated lymphocytes. In parallel with the wave of DNA synthesis, type II topoisomerase activity was considerably increased. After 72 h treatment, this activity was stimulated approx. 20-fold over the activity in untreated cells. In contrast, type I topoisomerase was poorly stimulated after 24 h treatment, and 4-5-fold after 72 h. These findings, together with our previous results on regenerating rat liver, suggest a major role of topoisomerase II in DNA replication. 相似文献

The cryptic Streptococcus cremoris Wg2 plasmid pWV01 (1.5 megadaltons) was genetically marked with the chloramphenicol resistance (Cmr) gene from pC194. The recombinant plasmid (pGK1, 2.4 megadaltons) replicated and expressed Cmr in Bacillus subtilis. From this plasmid an insertion-inactivation vector was constructed by inserting the erythromycin resistance (Emr) gene from pE194 cop-6. This plasmid (pGK12, 2.9 megadaltons) contained a unique BclI site in the Emr gene and unique ClaI and HpaII sites outside both resistance genes. It was stably maintained in B. subtilis at a copy number of approximately 5. pGK12 also transformed Escherichia coli competent cells to Cmr and Emr. The copy number in E. coli was about 60. Moreover, pGK12 transformed protoplasts of Streptococcus lactis. In this host both resistance genes are expressed. pGK12 is stably maintained in S. lactis at a copy number of 3. 相似文献

Geobacter sulfurreducens is a model bacterium to study the degradation of organic compounds coupled to the reduction of Fe(III). The response of G. sulfurreducens to the electron donors acetate, formate, hydrogen and a mixture of all three with Fe(III) citrate as electron acceptor was studied using comparative physiological and proteomic approaches. Variations in the supplied electron donors resulted in differential abundance of proteins involved in the citric acid cycle (CAC), gluconeogenesis, electron transport, and hydrogenases and formate dehydrogenase. Our results provided new insights into the electron donor metabolism of G. sulfurreducens. Remarkably, formate was the preferred electron donor compared to acetate, hydrogen, or acetate plus hydrogen. When hydrogen was the electron donor, formate was formed, which was associated with a high abundance of formate dehydrogenase. Notably, abundant proteins of two CO2 fixation pathways (acetyl-CoA pathway and the reversed oxidative CAC) corroborated chemolithoautotrophic growth of G. sulfurreducens with formate or hydrogen and CO2, and provided novel insight into chemolithoautotrophic growth of G. sulfurreducens. 相似文献

Climate change will profoundly alter the physiology and ecology of plants, insect herbivores, and their natural enemies, resulting in strong effects on multitrophic interactions. Yet, manipulative studies that investigate the direct combined impacts of changes in CO2, temperature, and precipitation on the third trophic level remain rare. Here, we assessed how exposure to elevated CO2, increased temperature, and decreased precipitation directly affect the performance and predation success of species from four major groups of herbivore natural enemies: an entomopathogenic nematode, a wolf spider, a ladybug, and a parasitoid wasp. A four‐day exposure to future climatic conditions (RCP 8.5), entailing a 28% decrease in precipitation, a 3.4°C raise in temperature, and a 400 ppm increase in CO2 levels, slightly reduced the survival of entomopathogenic nematodes, but had no effect on the survival of other species. Predation success was not negatively affected in any of the tested species, but it was even increased for wolf spiders and entomopathogenic nematodes. Factorial manipulation of climate variables revealed a positive effect of reduced soil moisture on nematode infectivity, but not of increased temperature or elevated CO2. These results suggest that natural enemies of herbivores may be well adapted to short‐term changes in climatic conditions. These findings provide mechanistic insights that will inform future efforts to disentangle the complex interplay of biotic and abiotic factors that drive climate‐dependent changes in multitrophic interaction networks. 相似文献

The effect of insecticides on Trichogramma exiguum Pinto & Platner emergence, adult survival, and fitness parameters was investigated. Insecticides tested were lambda cyhalothrin, cypermethrin, thiodicarb, profenophos, spinosad, methoxyfenozide, and tebufenozide. All insecticides, with the exception of methoxyfenozide and tebufenozide, adversely affected Trichogramma emergence from Helicoverpa zea (Boddie) host eggs when exposed at different preimaginal stages of development (larval, prepupal, or pupal). Regardless of the developmental stage treated, none of the insecticides tested had a significant effect on the sex ratio or frequency of brachyptery of emerged females. However, the mean life span of emerged T. exiguum females significantly varied among insecticide treatments, and was significantly affected by the developmental stage of parasitoid when treated. Based on LC50 values, spinosad and prophenofos were the most toxic compounds to female T. exiguum adults, followed by lambda cyhalothrin, cypermethrin, and thiodicarb. Insecticides field-weathered for four to 6 d on cotton leaves showed no activity against female T. exiguum adults. 相似文献

Sequence-specific high mobility group (HMG) box factors bind and bend DNA via interactions in the minor groove. Three-dimensional NMR analyses have provided the structural basis for this interaction. The cognate HMG domain DNA motif is generally believed to span 6-8 bases. However, alignment of promoter elements controlled by the yeast genes ste11 and Rox1 has indicated strict conservation of a larger DNA motif. By site selection, we identify a highly specific 12-base pair motif for Ste11, AGAACAAAGAAA. Similarly, we show that Tcf1, MatMc, and Sox4 bind unique, highly specific DNA motifs of 12, 12, and 10 base pairs, respectively. Footprinting with a deletion mutant of Ste11 reveals a novel interaction between the 3' base pairs of the extended DNA motif and amino acids C-terminal to the HMG domain. The sequence-specific interaction of Ste11 with these 3' base pairs contributes significantly to binding and bending of the DNA motif. 相似文献
