The authors have investigated the electrical activity of corpus cavernous, first according to Wagner and Gerstenberg’ method, then, since one year, according to Stief method, in the basal state and following intracavernosal injection of vasoactive agents, or following various stimulation tests. They have found again the electrical activity described by these authors, but have been confronted with the difficulty in quantifying the data. Specially single potential analysis seems to them little reliable and reproducible for an objective interpretation. At this stage of their experience, they test two simpler criteria interpretation: the richness of the electrical activity, and the reactivity of the recording to various stimulations. Their preminary results suggest a correlation between those criteria and the state of the autonomic nervous system of the penis.  相似文献

The K-region trans-5,6-dihydrodiols formed in the metabolism of 12-methylbenz[a]anthracene (12-MBA) by liver microsomal preparations from untreated, phenobarbital-treated and 3-methylcholanthrene-treated male Sprague-Dawley rats were found by chiral stationary-phase h.p.l.c. (c.s.p.-h.p.l.c.) analyses to contain (5S,6S)/(5R,6R) enantiomer ratios of 93:7, 88:12 and 97:3 respectively. The absolute stereochemistry of a 12-MBA trans-5,6-dihydrodiol enantiomer was elucidated by the exciton-chirality c.d. method. The 5,6-epoxides formed in the metabolism of 12-MBA by liver microsomal preparations from untreated, phenobarbital-treated and 3-methylcholanthrene-treated male Sprague-Dawley rats in the presence of the epoxide hydrolase inhibitor 3,3,3-trichloropropylene 1,2-oxide were isolated from a mixture of metabolites by normal-phase h.p.l.c., and their (5S,6R)/(5R,6S) enantiomer ratios were found by c.s.p.-h.p.l.c. analyses to be 73:27, 78:22 and 99:1 respectively. The absolute configurations of 12-MBA 5,6-epoxide enantiomers, resolved by c.s.p.-h.p.l.c., were determined via high-resolution (500 MHz) proton-n.m.r. and c.d. spectral analyses of the two isomeric methoxylation products derived from each of the 12-MBA 5,6-epoxide enantiomers. Enantiomeric pairs of the two methoxylation products were resolved by c.s.p.-h.p.l.c. The results indicate that enantiomeric 5S,6R-epoxide and 5S,6S-dihydrodiol were the major enantiomers preferentially formed in the metabolism at the K-region 5,6-double bond of 12-MBA by all three rat liver microsomal preparations. Optically pure 12-MBA 5S,6R-epoxide was hydrated predominantly at the C(6) position (R centre) to form 12-MBA trans-5,6-dihydrodiol with a (5S,6S)/(5R,6R) enantiomer ratio of 97:3. However, optically pure 12-MBA 5R,6S-epoxide was hydrated nearly equally at both C(5) and C(6) positions to form 12-MBA trans-5,6-dihydrodiol with a (5S,6S)/(5R,6R) enantiomer ratio of 57:43.  相似文献

Complete sequences of the rRNA genes of Drosophila melanogaster   总被引:19,自引:0,他引:19  
In this, the first of three papers, we present the sequence of the ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes of Drosophila melanogaster. The gene regions of D. melanogaster rDNA encode four individual rRNAs: 18S (1,995 nt), 5.8S (123 nt), 2S (30 nt), and 28S (3,945 nt). The ribosomal DNA (rDNA) repeat of D. melanogaster is AT rich (65.9% overall), with the spacers being particularly AT rich. Analysis of DNA simplicity reveals that, in contrast to the intergenic spacer (IGS) and the external transcribed spacer (ETS), most of the rRNA gene regions have been refractory to the action of slippage-like events, with the exception of the 28S rRNA gene expansion segments. It would seem that the 28S rRNA can accommodate the products of slippage-like events without loss of activity. In the following two papers we analyze the effects of sequence divergence on the evolution of (1) the 28S gene "expansion segments" and (2) the 28S and 18S rRNA secondary structures among eukaryotic species, respectively. Our detailed analyses reveal, in addition to unequal crossing-over, (1) the involvement of slippage and biased mutation in the evolution of the rDNA multigene family and (2) the molecular coevolution of both expansion segments and the nucleotides involved with compensatory changes required to maintain secondary structures of RNA.   相似文献

Percutaneous coronary intervention can be associated with distal embolization of thrombotic material causing myocardial necrosis and infarction. We discuss the role of intravascular imaging to guide the use of a distal protection device by describing the outcome of a young woman presenting with non-ST elevation myocardial infarction. Coronary angiography demonstrated an isolated minor stenosis in the proximal left anterior descending coronary artery with slight haziness beyond the lesion. Intravascular ultrasound confirmed an extensive thrombus overlying a bulky atherosclerotic plaque. A distal filter wire was therefore successfully used to reduce the risk of distal embolization. The use of intravascular ultrasound in patients presenting with acute coronary syndrome may reveal large thrombi that are difficult to image using conventional angiographic techniques. Intravascular ultrasound can therefore be used as a tool to select lesions requiring distal protection.  相似文献

Fifteen ewes were assigned as they came into estrus to one of three randomized treatment groups: 1. Sham IUD + Vehicle, 2. IUD + Vehicle or 3. IUD + PGE1 in vehicle. An IUD was inserted adjacent to the luteal-bearing ovary on day 3 postestrus. Prostaglandin E1 (500 micrograms) in vehicle (Na2CO3) or vehicle was given intrauterine through an indwelling uterine cannula every four hours from day 3 postestrus until ewes returned to estrus. Precocious estrus was induced in both the sham IUD and IUD groups receiving vehicle. Prostaglandin E1 prevented an IUD-induced premature luteolysis based on daily concentrations of progesterone in peripheral blood and the interestrous interval. It is concluded that an IUD-induced premature luteolysis is not necessarily via physical distention by the IUD. It is also concluded that chronic intrauterine infusions of PGE1 can prevent an IUD-induced premature luteolysis.  相似文献

Coprolites (fossilized feces) can preserve a wide range of biogenic components. A mold of a hatchling turtle partial shell (carapace) referable to Taphrosphys sulcatus is here identified within a coprolite from Clapp Creek in Kingstree, Williamsburg County, South Carolina, USA. The specimen is the first-known coprolite to preserve a vertebrate body impression. The small size of the turtle shell coupled with the fact that it shows signs of breakage indicates that the turtle was ingested and that the impression was made while the feces were still within the body of the predator. The detailed impression could only have survived the act of defecation if the section of bony carapace was voided concurrently and remained bonded with the feces until the latter lithified. Exceptionally, the surface texture of the scutes is preserved, including its finely pitted embryonic texture and a narrow perimeter of hatchling scute texture. The very small size of the shell represented by the impression makes it a suitable size for swallowing by any one of several large predators known from this locality. The coprolite was collected from a lag deposit containing a temporally mixed vertebrate assemblage (Cretaceous, Paleocene and Plio-Pleistocene). The genus Taphrosphys is known from both sides of the Cretaceous–Paleogene (K–Pg) boundary so, based on the size of the coprolite and the locally-known predators, the juvenile turtle could have been ingested by a mosasaur, a crocodylian, or a theropod dinosaur. Unlike mosasaurs and theropod dinosaurs, crocodylian stomachs have extremely high acid content that almost always dissolves bone. Therefore, the likely predator of this turtle was a mosasaur or a (non-avian or avian) theropod dinosaur.  相似文献
