In vitro grown inflorescences of Bambusa edulis were used to investigate the process of vegetative shoot growth in detail. The findings revealed that auxins and ACC could be significant growth regulators in this process. Overall, auxins [NAA, indolebutyric acid (IBA), and 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D)] induced inflorescences to grow vegetative shoots. However, the efficiency of shoot regeneration varied. A greater percentage (27.3–34.5) of inflorescences in the 5 mg l−1 NAA, 10 mg l−1 NAA, and 1 mg l−1 2,4-D treatments formed more vegetative shoots than those exposed to other treatments. IBA promoted shoot regeneration less effectively than NAA and 2,4-D. Fifty percent of regenerated vegetative shoots flowered after 2 months when the medium was supplemented with 5 mg l−1 NAA. All shoots that received 1 mg l−1 1-amino-cyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) flowered in 5 mg l−1 NAA medium. Rooted plantlets were used to examine their survival following in vitro flowering. All plantlets with vegetative shoots, even those with inflorescences, survived and grew. 相似文献

A neutralizing agent is usually employed to counteract the pH reduction during lactic acid fermentation by Rhizopus oryzae. Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) is used as such a pH controlling agent. The low solubility of CaCO3 in the fermentation broth could however lead to low efficiency in pH control and cause problems in the subsequent purification process. Therefore, an alternative agent in place of CaCO3 was examined in this study. The effect of four different neutralizing agents, including CaCO3, sodium hydroxide (NaOH), ammoniacal solution and sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) on lactic acid production and the morphology of the pellets were investigated. Results indicated that CaCO3 was still the preferred choice, because of the pellet morphology and the highest lactic acid concentration (43.3 g/L) obtained in the batch using 60 g/L of sweet potato starch as feedstock. It is noteworthy that the lactic acid purification is relatively easier when using NaHCO3 instead of CaCO3, due to the higher solubility of sodium lactate than calcium lactate. Therefore, even the batch with CaCO3 had a slightly higher productivity (1.23 g/L/h) than the batch with NaHCO3 (1.14 g/L/h), NaHCO3 might be the first choice for process designers whenever recovery is vital. 相似文献

per explant were 1 and 0 in hybrid PH59 and hybrid PH60, respectively. In hybrid PH59, 4.52 μM 2,4-D plus 0.45μM TDZ induced a higher percentage of explants with shoots and shoot number per explant than did the hormone-free treatment.
In hybrid PH60, although 4.52 μM 2,4-D and 0.45 μM TDZ promoted shoot formation, the highest shoot number was found with 4.52 μM 2,4-D alone. Plantlets, each having several roots, were obtained from regenerated shoots after transferring onto hormone-free

The condensing effect of cholesterol on phospholipid bilayers was systematically investigated for saturated and unsaturated chains, as a function of cholesterol concentration. X-ray lamellar diffraction was used to measure the phosphate-to-phosphate distances, PtP, across the bilayers. The measured PtP increases nonlinearly with the cholesterol concentration until it reaches a maximum. With further increase of cholesterol concentration, the PtP remains at the maximum level until the cholesterol content reaches the solubility limit. The data in all cases can be quantitatively explained with a simple model that cholesterol forms complexes with phospholipids in the bilayers. The phospholipid molecules complexed with cholesterol are lengthened and this lengthening effect extends into the uncomplexed phospholipids surrounding the cholesterol complexes. This long-range thickening effect is similar to the effect of gramicidin on the thickness of lipid bilayers due to hydrophobic matching. 相似文献

Two Phalaenopsis orchids, Phalaenopsis amabilis and Phalaenopsis ‘Nebula’, were used to test the effects of induction period (30, 45 and 60 days), subculture period (30, 45 and 60 days),
and explant length (1, 1.5 and 2 cm) on direct somatic embryogenesis from different regions (leaf tip, adaxial side, abaxial
side and cut end) of leaf explants from in vitro grown seedlings. The results showed that the cut end had a highest competence
to form embryos than the other regions of the leaf explants from both orchids. In addition, the suitable culture conditions
were 60 days for induction period in darkness, 45 days for subculture period in light and 1 cm for explant length. Besides,
the combinations of N6-benzyladenine (BA) and naphthaleneacetic acid were tested on their effects on plantlet conversion and further development
of leaf-derived embryo. It was found that 0.5 mg/l of BA showed the highest response on plantlet conversion rate and the lowest

Effects of different carbon supplements on phosphorus removal in low C/P ratio industrial wastewater
This study focuses on the effects of different carbon supplements on biological phosphorus removal in the optonics and semiconductor industrial wastewater treatment. Experimental results demonstrate that the addition of a carbon source (glucose, acetate, and digester supernatant) improved phosphorus removal effectively. When the COD/P ratios were controlled in the range of 18-20 (using glucose and supernatant as supplement), the acclimated sludge showed more than 98% removal of phosphorus. In addition, different organic carbons induce dissimilar behavior in anaerobic release and aerobic uptake of phosphorus. The glucose supplement induces significant phosphorus release in anaerobic phase and then an increased phosphorus uptake in aerobic phase. The released phosphorus descended in anaerobic phase when acetate and supernatant were added. There was a good linear relationship of first order reaction between initial COD concentration and specific substrate utilization rate in anaerobic phase. 相似文献

This study compared the PHAs production behavior of sludges from the anaerobic and oxic phases of an enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) system. This was accomplished by using the kinetics and stoichiometric coefficients obtained from aerobic batch tests to evaluate the performance of these two sludges. Experimental results indicated that the metabolic behavior of the sludges for PHAs production depend significantly on the operating sludge retention time (SRT) of the EBPR system. The oxic sludge with 5 days of SRT exhibited better PHAs production performance than anaerobic sludge. Conversely, the anaerobic sludge with 15 days of SRT had superior PHAs production capability compared to oxic sludge. These comparisons suggest that whether anaerobic or oxic sludge should be employed for PHAs production depends mainly on the operating SRT of the EBPR system. 相似文献
