In 1998–2000 a monitoring of the spectrum of Fusarium species on winter wheat was carried out in the Rhineland. The epidemic spread ofFusarium spp. on wheat plants during growing season was investigated as well as the grain contamination after harvest.F avenaceum was the Fusarium species isolated most frequently followed byF culmorum, F poae andF graminearum. Microdochium nivale occurred considerably only in 1998. Both, susceptibility and plant height of the cultivars were correlated to the incidence of Fusarium species /M nivale on harvested kernels; interactions with cropping intensities were detected. The incidence ofF poae seemed to be independent of the cultivar-specific Fusarium susceptibility. Despite the lack of disease symptoms, between growth stages 45–85 mycelium ofFusarium spp. was detectable in the leaves as well as conidia on the leaf surfaces. 相似文献

Background
The availability of interaction databases provides an opportunity for researchers to utilize immense amounts of data exclusively in silico. Recently there has been an emphasis on studying the global properties of biological interactions using network analysis. While this type of analysis offers a wide variety of global insights it has surprisingly not been used to examine more localized interactions based on mechanism. Mitochondrial control-region sequences in two shorebird species, the turnstone and the dunlin, and their utility in population genetic studies 总被引:12,自引:0,他引:12
We determined the mitochondrial control-region sequences of five turnstones
(Arenaria interpres) and three dunlins (Calidris alpina). Comparisons
revealed that the central part (part II) is conserved relative to much more
variable parts at the beginning (part I) and the end (part III). This
pattern of sequence conservation is also found in the control regions of
other vertebrates. The average sequence divergence between turnstone and
dunlin was 21.8% for part I, 7.5% for part II, and 29.5% for part III.
Within-species sequence divergence over the entire control region was much
lower, at 0.9% for turnstones and 2.0% for dunlins. In both shorebird
species, part III contains a repetitive sequence composed only of A and C
nucleotides, which has not been found in the control regions of other
birds. A survey of the part I sequences of 25 turnstones and 25 dunlins
sampled around the world revealed that these species have very different
population genetic structures. Dunlins are not only much more
differentiated in their sequences but also have a strongly subdivided
population genetic structure. Pleistocene vicariant events combined with
strong natal philopatry and high mutation rates of the sequences are likely
responsible for this population genetic subdivision. Conversely, part I
sequences of turnstones are weakly differentiated and are geographically
unstructured. We argue that this is not the result of global gene flow but
that, instead turnstones have recently expanded from a refugial population
that was bottlenecked.

Comparison of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) control-region sequences of 155 dunlins from 15 breeding populations confirmed the existence of five major phylogeographic groups in the circumpolar breeding range of this migratory shorebird species. Time estimates of the origin of groups, based on sequence divergences and a molecular clock for birds, suggest a scenario of repeated fragmentation of populations in isolated tundra refugia during the late Pleistocene. The distribution of about three-quarters of all detected molecular variance between phylogeographic groups attests to the strongly subdivided genetic population structure in dunlins that is being maintained by natal philopatry. Each mtDNA phylogeographic group can be related to a morphometrically defined subspecies, but several other recognized subspecies are not supported by monophyletic mtDNA lineages within their purported ranges. More detailed analysis of several European populations reveals low amounts of gene flow and the partitioning of a substantial fraction of molecular variance between them. This ongoing evolution of population-genetic structuring within the European phylogeographic group most likely started with the last retreat of the ice sheets some 10,000 years ago. Dunlins thus provide one of the clearest examples of the linkage between historical and contemporary components of mtDNA phylogeographic structuring in birds. 相似文献

A likelihood method for the detection of selection and recombination using nucleotide sequences 总被引:28,自引:12,他引:16
Different regions along nucleotide sequences are often subject to different
evolutionary forces. Recombination will result in regions having different
evolutionary histories, while selection can cause regions to evolve at
different rates. This paper presents a statistical method based on
likelihood for detecting such processes by identifying the regions which do
not fit with a single phylogenetic topology and nucleotide substitution
process along the entire sequence. Subsequent reanalysis of these anomalous
regions may then be possible. The method is tested using simulations, and
its application is demonstrated using the primate psi eta-globin
pseudogene, the V3 region of the envelope gene of HIV-1, and argF sequences
from Neisseria bacteria. Reanalysis of anomalous regions is shown to reveal
possible immune selection in HIV-1 and recombination in Neisseria. A
computer program which implements the method is available.

For the phytopathological characterisation of isolates the virulence on primary wheat leaves and the growth rate an potato-dextrose-agar were assessed. The applicability of bovine autosomal microsatellite markers for population genetic studies on African buffalo was investigated. A total of 168 microsatellite markers were tested for PCR amplification on a test panel of seven African buffalo. Amplification was observed for 139 markers (83%), and 101 markers were studied further with 91 (90%) being polymorphic. The mean number of alleles per marker was 5.0 (SE = 0.2) and the mean heterozygosity per marker was 0.61 (SE = 0.03). Considering the overall high level of polymorphism, it was concluded that most bovine microsatellite markers are applicable in African buffalo. 相似文献

The position of replication origins and replication forks relative to the nuclear matrix was analysed by autoradiography. Analysis of 2M NaCl-extracted extracted BHK-nuclei, prepared on coverslips, showed that after brief pulses grains were exclusively found over the central core of the residual nuclei, which corresponds to positions in the nuclear matrix. In asynchronous cells these grains were found to migrate into the DNA-halo surrounding the matrix during a subsequent chase. When the pulse had been administered to synchronous cells at the onset of S-phase, it was observed, however, that in the majority of the structures no such migration had occurred. From this, and from the fact that label incorporated later in S-phase could be chased into the halo, we conclude that, contrary to DNA in replication forks, DNA containing replication origins is permanently attached to the nuclear matrix. 相似文献
